That was really good. Love the idea of taking your idiosyncrasies out into the wider world when the inner sanctum of a relationship is over - kind of like in (500) Days of Summer when Tom says he hates all Summer’s quirks which he earlier said he loved. Also love the keys in the bowl even out in the wild, and the idea that there’s be no dialogue to be said in this film, because these two have NOTHING left to say to each other. Reminded me of something European, but can’t quite think what… maybe even a bit of Scenes From A Marriage in there? My only note is whether or not camera moves within a shot should be considered as their own shots (😉), but overall I was intrigued from the moment I saw your post on Instagram up until the moment the credits rolled. Great concept, great stuff!
It means the world to us that you took the time to write this Rhys! In terms of your thematic analysis you are bang on! We were determined to portray physical action over vocal communication to drive home the final moments of a failed relationship. The two going in opposite directions with nothing left to say being the very core of it, which brings me joy that they had the intended effect. It is fantastic that the film connected with you and you saw these elements! The camera point is valid and noted! And again, thank you for taking the time to write this! We are excited to share more work with you!! 🍻
