*I thought it was going live today, according to Polyend, but it's still in the "pre-order, first come first serve" stage. Here's the official word from Polyend:
"The preorders have started on the 18th of March. We've started shipping the firstly preordered units to private customers/stores/distributors with the last days of May. This is a constant process. I think we'll be sending them for a long time before the Tracker will be available "in stock". Anyone can order at their retailers or directly at polyend.com but we'll be shipping the preorders on a "first come first serve basis" until September 2020 I think."

mine is ordered through retailer, can't wait ! Supposed to arrive in August...
I cant find your track on the tracker sadly. Any idea where I could find it? Was hoping to dissect how you managed to make it. Cheers!
Thanks for the shout out
early 2000’s UK liquid DnB? yes please !!!
i love it so much
when i was kid i listen it by radio before going to sleep, and now i can google it, finally!! thanks man ;)
@@chiboreache also 'atmospheric dnb' // some classic comps you can find on yt like the one mixed by Aphrodite

Late '90 i would say 😛 ohh what a vibe man! Nuff respect!
Fuckkkkk yesssss
Thumbs up if you also thought that vocal sample said "cuppa tea"
Wait! What does it say then?

bought one today and I love it already. I've been using Renoise for 10 years and Buzz before that. Of course, you can't expect it to have as much modulation options as in Renoise but still, just the performance FX section is awesome. Instead of using song mode, I switch the patterns in realtime in Performance.. I layered a 7/8 arpeggio on top of a 4/4 and it worked. And what's also cool is that when you select and deselect a track in performance, it retriggers the pattern from the top! It's a bit like ''phrases'' in Renoise!!
This gives me flashbacks to when I'd spend hours and hours laying out a drum track in Impulse Tracker or the like. The tracker workflow was always fun to work in but I kind of don't miss it, all the same.
You and loopop ! What more do we need to choose new gear. Superb video about how to build a track on the Polyend
What I learned from this is just how many patterns/variations it takes to make full songs
Yup!
This bangs. About to pick one up this week. It's the piece of hardware I've always wanted
Could have been called "Polyend Jungalist", that's the first thing anyone wanna try with it haha. Great device to chop beats !
I think it's because that was the popular stuff when trackers was out n about 😁
I don’t know what I’m looking at but I know I want one
exactly..learn as i go..
I've return to this video 3 times, just to listen to the track at the beginning.
Best vid of the Polyend Tracker on Internet.
Nothing to say.
It's just... Perfect
Bravo ! 👋👋👋
In the trackers I used to use "Cut" would stop the note completely while "Off" would keep playing and move the envelope in to the release stage. Not sure if it is the same in the Polyend - mine won't be here for another few days!
Ah makes sense!
Pre-ordered and excited. Can't wait to sample some of my guitar playing with it. Also, love your content - I am new to digital music making, but your stuff is accessible and very enjoyable.
You made a great choice by entering the world of tracking! It's a great community and I can't wait for it's format to be accepted on mod file sites.
I noticed that you haven't posted about the tracker since around the time this video was released. Did you stop using it and move on? I just started getting interested in trackers and crunchy old chip tune stuff (hobby not pro). Your video was very helpful with many excellent tips and tricks for a beginner. Do you have a favorite tracker program? Is there a program that best-matches the relative simplicity of the Polyend tracker? I have been playing with SunVox which is much more complex in terms of its modular instruments (amazing that it is free). Renoise also has much more complexity.
It's the sixth time I watch this video since it was published, that DnB and the whole review is so amazing it cheers me up everytime I see this, saving all the money I can to buy one * 0*
Can’t believe this was made on that little machine
that demo track is ruthless, too excited about mine coming on tuesday
Makes me wish Renoise made a hardware tracker. Their FX are actually pretty good for stock.
With futur updates i'm sure this will turn into a portable Renoise. Plenty of room for improvement !
Love the Good Looking Records vibes at the beginning. So good! 🙌
What i thought exactly, big up chameleon
Someone knows his genre here :) I got weak in the knees when I heard the bass and carrying pads comin' in 1:10 in Jeremy's DnB track - just a "logical progression" I guess, getting weak in the knees, I mean, hihi - it reminded me of my "best" years - I turned 50 last week, hihi! Perfect "demo" track!
