    "someone's cousin" lol
And here is my cubing story of anyone's interested. My best friend introduced me to cubing and I was fascinated by it so when I got home, I immediately ordered a cube and started learning before I even got one. Soon after, almost every kid in my area bought a cube and since I was the first one, they came to me to ask and learn things about it. It was a great time but soon after it just faded away and I was the only one that cubed. Now my pb single is 9.4x and pb average is 12.xx. I'm happy that I didn't quit cubing and it's mainly because of channels like yours. Your channel special impacted me since I fully understood and liked what you posted and I can't thank you enough for this.

Kinda reminds me of my story. I got my first (original Rubik's) cube from my late grandmother. I was happy about it but puzzled on how to solve this once I scramble it so I just scrambled it to see if I can figure it out. I couldn't. No one knew around me. I had limited access to the internet at that point so I downloaded and printed a very very beginner guide with basic algos and concepts. I also started to write down some own algos I figured out while learning. The first time I solved it I was riding in a car with my mom, I had the paper on the dashboard and I was working on it to pass time. I couldn't believe it when I finally did it, took about 45 mins. Next time it was around 30 and then 15 until I hit like 3 mins. I was so satisfied with the results I started to bring the cube with myself everywhere to see if I can improve, including high school. Some of my classmates had also cubes at home so they did the same and we started competing and figuring out how to make it faster including filing corners and lubing (and popping like hell). We ended up some cubes being taken by the teachers and getting them banned in general. :D After that about 10 years passed wihtout any events as I got bored of it and was terrified by the thought of learning 100s of algos just to be faster. About 3 yrs ago my (almost) 30yr old ass started to play with the cube again, going for a ~10usd moyu and then buying a gts3m after that. Now I'm having times well under 1 min and keep learning CFOP and figuring out my own methods again.

  • @aubreyapplewhaite
    @aubreyapplewhaite 2 года назад +8

I'm one of the few people who did work it out completely from scratch. First tried one in 1980 or it could be 1981 on a university visit there were some to play with in the waiting room. I became immediately addicted went and bought one the same week. I couldn't leave it alone it took me about 6 months to solve it with no help. I used a method that I've never seen anyone else use. It's inefficient compared CFOP but to this day I still feel happy inside that it's genuinely my method. I don't use it anymore but did teach my kid it and it's all they use. I have posted a video of it a few years back if you google with my name and rubik cube you should find it. I'm not a speed cuber can probably average 40-50 seconds but 40 years later I love the cube as much as I ever have.

That’s exactly why I started, well 50%. My brother learned, and it impressed me. So he helped me learn just to show off my friends. Now I’m 10 years old, turning 11 in 12 days. I can only solve a cube in just a little more 1 minute. That’s because in first grade, when I finished it, I immediately went to the 4x4. I eventually quit on that. One day in 4th grade, I tried starting cubing again. It took me 2 days to learn it. That year, on my birthday, my friend got me a 5x5. I solved it in less than 6 hours, with a sleep in the middle. Then came the 6x6. Right before 5th grade started where I am now. Now I just got the GAN 11 m pro from your video. I went back to the 3x3 to try cfop. I have been and still am a big fan of you. Keep up your great work.

Hi, I started speedcubing about two weeks ago. I already knew how to solve a rubiks cube with the beginner's method my cousin taught me, but I never really practiced it. I picked up my rubik's brand cube, because of a video of Mike Boyd in which he learned to solve a rubiks cube blindfolded. I thought this was really cool and I wanted to be able to do the same, but I thought it would be better to learn to speedcube first. I liked it so much that I made a deal with my parents. If my ao5 is less than a minute I'll get a new speedcube.
Thanks for reading this and goodluck with the giveaway everyone!

My story of being a cuber:
In my 7grade my math teacher say to us that we need to solve a rubiks cube in onder to past the 7grade ihad a classmate 2classmate that know how to solve a cube and iwas like wow and then iwas searching to youtube on how to solve a cube in the first day i learn how to solve a cross and corners and the edge is the one that is hard to figure out for me and also the yellow face and a pll ilearn it for just lessthan a week my classmate solve it for just 40-45sec then i do practice alot as ican to beat him iwas in the time that ican closely beat him and one day there was a 8grader coming room by room telling that hewant a race and i give it a shot and eventually i lose in that match and the next day he came back to our room and i ask him for a rematch because my hand was shaking in tha first day and i crused him suddenly he leave and say i will gonna call my fast solver classmate iwill not gonna put name on that and the fast solver crused me ithink his time was sub20orsub25
Btw i use biginner method but iknow just a little bit of f2l but i didnt use it cuz my hand was shaking and i cant do consistently my f2l after that i learn cfop i memorize like half of the oll and half of pll and iknow how to solve with using intuitive f2l and suddenly my buddy that cubing is not my classmate any more and iwas just like stoping cubing cuz idont have someone to beat and one day the school anounce that we have school compitition for rubiks cube i join and i think i am the one who use a cfop on 8grade btw my time was sub30in this school com iget the second place yayy and in the next week they call the top 3 to solve and and the winner will be the representative of the school and guests w what i won yeh but i lose in the eddis1(schoolcomp) iget 11/22 i am the one that will not come to devision (the next level for com) my cube is like a dollar cube and when i came back to my house i practice and pracctice and now from sub30now sub 15 within 5months i am happy for that and now i hope for my 9 grade i am the same person to represent our school and ihope ican get a rematch on the person that beat me hehehe
And that is my cubing story
    HAPPY CUBING GUYS
    Congrats for the 100k!!!
Keep up the good work for the community

Your story reminds me of us! My best friend also just took interest in solving the rubiks from one of her classmate (we were neighbor classes) and then, I tagged along when she bought her own cube (I also bought one), then regularly used it on our classes' free time. Then, lol, now that our school year just ended:
    1) our valedictorian referenced cubes as the theme of her speech (she's my bestfriend's other friend and obviously, can also solve the cube)
    2) atleast 5 people in my class have been studying how to solve one
    3) and all our friendgroup also had their hand on the cubes.
I think at this point they know whenever that friend and I are together there will also be a cube present- and also funny how at some point, during our club's meeting (not cubing related btw) there are just a number of cubes lying around from me, my bestfriend and all our other friends who eventually studied how to solve it.

I got many cubes in childhood,
Every time I went to a fair, and my parents forced me to buy an actual toy instead of just another story book, I would buy a Rubik's cube. It was really cheap plastic, and would break in a couple months.
Unlike people around me, I could actually Ron one face easily.
I regularly tried to solve 2 faces at once. I think at one point I even did 3 faces at once.
    Fast forward to college,
One of my friends roommate had a cube and he 2aa solving it Fully, I hadn't given any thought to it until then, and suddenly I wanted to learn.
He taught me we're supposed to do later by layer, and not face by face.
And he taught me to do 2nd layer also, by beginner's method.
Then I taught myself the last layer on RUclips, and finally bought a cube myself.
It's been 7 years since then.
    It's been a nice journey.
I'm not a speedcuber, my average is 80seconds, and PB is 55seconds,
I'm currently trying to get my average below 60 seconds, and I'm practicing F2L now.
I regret not deciding to learn F2L earlier...

    • @tperm3195
      @tperm3195 2 года назад

I started cubing 1 year ago, found his video.
Well it took me 3 weeks to get below 60 seconds.
If u want my advice it's basically just learn the algorithms, practice it maybe 20-30 times so that you'll have a little bit of muscle memory.
Then just scramble the cube, solve it.
      Keep doing that for hours.
I tried beginner method, well my best at it is 35 seconds.
Using CFOP took me 25-29 seconds.
My PB currently is 21 seconds.
