I can't count the number of songs Voiceplay helped me actually hear the full lyrics to.

I bought this the minute I heard it!! It's fantastic. They pay homage plus they do their own thing at the same time. The difference is that VP does everything themselves - no label backing. They do their own arrangements and videos... kudos to them. 🌹. Thanks for the reaction.

I often realize that I only understood a few lines of a song I thought I knew. But Voiceplay is so clear with the lyrics that it’s like hearing a song for the first time.

Everyone has their opinion. Pentatonix and VoicePlay both have amazing singers but for me VoicePlay wins with the creativity in their arrangements. They are just on another level! ❤

The beatbox/baritone/occasional violinist is Layne Stein (aka, vioLayne). He also arranged this one and designed/edited the video. The car belongs to his dad.

Voiceplay always pays homage to the original, but will never do a copycat version. Geoff has said, Why do something that someone else has already done?
This arrangement was absolutely fantastic! Great reaction!!

I don't know what it is about that drum solo; I've seen a bunch of reactors get prematurely indignant thinking it was being skipped. Glad you felt it was worth the wait!

Yep, the song IS about cheating. Actually, it's been written by Phil Collins about his divorce... And it is exactly what you perceived. 🙂
About the drum fill... It's been done exactly where it is in the original. 🙂
So many people, including me, tend to remember it as being present almost throughout the whole song, but it's not. It starts exactly where they've put it, and goes on cyclically to the end in the original, while Voiceplay changed this a bit, as they changed the ending... In a quite nice way. 🙂
Liked the reaction a lot. It's always nice to see people react to this one... And your reaction was nice to watch and follow. 🙂
BTW: J None was a permanent member of Voiceplay from 2018 'til 2021, when he was recruited by the Navy to sing with them. He always records with the guys when he's on leave. 🙂
If you're interested in Voiceplay's lineups through the years, here's a video by Huldra Draco telling it all: ruclips.net/video/R6WxCwHnebI/видео.html
They started in 1997 under the name of "4:2:5", thus being the oldest of the three "big groups" of a cappella, VP, Home Free and Pentatonix. 🙂
    See you next time!

It is a great version. They give it a slightly different feel to the original
Love the way Geoff is covering Leland Sklar with his bass voice 🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻
Leland has been Phil Collins's bass player since he went solo

I love VoicePlay! Beautiful cover! That’s great if you like both groups, there’s no contest. More music to enjoy! It’s all about personal taste. It took some time for me before I found things from Pentatonix that I liked, but now I’ve found some Christmas carols by them that I really enjoy! Still, VoicePlay is my absolute favourite.

I was just hoping this wasn't going to be sacrilegious - taking on Phil Collins and my teen memories of Genisis and Peter Gabriel. But I really enjoyed the slowed down beginning and was happy when they hit those drums. To me, however, Phil Collins is too iconic for this to top the original. Great as usual, Lee.

People forget how long the song goes on before Phil sits down a the drums. Patience! It comes when it comes. :) And it isn't clear what the song is about. I don't think Phil has ever said. You can read into it what you will. VoicePlay gave this an 80 feel with the costuming, the car, the worn VHS tape look etc. A nod to Miami Vice. If you know, you know, If you don't kow, look it up. :) I don't compare groups. Each is good in their own way, It's like comparing apples and oranges. I prefer VoicePlay for their wide range of genres, and their theatricality. But it's a personal choice.

Should check out Nonpoint’s cover of this song. It was on the Miami Vice movie soundtrack

The best cover of this song is by a channel called frog leap studios. I saw a comment on one of his songs saying metal is like bacon, everything is better covered by it

Why oh why do you lot have to stop and put your two pennies worth in, just shut up let the song finish then talk about it