Gear Acquisition Syndrome triggered heavily. The only way I’ve ever been able to create “music” for more than a few seconds was with a tracker, aeons ago. I just can’t get over the font difference between the GUI and the buttons... will have to live with it probably :-(
This tracker is very tempting. But I love to see your walkthrough and how you built your song *takes notes for that remix contest*.
I would love to see Polyend create a way to route a track’s effects lanes to another track so you could use more effects on one track.
Funnily enough, I've just been fiddling around in Renoise - excavating a track I made ages ago in Octamed on the amiga which I managed to convert to .xm, and handily the Akai programs/multis that it was originally triggering are able to be converted easily enough in Kontakt. But it seems so alien now, having to kind of hold the song structure in your mind rather than seeing everything linearly on screen...
the main thing that i learned from this, is that you should make more wild d&b.
preordered mine thru a retailer on march 23rd, uncertainty of when it's gonna get here has me like AAAA
Ordered mine from the Polyend website on March 29th, no news yet......
Incredible sound...
As soon as i get mine im going straight to your project, learning it, remixing it and sending you what I come up with ❤
Siiiiiiiiccccckkkk track, loved those turnarounds
Thank you for that demo!
As much as I like glitch and other stuff, most other videos about the tracker were just too experimental, too special and too much for most beginners. A Basic drum and bass / jungle style demo is way better for grasping the basics of a tracker :)
Excellent overview. I'm super keen to see how well this pairs up with some Volcas!
Great demo - and the device looks cool - I’m thinking though with all those prepared wav files would it not be a lot easier building the track in a daw
Good god - I'd buy the tracker on the strength of those wavetable sounds alone! .. That track moves!
"ethereal drum-n-bass demo track" is my new favorite genre
*SCREAMS OF EXCITEMENT*
ove the arrangement, loved the walkthrough! Thank you!
sounds good. would go well with the street fighter 3rd strike soundtrack
The wavetable mode looks fun and sounds fun
I used to love messing around with the wavetable synth in octamed
Thanks
I have no idea on how to use such a cool device but I so urgently want one. My inner kid who used to spend hours playing Music2000 on my PSX is excited.
Will this be the machine that brings dnb back? Your demo is amazing, best one I've heard yet.
time to make the next shot down on safari
I hope they add DAW/Hardware controller mode in future firmware, with track levels/parameters feedback on its own screen.
Would definitely multiply its footprint justification on my desktop, somewhere near the mouse :)
Was waiting for Conrad to put a few words in at about 3 minutes! Nice oldschool feel.
I am a little worried about the 16bit 44k sampling on this thing. How have people found sampling direct into it? Headroom etc is hard to judge on youtube
OMG! very well produced track on this tracker!
Hey @Red.. I know this video is pretty old but by any chance do you plan to make a Polyend Tracker Mini video (of course if you got it)? Thanks for the amazing content!
I'm not going to do a video on it, as it's really not much different than the original and I am very happy with my m8.
imagine that form factor with Ableton live, making it portable daw. One can dream lol
Jeremy! Are you planning on creating any more music on the tracker?
Great video. I really liked your tune as well. Full release was not delayed over here. HNNNGHH
The demo track kinda sounds like Mario kart wii rainbow road soundtrack! I love it
Taking the reverb out entirely feels like a serious omission?
Music they play at party in the matrix and the whole thing looks the part hahaha
I want one, but I don't need it. Very fun product. Hope I can test it at some store
really makes you Think...
Ahhh finally some bits of jungle on the Tracker :)
21:09 Squarepusher has entered the building.
17:11 The P in the spittle :D
Cannot wait to get stuck into this! Cheers Red :)
Did you ever get to do a video where you built a song from scratch?
Def want to see a track made from scratch
Hi Jeremy, I like your Polyend Tracker walkthrough. Not got my hands on one of these yet... But I did get the OP-1. You've inspired me to create my own OP-1 Song. Let me know what you think
Although im not Jeremy but still awesome job on the song
The keys look so much better in real life.
That track is DOPE!
looks cool but the 'hardware tracker' thing makes me giggle - it's hard to not think about renoise on a laptop
I hate laptop keyboards. This seems way more ergonomic to me, and i understand the renoise thing but at the same time i don't, if i was going to use renoise then I'd just use bitwig, which i do.. for tracking i like it a bit more limited. I like 8bitbubsy's ft2 clone. If only protrekkr was stable and couldsample. Bam! This is closer to what i just wished for than anything else!
