HI! Is any of you thought that one day you will be listening to a song in Mandarin, not just enjoy it, but mesmerized, hypnotized and cry, wanted to listen to it again and again. That's happened to me and it is so amazing. Girls! Thank you for reaction!
Linda reacción chicas, yo me quedé tan impresionado como ustedes al escuchar la canción y la escuché muchas veces, Dimash transmite una energía angelical.
Music is the divine way to tell beautiful, poetic things to the heart, you may or may not understand the words but he evokes so much emotion and provides understanding and comfort, excitement and joy and is anything from calming to exiting. He has that mystical resonance, sound, and vibration...which makes people cry and feel their hair stand up. Thanks for your wonderful reactions. HAVE A LOVELY DAY.
Refreshing and relaxing. That's how music should be, something that evokes passion. For more goosebumps from Dimash, kindly react to his songs: in Ukrainian: I Only Love You or Qazaq: Give Me Love. You are listening to one of the great artists in the world. The world are full of singers but very few who are artists. Dimash's voice is Art in itself. Bravissimo!
Thank you for a great reaction. I think this is my favorite performance from Singer for Dimash - so sweet, sincere and wonderful. Looking forward to more Dimash reactions.
Good evening girls gorgeous reaction and so I feel like I near the fantastic beautiful DIMASH has a voice that in magical!!!!!! I love him very Mach❤️Lots of kisses from Greece
I was sitting in a puddle of tears after the first time I watched this. I listen to this song every night before going to bed. It is simply the most beautiful song I have ever heard. Dimash learned this song in one week...he did not speak Mandarin before this competition...to show his appreciation for all the support the people of China gave him. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Dimash didn't speak or understand Chinese/Manadrin, and was still able to learn the song phonetically in only one week at the time of that performance.
In interview he said, that it was too hard too him. 5-6 days he didn't nothing than repeating the lyrics, also he paid a lot of attention to pronounciation
This was Dimash's first time to ever sing in Chinese and had less than a week to learn it. He was so afraid the audience would not be able to understand his pronunciation, but you could see, by the audiences he did great. A very sad song based on true events. Great reaction ladies...Episode 5 is really different but he has such a good time singing Uptown Funk by Bruno Mars!!
Great reactions girls !! Looking forward to more Dimash reactions from you. Just when you think Dimash can't surprise you any more - he does !!! from Auckland; New Zealand.
Hi, girls. Thank you for the excellent responce. You both promised and took into account my constructive opinion. Thank you for that. And this song refers to the Japanese actress Yoshiko Yamagushi who hid her Japanese heritage under the name of Li Xiang Lan and lived in China during the Second World War. The public adored her, but soon she was exposed, she was hated and deported to Japan. She never visited China again. I am sure that our Dimash Kudaibergen has an fully revealed himself as an the pain and sadness of the meaning of this song. Bravo, Dimash! I wish you good luck! Thank you.
Of course we took it into consideration! it was not an hateful comment but a constructive one! We are still learning how to make videos. Thank you so much for the explanation about this song! Dimash was really good at expressing the emotion of the song! thank you again for your comment :)
To understand this song better, pls visit Gloria Wu's channel on this song's background. All translated to English. Another magnificent, sterling and flawless performance from Dimash.
How are you? Why do not we recognize the fact that Dimash is the best at all now because he is skilled at playing things that we were so tired of and we never had before?
I love this song too!! Angelic calm composed beautiful... so stunning!! And so emotional! Im gonna throw all the good words 😂😂 Thank you so much btw! Ep 5 is a lil bit different... Dimash is going to have some fun!! 😆😆 please forgive his english pronunciation and accent though... just enjoy the performance 😉
You REALLY should watch the version of this with English subtitles...The lyrics are as impressive as the vocals! Seriously! Also, PLEASE do a reaction to Adam Lambert, his live versions of "Feeling Good", "Born To Be Wild" and "Believe" for Cher at the Kennedy Center Honors. Thank you! :)
When Koji Tamaki sang the ‘Ikanaide’ meaning “Don’t leave”. He wrote it as a couple with a dying wife without identifying anyone. Li Xiang Lan promoted the song as her own story of loneliness. The Chinese singer and lyricist picked it up and rewrote the song. The Cantonese version depicts the male as using wine to dull the loss. Staring at a faded photo of you but time seems impenetrable and everything seems a dream. But the memory is firmly implanted in the mind. The Mandarin version has the male not outwardly saying we love you but showing our feelings of love by holding your hand to our heart and of loss in autumn (the season of falling or separation of leaves and strong feelings), worrying about your loneliness and always remembering you.
