God really gave you an amazing talent, you look at wood or whatever and see what it can become. Everything you make is magnificent and breathtakingly stunning.
Amazing work Salem! It was great meeting you at the Longs Park show this past weekend. Thank you again for taking the time to answer my beginner sculpting questions about the die grinder bits and finishing techniques. I always learn so much from your videos, but being able to ask questions in person was the best part of the show that day. Keep up the great work. Jim M
Thanks, and thank you for stopping by. The silver Kutzall burrs are the most useful to start with. Depending on the shapes you're making and the material, you'll be able to go up or down in the grit grade. Also, any electric chainsaw will work for this. The Makita is expensive, so you might prefer a cheap used one until you decide upon the higher investment.
You are truly a freak of nature, and I mean that as the biggest compliment!! I do wood sculptures as well, but nothing compares to this. However I do know what u mean by the spiritual aspect of it. Thank you for sharing your an inspiration
I looked up the word sublime in the dictionary(awe inspiring and of the highest order and so on) and it definitely fits this piece of work. That's some amazing looking wood.
Once in a while in the dense forests of RUclips I come across a true gem like your channel and I feel sad. I am sad that it took me this long to know such a gold mine. Thank you, I will be regular here!
For this particular piece what was the thickness of the single plank of spectraply you started with? And, I assume that it took a single plank for each of the two sides right and left? Thanks in advance. Amazing work.
This was made from a single plank of Dymalux panel. I should have bought spectraply. I think the plank was 42" x 10" x 1.75". I cut it in half and glued it to make it thicker and then cut it diagonally to make two triangles.
Thanks. The exact product is Dymalux Green Mountain Camo from Cwp-usa.com. spectraply is a less dense product, which is what I should have ordered but I didn't understand at the time. Dymalux is VERY hard and heavy. And the dust very toxic.
This is Dymalux Green Mountain Camo from CWP-USA.COM. it's hard like acrylic. I should have bought their Spectraply for this project but I didn't realize what I was ordering. Spectraply is more like fine plywood. Dymalux is vacuum impregnated with a plasticizer and then baked to harden.
The finish on this one is Minwac Wipe-On Poly, but these days I spray Ilva Acrylic Urethane. Here's how: ruclips.net/video/lYA4V5pel-I/видео.htmlsi=PiI6YoOuUAZIxP3w
The thin layers of wood are colored individually prior to being glued together. They're soaked in a water based dye in a vacuum chamber and glued after dyeing. I acquired the equipment to do it myself and then just decided to buy the finished product from cwp-usa.com
I can only think of one word to describe this sculpture - Mesmerizing :)

that plywood just dulls the chainsaw blade instantly huh! I've done a ton of sculptural and furniture work with this material
It sure does. I didn't know I was buying the fenylformaldahide wood when I bought it.
Love your work. I had a pool cue made out of that wood. What is it name?
Thanks. The exact product is Dymalux Green Mountain Camo from Cwp-usa.com. spectraply is a less dense product, which is what I should have ordered but I didn't understand at the time. Dymalux is VERY hard and heavy. And the dust very toxic.
What type of wood is this? Nice piece !

@@SalemBarker Thanks you .I love your work.
Genius!
Thank you Madaline!
What kind of wood do you use sir
This wood species is birch. I purchased it from CWP-USA.COM.
Amazing creation!!! Wow. Where do you get Spectraply in that size?
Cwp-usa.com . It's a 42" long plank, cut in half and glued to double the thickness.
你真棒👍
I do my best.
HOW DID YOU OIL AND FINISH THE WOOD?
The finish on this one is Minwac Wipe-On Poly, but these days I spray Ilva Acrylic Urethane. Here's how: ruclips.net/video/lYA4V5pel-I/видео.htmlsi=PiI6YoOuUAZIxP3w
How not to get spectraply from bleeding its colors?
It never does. Great product.
How do you color the wood first
The thin layers of wood are colored individually prior to being glued together. They're soaked in a water based dye in a vacuum chamber and glued after dyeing. I acquired the equipment to do it myself and then just decided to buy the finished product from cwp-usa.com
