  • Two kinds of hunting in this week's show: professional stalker Phiz Phizacklea is out in the Austrian Alps after chamois. Meanwhile, a newcomer to deerstalking tries his luck with pro stalker John Dodd in the Highlands of Scotland after a red stag. In Austria, here are plenty of animals - the problem for Phiz is selecting the right one. In Scotland, the difficulty is getting close to just one. Plus Aaron is on the News Stump and Charlie has Hunting RUclips. It's all in this week's #FieldsportsBritain

    Nice film in Austria, with the emphasis on day out rather than on the kill. Really laughed at the "Ventile, it's like an organic form of GoreTex." (Wood, it's like an organic form of plastic.)

    What an enjoyable and varied show this week. David can't rest on his laurels what with Aaron on the news stump and Charlie doing his YTS filming fill in. David will be hoping that absence makes the heart grow fonder but I am sure he realises he can't go all Disco Diva on us as there is competition now.
    Albert of the Alps looks a top guide. Marches up the Alps pulling Phiz along in his wake only to get to the top and light up a cheeky puff.

    We need hunter harassment laws like they have in America. £1000 fine for harassing hunters or shoots

    • @slomo1562
      @slomo1562 4 года назад +1

      You would expect simple trespassing and harassment laws to be enforced but since they won't enforce those laws what makes anyone believe they will act honorably to enforce hunter harassment laws?

    Hi Guys, I am a South African living in Norway. I just wanted to correct a mistake I have noticed that keeps occuring. `Moose` translated to Norwegian is `Elg`. Elk is of course the large deer found in north america.

    • @fieldsportstv
      @fieldsportstv  4 года назад

      To add to the confusion....
      In Swedish this animal is called Älg. And in British English it is called Elk. In fact they are the same species, Alces alces. But this is when it gets really confusing… In North America there is another member of the Deer family, the Wapiti, which is often referred to as Elk. So, the Swedish Älg is called Moose in American English and an Elk in British English.

    Brilliant show but to much technology in that scope. For vermon control yes but not for game. Don't get me wrong I'd rather have a clean kill r a total miss. I just don't think all that technology's sporting

    Stunning scenery in Austria, what does Shamy taste like !! Is it similar to goat or venison ? .. I dont think that Mayor should be banning hunting shows in Liverpool, thats abusing his position. Should be the individual who decides whether to go and attend or not. It will also bring in revenue to Liverpool. 16:23 hunting a rhino !!! Im not an anti, but I thought these were endangered, nobody should be killing these. Where is the fun in killing such a majestic animal that needs protecting, all for a trophy !! 19:47 Elk hunting, wow what an experience. Wonder what Elk tastes like. Just cant get it this meat in North East of England.

    • @DirtRoadGroceryStore
      @DirtRoadGroceryStore 4 года назад +1

      If rhino are to be protected, funding must come from somewhere. Rhino are lucky there are those who are still willing to pay to hunt them. No one else is footing the bill.

    • @Elfin4
      @Elfin4 4 года назад

      @@DirtRoadGroceryStore So you protect a species by killing them? Surely you need to wait until they have recovered to such an extent that culling would be required to control the herds. This so called sport of trophy hunting only benefits the hunter and those getting paid. Its a lie to say this is conservation and Im not against ethical sustainable hunting.

    • @paoemantega8793
      @paoemantega8793 4 года назад +1

      @@Elfin4 To answer your questions. Yes, you do protect a species by killing them. Killing the weak, diseased, malformed and exceptional all helps the species survive more strongly the rigours of nature. Secondly, thousands of years of practice goes into managing them, and you quip "surely you need to wait until they have recovered". Go learn how herd animals are managed, you plan and make as small changes as possible. Accurate harvesting of animals produces better results. Lastly, this sport of Trophy hunting is not so-called, it is a real thing, and the benefits are monetary. You need money, I need money, the managers of the wildlife need money. It IS conservation, you don't know what you are talking about, stop calling people liars. Go do a trophy hunt and see how this works instead of dishing out accusations from your armchair. You arrogant fool.

      @@Elfin4 In the case of rhino there are very few animals culled, and those that are have to be of no value to the species as a whole. The old males, once past breeding age, are still aggressive towards other rhinos, sometimes killing them. This is an issue as it stops healthy rhinos breeding and can be detrimental to the species. Therefore, the older males, no longer viable for breeding, can be culled as a source of income. The fact remains that some people are happy to pay $200K or so to hunt a rhino. It's not something I'd want to do, but the money it generates is critical if we are to keep large tracts of land open for game / rhinos rather than cattle. If an animal needs to be removed for the benefit of the species, why not let someone pay to do it rather than have to pay a contractor? Why not let that person have the animal mounted on his or her wall so it can be revered and remembered for generations to come?
      The other option is horn trading. If this is legalised then all of a sudden rhinos are a valuable animal to have on your land, rather than just a very costly lure for poachers. The horns can be harvested every 2-3 years as keratin grows back fairly quickly (same material as fingernails).
      I'm by no means an expert on this, I just listen to a lot of experts on podcasts (check out Into the Wilderness by the Pace Brothers if you're interested).
      Cheers, M

    Trespassing should be given capital punishment.
    If they get injured during a shoot the gamekeeper will be blamed

    The anti trophy people... What's the purpose? It is not detrimental to the game and actually gives the game value. Hunting invests money in poor and under developed communities and the trophy helps tell the story.
    The only purpose I see is control and expressions of hate for people and ultimately animals.
