I have no idea how your video popped up on my feed but it raised an interesting thought. You seem to be new (or somewhat new) to model railroading. I retired from the Army in 2009 and for my 26 year career I had the hobby pretty much on ice after a couple moves. Moving every couple years does a lot to delicate models so I invested into my other interests that were easier to move or liquidate which was restoring vintage Military Vehicles. So after retiring I looked into how far things had advanced and in 2012 I scored a good haul of locomotives that all had sound cards installed which amazed me. From that point I visited a local independently owned hobby shop and did some trading so I made out big time. I promptly joined a nearby train club here in San Antonio, TX (SAMRA) and life was great. To keep costs down most of my inventory is second hand and only if the price is right. Often Amy train club will get things donated which we sell to raise funds and we often get good quality models but some have severe glue damage. With glue damage, it seems to be rampant when a modeler gets older and loses certain motor skills so it’s understandable. Usually I can repair the damage and blend in the repair with weathering and I’ve gotten proficient with the process so it’s hard to spot my repairs. As a courtesy to older club members I always bring along my box of tools, soldering iron, spare parts and various adhesives so I can help them and prevent the damage which makes them happy. Take your inventory of containers as an example. You’ve patiently nosed around to find the best prices for a quality model which is to a quality standard you prefer. Often we can blend in a mid quality model amongst high quality versions and nobody notices. Trainz.com has been a great “fishing hole” for me over the years as is our local train shows. Often I’ll find second hand models at a price too good to pass up so I’ll buy it then later on trade it with a friend or club member who’s looking for a specific model. Recently, I’ve found amazing deals at the BLI website in their ‘Outlet Store’ page where the prices are usually half price. It’s very hard to find quality HO scale military vehicle models and when you do, the prices are insane. So currently I have 49 locomotives and about 15% of them don’t have sound cards in them. Recently, club members have been using the new Blunami decoders and it’s changed things dramatically because they can adjust CV’s on the fly instead of going to the program track and computer to make changes. It’s great that you’re showing people how your interest in the hobby is progressing which will help newer modelers get into the hobby without making bad choices. Just be cautious with used models that were stored in hot environments like a garage or outdoor shed, the gears become brittle and once you place a heavy load on the locomotive a gear will crack. But then you get to learn how to repair, buy or 3D print a gear to fix it. All in all, it’s about cost, it’s future value and quality. Thanks for your time.
Hi um what is the song called on your unstoppable video when they were shooting the train? I love your animations plz keep being my favorite youtuber no joke
scale train's are top tier always BTW if you comparison both dash-9 roof closely, BNSF one have notch near at cab side window i also didn't now about that one quit long time
Yup, it actually started with BNSF predecessor Santa Fe with their Dash 8-40CWs! It's referred to as the "gullwing cab". Santa Fe had GE design the cab in order to meet clearance restrictions at some of the coal mines the Railroad serviced at the time as the standard GE wide cab made the locomotives to tall to enter the loading area.
Hi crafty fox another fantastic video mate. You must have gotten lucky to get a set of the BNSF patch 5 back packer unit well car's because they have been sold out for months. You Can never have enough containers i have nearly 100 and still haven't got All the containers that I want to collect.
Hello! i was wondering since you mostly do American modelling, but also mostly modern stuff, are you interested in the Re-release of the Rivarossi Big Boy thats coming up? i was wondering since i had no idea if you knew about it, and was hoping at some point you'd bring in some more steam, but i do like your diesel fleet though :3
There's a reason why high cube is low. In the United States, it is illegal for To exceed 13 foot 6 without a special permit. If you are East of the Mississippi River. Which will make the majority of the states where you can't have it. That's why . You'll see the high cube on the west coast
I have tried all the deep well cars and Class One Model Works blows all of these away. 2nd I would say is the Rapido 53’ but only stack one container high all them except Class One are too tippy and as far as I am concerned unacceptable. The Athearn and Atlas weigh 1.2 & 1.8 oz while the Class One and Rapido are 4.4 oz and just a lot better cars.
Can never have enough containers I have nearly 100 and still haven't got All the containers that I want. I have a set of the ttx repatch scale train backpackers 5 car unit.
Dude, you're living the life. Model trains forever.
