Great reaction. As they toured the world they realised their foreign fans had been learning Japanese to sing along with them. They were very moved and challenged themselves to learn a song completely in English to reciprocate and return the compliment. 'The One' is that song and it is effectively their love letter to the fans (who they also named The One❤). This was a very special version, the Stairway to Living Legend. This was how they announced in October 2021 that they would be going on hiatus for an unspecified time ... quite a lot of fans thought there was even a possibility this would be the end of BABYMETAL and the last we would see of them. By this time there were just the two of them ... but did you notice at the end there were three lights that flew off? They had a hard time in 2018 following the death of Kami Band guitarist Mikio Fujioka (RIP) and with Yuimetal suffering ill health so she could not perform or tour with them. Yui announced in October 2018 that she was still not fully recovered and she had decided she would leave the band. Su and Moa chose to continue as a duo through to their 10th anniversary (that was October 2020) and they played 10 concerts at the Budokan in Tokyo over the first 3 or 4 months of 2021 to celebrate ... but the world was in lockdown, so they had very tight restrictions for those shows to be allowed to even do them. They had been on the road, working virtually non stop for over 10 years. Being unable to tour or play live they took this opportunity to take a hiatus (although that had already been planned even before the world closed down). This video was filmed in the Budokan where they played their 10 anniversary concerts ... but they had it completely to themselves, the place was entirely deserted apart from them. It was another year before they started to tease us with snippets of new songs and to hint they would be coming back and ending the hiatus, but it was nearly 2 years since the last of the 10 Budokan shows before they played live again at the end of January last year.
I'm glad they continued that would have been devastating for them to have stopped. I did notice the third star it made me think of Yuimetal I remember you guys mentioning her leaving at one point. This song really tugged hard at the heart strings
It is said that this song was originally written by BM as a thank you to their fans. And when that version was released, many fans were said to have thought, 'Oh, is this the end of BM?'... I haven't really listened to this original song before, but BM performed it (in English / Japanese version) at the recent 2 days live show, 'Legend MM', on both days. I was there on two days and very impressed as you done here. Thank you from Japan.
Nice reaction, thanks! This version hit hard emotionally when it was released when they went on hiatus in 2021. At that moment, I thought it was over and I would never see them live after the 2020 general cancellation. I was proven wrong (fortunately). And I'm currently in Japan enjoying this amazing country after seeing them here twice last weekend. I'm living a dream! Very proud of being part of The ONE. 🤘🦊
Great reaction! This song is a tribute song to all the fans "The ONE", but the ballad version. Also, at the very end, Su and Moa ascend the stairway to become Eternal Legends, and you see them become shooting stars flying off into space. HOWEVER, there are 3 stars! I believe the 3rd star is a tribute to Yui, who was with Babymetal for 8 years before her official departure in 2018. This specific version was made in 2021, marking the "end" of Babymetal's Metal Resistance lore, 10-year anniversary, and the start of their hiatus (until their return at the end of 2022). There are live versions of this song that transition into the full version as well and is super epic (but a copyright nightmare lol). 🤘🦊
You're not lying. And thank you for the suggestion. We had to dig in deep into the vault to get this one I'm glad I saved it. Please let me know if I missed anything else from you or if you would like to add something else along with it I really appreciate it
This version wrecks me everytime 😭 Great reaction. If you want to see more of this side of Babymetal, take a look at Akatsuki unfinished version at Legend 1997 ❤🦊🤘
It's a tribute to the BM fans, who are known as the One. The song Starlight is a tribute to Mikio, the guitarist who passed, and some say to Yui too, who left due to an illness.
This video caused quite the furore when it released. A lot of fans interpreted it as a farewell and thought that it meant that Babymetal was ending. Kobametal had to post a clarification that Babymetal was just going on hiatus and that they would be back. Luckily they did return, and some of us were lucky enough to see them perform this song at Legend MM this past weekend in Yokohama.
The song is a thank you to their fans . My thoughts on this version is them saying they will never forget the old BabyMetal, the original 3, and they are legendary, but they are moving on . They had not performed this for a while until the recent Legend M M shows . This is maybe a statement this new performance of the One with Mo Mo, now official member. if you take this with the song Believing, which is maybe saying we are changing, but we are not forgetting.we are moving on and to keep on following our journey 😀
I shedded some tears myself It made me think of her and the people they've lost along the way and when you realize they're gone but not forgotten until we all reunite.
@@k0lometal I know that but it's quite possible they already knew they were going to choose a third member by then. That being said, it may not be Momoko but it is definitely not Yui. When they climb the stairs and fly off s the orbs of light, they are not going into the past. They are moving to the future. The third light comes from somewhere else and joins Su and Moa's orb in that future. If you also consider that Babymetal has long moved on from the Yui era, there is zero reason to believe it represents Yui. It's just people clinging desperately to her memory.
@@jeffschreifels8651Man, just play first 5 seconds of that video and you will see that they write it clearly : "The 3 metal spirits that have been shining since 2010". Who this 3 metal spirits that have been shining since 2010? Yep, thats Su,Moa and Yui. Not Momo.
Great job👊🏽⚡️The One according to Babymetal has 2 groups of peoples. The big meaning is Babymetal and their fans. All are invited but sadly some opt out. The smaller meaning is an actual merch store.

I cried like a little baby when they released this because of the third star representing Yui.
I shedded some tears myself It made me think of her and the people they've lost along the way and when you realize they're gone but not forgotten until we all reunite.
But the third star doesn't represent Yui. There is a better chance it was Momoko than Yui.
