Nice! I'm actually amazed at how well Bumblebee functions as the base for that bot mode, and it's a much more believable jeep than the original Dorvack design (though, admittedly, part of the appeal of the Mugen Calibur is that it isn't a robot hiding itself inside a vehicle, instead it is a vehicle that was designed to transform into a robot, which leads to a mechanical design that feels very grounded.) The chest, admittedly, looks a little floppy and out of place, but that head, color scheme, and presence is impressive! It's great to see some of these classic and underappreciated mecha designs from the 80's getting some love!
@@jasonschneider7224 The chest is the toughest part. It should be flat and square but the transformation scheme wont allow it without partsforming. I should have just glued the parts on for the video but they had been working great without glue until the camera started rolling 😂
Incredibly clever custom, and looks fantastic. The colors you chose were spot-on, as well as the custom head and chest. And personally, I don't think the scale is that much of an issue because this is a special stand-alone piece. At least that's the way I look at it.
@@jetpackman01Thanks! I’m so glad it came together ALMOST exactly as I imagined it. And the scale won’t matter as long as he is in robot mode, which will be almost always :) Still need to get weapons and missle pods etc. anyway, thanks for watching and for the kind words 🙏
I sometimes wonder how the designers of Dorvack feel about how they designed the main mechas of an anime but most of the world only remembers them as background characters of a different much more popular franchise (until idw and to a lesser degree Rescue Bots Academy and Cyberverse brought Whirl into the spotlight). Then again, I wonder how many people would even know about Dorvack if not for Transformers. Still, I love the Mugen Caliber design and wonder what a modern version of the toy would look like. This custom gives me a good idea. Really inspiring stuff here.
@@Doiboy35Beetras, Toybox, Diaclone, all kinds of disparate designs. They have been homogenized over the years but I have a huge 3rd party Omega Supreme, no WAY that gets made w/o transformers. Thanks for watching, and I appreciate your comment, thats exactly the kind of stuff I enjoy thinking about with these toys/designs.
@MantisNineNines I just got my Decepticon Mayhem Attack Squad 2 pack (ok technically 3 pack) that adds 2 more of the Beetras bros to my collection. Apparently one of them, Barrage, is an unstoppable berserker. My headcanon is that he subconsciously knows he was supposed to be the lead mecha of his own franchise but now isn't even the leader of the deluxe Insecticons. Hope Hasbro releases Venom sooner than later.
WOW! 🤩COOL custom! 😊👍
