For those wondering, the songs sampled from other G&S Operas are in this order: "I have a song to Sing-O" from The Yeomen of the Guard "Tic-a-tank" from Trial By Jury "Act upon it if you can", Take A Pair of Sparkling Eyes from The Gondoliers "Nothing ventured nothing win", If You Go In from Iolanthe "Dance a Cachuca" from the Gondoliers again. They took advantage of their opportunity to give little bits of other operas in their assigned opera because they knew that sadly, the other G&S operas weren't as popular. I like how they slipped a bit more of the writers' works into the show.
The Brady Bunch on Hulu broghht me here. ...And here I thought i was into Broadway and musicals.... the gods have shown me true music today. Thank you!
@@lukapiripi Oh no, they absolutely do! Ask any experienced and capable singer about this and they'll say the same. A good singer avoids it as much as possible, but even the best of them are going to be at least a little sharp or flat every once in a while. Even the most skilled singers in existence aren't precise enough to be perfect all the time. Listen to the best singers without autotune and you should be able to hear it pretty easily. At times they even do it deliberately when singing with others to make certain chords sound "better".
Yus it was.. it only played Brisbane in Aug unsure about if it was to tour the rest of Oz. Ps.. it was a great show.. i seen it 3 times front row center...
Hot dayam! but this is awesome. I had forogotten how much I love G&S. Gonna be sure to catch Chicago's Lyric Opera production (Christmas 2010), but I'd like to see these guys, too. What fun! @sverigregrabb -- G&S did it themselves, sometimes; ever notice the major general boasting that he can "whistle all the tunes from that infernal nonsense Pinafore"? Lots of companies take a few liberties here and there, add in local jokes, etc. Almost a tradition, at least in these parts. :-D
Now do "The Little Wooden Boy."
Ben K Best laugh of the day.
Haben Sie gehört das deutsche Band?

Yes, "Tink-a-tank" is from Trial by Jury. It's the tenor's song, "When first my old, old, love I knew".
You forgot the "I have a song to Sing, O" from The Yeoman of the Guard
@@christianchan1144 Thank you, I have updated my comment to include it.
Simon Gallaher is just incredible. This is a tough song but for him it's effortless.
2020 and listening. Joined a theatre club 48 years ago, just for fun, and sang in the chorus. This brings back memories.
Very lovely! This takes me away back in the mid-1960’s in Montreal as I was growing it!😊
Got here from the producers but it's actually a really nice song

That voice is incredible - will give you goose pimples -incredible.
This is an excellent performance. The lead singer is just great and the fun comes through in the video. I'd love to see this live!
I love how musically, "Dance a Cachucha" blends back into the "A wand'ring minstrel I" coda, great use of the same key.
Is it just me, or is Simon's sense of pitch INSANELY good? He doesn't sound like he's EVER singing off tune.
I feel like no good singer ever sings off tune

Intentionally or not this was uploaded on Sir Arthur Sullivan's birthday (which happens to be the same as mine)
they only did the 3 - pirates, mikado, pinafore.
They also did "A funny thing happened on the way to the forum"

It’s a famous piece
Love this version, Simon and Helen are 100% better than Derek and Terri who perform in the N.Z. version.
