this always happens when “non-civilized” people conquer bureaucratic societies, they’re not used to administering civil institutions and get more lazy/corrupt than the previous ruling class, just look at how badly the mongol successor states administered the areas that their ancestors conquered, eastern europe and central asia was heavily depopulated, the middle east permanently lost the technological & intellectual parity it had with the west, & chinese institutions heavily decayed under the yuan dynasty, there’s literally countless examples throughout history but its funny to see in modern times
Agree, although during the Islamic Golden Age the Middle East and much of Africa was ahead of the West, more than just parity. Remember, during the time most of Europe was in the Dark Ages. The technological prosperity of the Greco-Roman times was mostly lost. The Byzantine Empire was the only part of Europe that had parity with the Middle East, the Songhai Empire, Abyssinia, and so on at that time. The Kievan 'Rus was large and had a big military but was technologically behind Byzantium back then. The blossoming of Europe came a little later during the Age of Conquest.
@@A86 during the early golden age they were more advanced than the west but by the 1000s majority of the prominent muslim caliphates fractured/collapsed and were largely replaced by petty sultanates who consistently got conquered by nomadic peoples, by then most of the northern hemisphere was in technological parity for about 2 centuries before the mongols decimated everyone except western europe it’s really underestimated how horrible mongol conquest and rule was, majority of societies they pillaged are all extremely authoritarian today, it’s probably not a direct correlation but its a strikingly coincidental one

By the time you are fifty you have employees doing the heavy manual part of the job and you just do the organizing and supervising stuff. Not as fun and hassle free as simple manual labor but it’s easier on your back and you make more money. And it’s never boring and repetitive as an office job.
@@pansepot1490 So you're saying manual labor is a pyramid scheme lol

Next minute; they start using desk jobs as a form of torture.
Those of us who were forced to participate in work designated virtual “happy hours” already know the torture well.

It's especially hard for far right conservative revolutionaries because they can't handle change in any way. They did one thing, now that's all they're capable of doing for the rest of their lives. It's also hard for left wing liberation revolutionaries due to the whiplash, but not nearly as difficult.
Imagine fighting and shooting RPGs and sniping the opps for decades, screaming you want peace and freedom to only want to go back to the way it was. Wow
Capitalism baybeeeee
I bet these dudes really like shooting guns on the weekend or something, but as a civilian who has to purchase their own ammo, it probably gets super expensive, so they can only afford a few pistol rounds or something at a shooting range and it just doesn't feel the same.

You spend your life fighting and then you wind up in a crazy dystopian nightmare. Poor fellas.

One of you nerds needs to make the office theme song but like taliban version.
I want to see the Taliban Office.
They should have a scene where they stone a woman for asking for a job and work too, played by a clearly male very masculine actor with long hair as women can't work to play that role in their production.

The Catch 22 of "Let the ANF win and work a 9-5, or see the Taliban through to the end and work a 9-5"
Well they could've fought ANF in perpetuity.
They would have a hard time even if they became farmers. Actually especially if they became farmers.

There was huge opium cultivation to get some money.

this always happens when “non-civilized” people conquer bureaucratic societies, they’re not used to administering civil institutions and get more lazy/corrupt than the previous ruling class,
just look at how badly the mongol successor states administered the areas that their ancestors conquered, eastern europe and central asia was heavily depopulated, the middle east permanently lost the technological & intellectual parity it had with the west, & chinese institutions heavily decayed under the yuan dynasty,
there’s literally countless examples throughout history but its funny to see in modern times
