Trois pièces de jeunesse, trois dialogues avec des figures tutélaires de la musique classique. L’architecture musicale complexe du Quatuor n° 4 répond à l’espièglerie et à la séduction des danseuses. Avec La Grande Fugue, Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker fait aboutir pour la première fois sa quête d’un vocabulaire masculin en composant son oeuvre sur le thème de la chute. Dernier volet, La Nuit transfigurée scrute le sentiment amoureux à travers l’errance d’un couple démultiplié en autant d’images et de séquences de lui-même. Partageant la même intensité musicale, ces trois ballets s’accordent dans une osmose vibrante.

Marilyn was the 1st to admit she was no intellectual but when she sought the company of the best and the brightest eg Arthur Miller etc she assiduously exposed herself to music like Bella Bartok and serious Jazz and great plays. In the 60s it was still broadly understood that Modern Dance or Shakespeare or Bill Evans isn't going to come to you. You must go to it. Then you get the benefit of it. Out out brief candle.
