Both guys became their best selves by seeing the good in each other. The younger guy learned humbleness, and since the older guy was so honest, he became humble too, probably resulting in a lifelong friendship! Great upload for teaching such great human character!❤

Top notch film. Thanks for posting it. Im a Navy vet but training is all the same, they try to rattle you. Love the guy getting a gig for spending too much time on shining his shoes. And the fellow who recites the gunnery specs in rhyme. Stuff like that really does happen in boot camp or officer's training, no matter what branch. 🇺🇸

@1:01:37~ When I was drilling in Basic in '72, it wasn't "backward march", it was "to the REAR- march!" Great flick!

Worth the watch even if its a little predictable. The one thing that is strange is while there was a need for the OCS, falsification of documentation, regardless of the motive, is usually a career killer. Not something that you would reward even in a movie.

An excellent movie and whilst there was romance, one comedy scene, and plenty of military attention to detail it all moulded into a team of soldiers, just as it does since soldiers became full time military personnel, and it doesn’t matter what country you live in or what branch of service it always starts the same way, a group of individuals from hugely diverse backgrounds, that get knocked down to be melded together as a cohesive force, just as it did when I joined the British military, of course these guys were actors and supposedly NCO rank already but they portrayed the essence of being in the military very well indeed, not quite up to British military standards (in the film or actuality), despite what the narration said right at the start but it can be forgiven as this was a propaganda film after all. One thing I thought I heard was a reference to the United Nations 🇺🇳 but the United Nations was not formed until after the Second World War had ended, it was the League of Nations prior to WWII but I could have sworn I heard “United Nations”. Whatever the case I thoroughly enjoyed it, thanks for sharing. 😀👍🇬🇧🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿🇺🇸🇺🇦

The allies were sometimes called the United nations during the war, indicating their united status against the axis. I seem to recall them called that in forming the convoy in Action in the North Atlantic.

@@allandavis8201 Wow, where did you learn your humbleness 🫤☹️. The Country that couldn’t save itself, tells the country that helped saved it, your soldiers weren’t as good as ours. Gee, thanks. 👎🏼😲

In a couple of shots e.g. at 35:35, you see black men drilling with the rest of the officer candidates.
Did that actually happen in officer training in WW2? I thought the forces were still entirely segregated at that time.
