    My dad was a writer, poet, MLA. This was the only book my recommended me before his death. Im reading it(finished chapter 7). My dad left me 5 months ago. Before his death he was gazing at Paramhansa Yogananda's portrait he had in his room (it's still there). I will always love you Dad you gave me a best life one could give. 💔 i will meet you one day. I miss you.

      If there's any book which is the epitome of superstition it's "the autobiography of a yogi" spirituality has nothing to do with miracles. But we are so gross minded that we try to justify our pre existing superstitious beliefs through these books. If spirituality is going down the drain then all the credit goes to books like these. You all won't prefer reading Bhagwad geeta, kabeer vani, ribhu geeta, vedanta philosophy, ashtavakra geeta, upanishadas, Patanjali sutras, these are the real authentic spiritual books.

    Well.... Whatever is written in the book is absolutely true, my grandfather and few of his time was very much able to detect negative energy and cure diseases caused by those -ve energy, I'm sure we all hv had grandparents with some spiritual powers, it's just that we of current generation hv been busy studying irrelevant books forced on us to chase the Jobs, money and in this process we have forgot to maintain relationship with ourselves. How can we understand and believe such spiritual powers while we ourselves can't understand our own true identity, we are simply taking birth, giving birth, struggling or somehow surviving this life and dying without even knowing oneself. Such pathetic human being we have become, otherwise I don't doubt even a single word written in the book becoz that's how our ancestors were, they were Powerful human and we are just existing, surviving, struggling.

    I liked the way you justified your statement of "unscripted and honest" review. After reading about 6 chapters, I tried looking for "reviews" just to make sure that is it only me who's finding this book kinda "illogical". I had also fallen for this book after seeing reviews of Steve Jobs, Kohli and BeerBiceps. Maybe, this is one of the drawback of being from so called "science" background that you start searching for "logic" in nearly everything you see. Trust me, I am not atheist. Even I keep telling the 'scientific reasonings' behind the long followed rituals of our religions. But somehow I am not feeling that attracted towards further reading this book bcz I unable to cope up with the "magics" and "miracles" that are consistently discussed throughout. I know it keeps giving scientific causes, facts and figures as references here and there but still mostly its magic only!
    I agree when you say that we should keep mystery alive in us but for how long? I am a diehard fan of thriller movies but I after an extent the suspense does open up. Even in Ekta Kapoor serials things do reveal in the next episode irrespective of how nonsense it is but it does demystifies. Here, I cant see that hope! Therefore I am kinda reluctant in completing which I dont wanna regret later.(Yeah, it might be FOMO). I am maybe looking for some solid "logical" reason to further read this book! Do let me know if you got some comments on that! :)

    • @DakshJindal
      @DakshJindal  2 года назад

      It's not an easy answer. What I feel is the things described in the book can be explored by reading other books backed by Science about the mind and how living beings interact with each other.
      By keeping mystery alive doesn't mean thinking about the mystery all the time but not letting that curiosity die and exploring that curiosity in future whenever you get a chance.
      For example I never let me curiosity of spiritual or religion die despite all the gurus getting arrested misusing religion and god. Because of keeping this curiosity alive I am still reading literature around this topic and learning new things about ourselves.
      But again this doesn't mean thinking about spirituality all the time I feel there are more problems on this planet that need our attention. So these curiosities are good for exploring in our spare time.

    dude the muslim fakir story is my favourite fun story in the book , dont try to bring philioshopy into, the story is fun just enjoy it, the main important part ( as per me ) is to foucs on is the fact that such a fakir even existed! A fakir who used his magical powers to bring bad in the world and escaped from police etc , this guy has to be legit else he can't even dream of doing these sort of stunts, in the current world we have these gurus with powers who only DO good , coz they are not really powerful! this fakir is real powerful! I am yearning to meet a selfish fakir who can genuinely bring miracles ! i am bored of the do-gooders !

      I don’t think language matters with this book. Try what you are most comfortable in. It’s your interpretation that will matter.
