PA's are not production assistants or personal assistants
They can diagnose and treat patients, prescribe medications, perform procedures, assist in surgery, round on patients in the hospital

This is a great informative video on the profession. Working in urgent care in NYC a lot of patients are confused on what a PA role actually consists of. This is a great start on educating the community with we had more material like this.

Jamar Chambers would you be open to letting a future PA student shadow you? I live in NYC and I’m interested in the urgent care/ emergency medicine specialty.

Love this. I’m a 3rd semester PA student and I just love that more people will know what PAs do because of videos like this. Thank you!

Of course not to malign anyone from your team but I saw an ENT yesterday in my area and saw the PA. She did her check but when I asked about the different treatments of a patulous Eustachian tube vs a closed tube. She had no clue what a patulous tube was. I respectfully asked to see the doctor and he came in and had to explain to her what the differences were. Thankfully he was very knowledgeable and answered all my questions but she really didn’t know much.

PA goes through 2- 3 years of education, and her job to handle minor cases. Doctor goes through 5- 9 years of education. It is just like asking housekeeper to write IT code just because she is cleaning IT company.

I had surgery on my esophagus due to a swallowing disorder known as Achalasia, would a P.A-C assist in those kinds of invasive surgeries? I am currently on the pre-pa track.