This story goes back nearly 100 years ago. Li Xiang Lan was born in 1920 in Manchuria, China. Her parents were immigrants to China. One pair of her Chinese godparents named her Li Xiang Lan. She was an up and coming singer with a beautiful soprano voice and very attractive… This is really a love song for a daughter-lover Li Xiang Lan. The Chinese love her. She is Chinese but of Japanese heritage. It is an after song like a daughter who trashes her parents’ home to hold a party for her friends. She is banished from home. But we still love her. Because of the Japanese adoption of western Imperialism and with their savage culture of the samurais they committed war crimes in China. They adopted Hitler’s Lebensraum i.e. take land for their own people by wiping out the Slavs. In order to do that the Japanese military commanders treated their foot soldiers with brutality so just as the soldiers were brutalized by their superiors they in turn would be brutal in wiping out the Chinese they displaced. Japan was a founding member of the League of Nations after Germany was expelled for its role in WWI and the other League Nations Britain, France and the US also had possessions of Chinese lands through the Concessions from the Manchus. They did nothing as Japan invaded Manchuria in 1931 well before WWII started, using agent provocateurs posing as Chinese soldiers. In 1937 they in turn invaded China proper after the downfall of the Manchus. They were afraid the new Chinese government would be become more powerful then all their Imperial designs would be in peril. Just as they did with Tokyo Rose, a Japanese woman born and raised in the US, they used Li Xiang Lan for propaganda. Whereas Tokyo Rose broadcast conflicting news of US military activities, Tokyo ‘Li Xiang Lan’ was appearing in movies about Manchukuo (Japanese controlled Manchuria) showing how well Japanese were treating the Chinese. It was written that Yokoshiko Yamaguchi (Li Xiang Lan) was concerned about playing those roles but kept quiet. Li Xiang Lan is like these females that their nations have great emotional attachment to: Joan of Arc in France Anarkali in India Boudica In the U.K. Romeo and Juliet in Italy. Japan was a nation of fishermen and pirates. They often raided Korean and Chinese coasts. The Tang Dynasty captured the pirates and educated them in Chinese culture. The Japanese dresses are Tang Dynasty dresses. (That is why Mulan’s dress resembles modern Japanese Kimono). That is how there is Confucianism, Buddhism and Chinese characters in the Japanese writing. Chinese may have immigrated to Japan as well. China and Korea are linked as the Northern Jurchens, ancestors of the Manchus, ruled China. The Mongols destroyed Jurchen Rule. Korea and China have close links and used Chinese characters till one of their warlords decided to develop their own writing system. They too have links with Japan and many Japanese have Korean ancestors. When Commandore Perry of the US Navy defeated the Japanese and forced them to open their ports to trade the Japanese decided to modernize. China should have modernized too when she was defeated by the British and were forced into Concessions. However, China was hobbled by Manchus who were not Chinese but over time assimilated with the Chinese. The last emperors were Manchus. Chinese emperors had concubines, or royal prostitutes. When the Manchu emperor died his favorite prostitute took over as Dowager Empress. She was cunning and cruel on personal matters and intrigue but ignorant on state affairs. China’s situation deteriorated under her watch. The Japanese saw that Britain was just like them - an island nation with limited resources and land but very successful. They used Britain as a model and adopted British colonial Imperialist ideas to offset what they lacked in their physical assets. They allied themselves with Britain and adopted all their methods. When the Japanese were defeated many Chinese were out for revenge. When they found out Li Xiang Lan was of Japanese heritage they at first wanted to behead her. But the Chinese loved her and instead used that excuse to banish her to Japan. A foreigner posing as a Chinese would be real reason to behead a spy. But Yokoshiko Yamaguchi was assimilated. Her parents were settlers in Manchuria. She assumed a Chinese name of Li Xiang Lan (given to her by her Chinese godparents) and the Japanese began using her for propaganda. The Chinese turned that excuse on its head and instead banished her. Why do you think we even sing this song? Because the Chinese love her. She is Chinese. If Japan had not invaded China, Li Xiang Lan would have married in China and lived the rest of her life in China, would be remembered and loved as a Chinese actress. This song shows the Chinese love her still. Excerpt from Weibo: “The day that Sino-Japanese Relations were restored was the best day of my life” - Li Xianglan She cried when China and Japan restored relations in 1972. Isn’t this telling how much she suffered from being banished from her homeland? She came back to China as a Japan’s Parliamentary Vice Minister of Environment. She died in 2014 at age 94. Late Autumn was sung in Chinese ( Mandarin) which of course Dimash did not speak at all. He had to learn the song in just one week! And his pronunciation is near perfect too! This song was the theme song for a TV drama and movie about the biography of a singer/ actress of the Manchukuo era. Li Xianglan was a Japanese living in China so she was groomed to act in Japanese propaganda movies. After the end of the war, she was condemned to death for treason and so she had to prove she wasn’t Chinese. After returning to Japan she had to start from zero in every way. And yes, I agree that it probably was because he couldn’t show off much of his vocal capabilities here. waiting for more Dimash reactions!
The original ‘Ikanaide’ was by composer/singer Koji Tamaki. It shows the perspecive from Li Xiang Lan point of view after she I\was banished. She feels abandoned, lost and lonely and hungry for human companionship.
The Chinese version is from the perspective of China as the lover or father who suffers as well for her banishment. He is at a loss of having being separated from her. He worries about her loneliness and what the future holds.
Will China forgive her and repatriate her? Will China bring her home? Will China back her ashes and rebury in Chinese soil?
There is another girl going through this same process. She is an American girl. She was 16 and a rising star. In 2016 President-elect Donald Trump invited her to sing in his Inauguration Ceremony. She was delighted and accepted. It was Jackie Evancho - the darling of Americans. Because Donald Trump was so controversial Jackie Evancho seem to be been ostracized.