Yep, I thought about getting it but it's essentially a substantially weaker system with severe limitations and the control scheme looks obtuse as hell.
I made a mistake of buying Digitakt after watching your videos... Now I know I just don’t have the talent or patience, so I should not really be buying this one as well :)))
"smack my b*tch up" vibes 🙏😂
For the Polyend information being displayed in the video, did you just zoom in on the screen or is there a way to display the info via some sort of VST
Zoomed
Love it! I want one now
It's a really nice piece of electronic, but the fact that the buttons don't stay straight makes me very uncomfortable :/
Maybe that's just on the early models, I've been paranoid over this myself.
"Cup of tea" or "proper tings" ?
The latter :)
As a kick I too see my self being turned off by choking
Check out the Pete Cannon edition.
Very nice looking
What a wonderful review! Thanks a lot! I just have one question: what about SQ? is it any good? is it old-fashioned (like the Octatrack)? does it lack of good compression?
SQ?
@@RedMeansRecording Sound Quality (sorry for that, I assumed you had to know 😅, my mistake)
Nice video and great track, I'll be running my breakbeats a bit slower most of the time but I imagine I'll speed up to jungle tempos too! I have a question for you that I've been dying to know if you have the answer, can i record a sample while either running the pattern to sequence external gear, or maybe send midi out to gear with the pads while recording? I am really really hoping to sit this next to my desktop blofeld and use just those two.
BTW it's nice to see a video on this from someone who clearly has a lot of tracking experience, I can't say for certain but i don't think I've seen people make much use of the sample start position effect which is one of the best parts of tracking in my opinion.
Sound really good
Looks like Amiga's Protracker.
You could do a series like with the elektron just tracker version
Hey Jeremy ! Great demo and track ! I really like its workflow (I'm used to trackers thanks to Nerdseq), how it is organized and performance capabilities.
What do you think about using it in a live performance situation ? Would it be useful to make pre-prepared remixes of tracks for live performance ?
Cheers !
I think the performance mode lends itself to live performances yeah
Love it, don't ship till August though :(
nice jungle track man wasnt expecting that
i need 2
DUDE. I feel like you made that demo track just for me (not literally). Also I wonder if calling the LFO 'RevSaw' instead of 'Ramp' was a brainfart.
🤯😲😎 daaaamn!
Like your jungle track 😎
Thank you for this, a lot of reviewers I've watched show just 8-bit video game style music, I get it that's the crowd they're catering towards and originally that was the main use for these back in the 80's-90's. But it's nice to see it used for a modern take on electronic music
My tracker didn't have this track or any of your samples, Jeremy :(
Oh snap :(
I'm properly gutted that they removed the reverb, even if it wasn't a very good one - having one as a placeholder during production is useful. I probably wouldn't have pre-ordered the Tracker knowing this and waited to see whether they implemented a reverb later on. Meh!
Reverb is going to be on the new firmware
Is that a Buddha machine? Still annoyed at myself for not getting the initial release back whenever that was!
It is!
Great vid!!!!
WHEN ARE THEY ACTUALLY GOING TO RELEASE THIS DAM THING !? all websites that sell it including polyend all just say “preorder” and we’re nearing Sept . now ! sick of waiting guess ill just get something else at this point.
Can that delay get really small? And can you automate the speed for like weird karplus/autechre stuff?
The first track sound like wii Mario kart yeah!!!
I want this thing so bad. Does glide create a sort of portamento effect? That would be amazing...
🔥
love the track(s)
Okay, I absolutely don't need this thing in my life. Where do I pre-order?
Its weird how the keypads are so misaligned, is that a production unit?
How are you getting around the removal of the reverb send? Are you just using delay or is there reverb available when processing samples on project import?
Great track! I just received my Tracker! What is the name of the demo song? I can't seem to find it.
He made it himself. It doesn't come pre loaded
wanted to ask... if you put noteoff event on track, but instrument has long "release" of AMP envelope, and next note on that track comes - does it cut unfinished release of previous note, or release ends correctly even through nee nite is already playing ?
Dope.
how long you took to make the track?
