in terms of Argentina, to make your argument legitimate, you would need to go about 12 generations.

As an Argentine, I want to apologize. We don’t really hate black people at all. But it is a fact that we do not understand the weight that many of our words have, and we end up being racist out of ignorance. Football songs are made to offend the opponent, and in this case that song was created in the world finals, and to offend France those words were used. I don’t justify the song, it’s really wrong. But they don’t sing it because they’re racist and they really hate black people, but because they don’t put much weight on their words, and they end up being racist out of ignorance. It is difficult to explain it, but culturally "racism" is not an issue that this adressed properly in Argentina, so we need to grow and learn a lot from that. I assure you, we do not hate black people. Moreover, if they come to visit our country, I know they are going to be treated really well. We are simply ignorant about these issues, which ends up sometimes leading us to racist behaviors, not born of hatred, but by not understanding the weight of the words we say. For example in Argentina many people use the N Word, without being black. In any other country, a white person using the N Word is directly offensive and racist. In Argentina as they do not understand the knowledge of the word, and the history behind it, it is simply another word. I do not justify its use, what I say is, we are ignorant, and we do not understand that it is wrong. But we do not do it out of hatred, we do it out of stupidity. I learned all this when I traveled outside, and I really understood all that these words carry. It’s hard to grow and be raised in one way, and to understand that way is wrong on your own, it takes time. Im honestly sorry if you was ofended by those words, and I hope you can forgive us. We are actually a really Good country, but really stupid in these matters.
Thank you for your explanation and sympathy. The thing is, almost ALL racism is based entirely on ignorance. That fact doesn't really provide any consolation to those who bear the burden of having their lives made more difficult because of the ignorance/racism of certain people.
The problem of racism has definitely been improved upon over time. And the reason for that exactly what you've said: people are becoming less ignorant over time. However, there is no excuse for the level of ignorance displayed on that bus, by people who are adult footballers, who have traveled the world and played with and against other black players who are also from all over the world. It'd be one thing if they were a bus full of Argentinians who have never left their little neighborhood outside of Buenos Aires for their entire lives. These are people who have been around the world, yet still chose to live stream such a high level of ignorance. They enjoy the privilege of being paid massive amounts of money for kicking a ball around. Any penalty they pay for this behavior will be well deserved and probably won't be high enough.
Now, I would add that actually, there really isn't anything for a French footballer to be ashamed of just because their parents are from Angola, Nigeria, Cameroon, or anywhere else; anymore than any Argentine footballer should be ashamed of their parents being from Italy, Spain, or wherever. It's just that it's clear that the way it was meant on that bus is that there should be some level of shame in being black, which again, is a level of ignorance that is unacceptable for an international footballer making as much money as these guys do.
If only more people in Argentina were like you. I lived there and know the country, its culture, very well. Yes, there're very nice people in Argentina ---and elsewhere in the world. Hopefully something positive will come out of this horrible mess. RACISM should have NO PLACE in the world.
