It’s fun watching the changes you’re making on your farm. My husband & I bought a house 3 years ago and have been busy making it over to our taste. Working in our yard is almost addicting lol….I love to hit our local garden centers too hoping to find another addition for our yard and garden. I love the cottage garden look you’re going for, looking forward to watching your transformation 😍
My husband built small a fence with a wire on top that we planted honeysuckle on to give us more privacy, I can’t wait to see how you plant your honeysuckle. We also planted a couple of Star Jasmine vines on a trellis by our back fence for privacy, they are growing fast and look good year round.

Just an idea. You guys could maybe change where the cottage garden is since there is so much grass growing in that area. You could maybe make that area a grass area? It could maybe be a good area for your rabits? Jasmin yes. Or trumpet vine. Thanks for sharing. Have a great weekend.

Happy to see you turning this space into "Whispering Willow Farm". Would totally agree on the roses-they are lovely, but have spaces that work so much better than over a walkway where you need to duck to avoid the daggers. Lovely that you are rehoming them-will be looking forward to seeing what you choose to replace them!

Trumpet vine, sometimes called trumpet creeper would work well there. It keeps lots of woody vine that is really structural through the winter and that full sun location would produce lots of flowers. It can be a little invasive but can also handle a good cut back to control it.

The cottage garden is going to be beautiful. Can't wait to see it. A Sweet Autumn Clematis would be a good one to replace the rose. It grows like crazy. I leave mine all winter for the birds to hide in. In the spring I don't cut it back but just pull off the dried dead leaves and branches. It blooms like crazy also with little white flowers later into the summer and the bees love them.

I also agree with several other viewers that you and Nathan are doing a wonderful job making Whispering Willow Farm yours. My suggestion for a vine plant would be the Jasmine as well. It stays green all year and has a welcome scent for any garden.. At the 5:48 mark in this video I see the initials of the last owners of your new farm painted or carved, can't really tell on the inside of your green house walking in (R&R J&J)??? I know most types of ninebark are not available for my south Arkansas zone 8 and I believe a 7 is the top zone for them. I buy a lot of things I can’t find online. I grow anything I can from seed. I love to grow salvias, agastache and coreopsis for perennial and drought tolerant plants. I grow hollyhock, rose of Sharon, English daisy and lots of other daisies. You can buy roses that are thornless. I love to grow gaura from seed. It adds the same great movement as grasses and pollinators love them. I grow all the cutting garden flowers too. Can’t wait to see what you plant in your cottage garden.

Just for fun, why not grow a succession of vines on your archway, starting with sweet peas. They smell heavenly. Perhaps you could try out several annual vines just for one season. I’m experimenting with purple bell vines and cup and saucer vines this year. They won’t overwinter, but it will give you time to decide what perennial vine you want as your final choice.

I love honeysuckle too! With enough time it will likely take over your fence and make a nice hedge…..if you can, maybe try planting it on the outside of the fence and not inside to slow it down from encroaching where you don’t want it rooting. I’m not sure if all varieties are the same but my honeysuckle puts off a limb, as it get heavy the limb leans to the ground it roots where it touches the ground and starts growing a new upright plant from that root system so it can tend to take over all though it’s definitely manageable compared yo other things
