- Three days into the show and we’re all a bit slap happy and talking about some of our favorite novelties from Hermès, Cartier, Oris, Chopard, and Parmigiani. We also talk a bit about the general mood of the show, which we’ll discuss more on our final show tomorrow. But first, we talk about: Hermès’ new ladies’ watch and whether it’s actually a ladies’ watch; Oris’ new Aquis and why the lack of any mega releases might actually be the best thing for the Swiss watch industry; and we finish with dress watches from Chopard and Parmigiani Fleurier’s update of the Toric collection.

After watching many watch channels for a very long time, I think it's fair to say that this one is my favo one!
In the event Hodinkee reads this, just a quick suggestion if I may. Make the thumbnail/main image for these more obvious it’s a radio/discussion piece- like a photo of you guys together, a microphone icon or something. As example, I nearly missed this one as the photo is a big closeup of a watch so hints at being a review rather than a discussion with you all. Maybe some other (potential) viewers miss your ‘radio’ discussions for this reason. Ps. Really enjoying your work at W&W. Thx as ever for the great (& free) content! All the best.

Parmigiana pricing seems outrageous. On the secondary they are about half. Who is the buyer at MSRP?
Yeah I adore parmigianis design direction the last couple years but I don’t know if I’d get close to paying that. The market around me for those seems to be incredibly wealthy people who already have everything else. maybe 15k for the micro rotor would move me
@@markanderson1932 I too like the design very much. I don’t know total watch production per year for PF but it’s got to be quite low and as a result the consumer bears the cost of the whole watch making operation. I strongly considered the Tonda in steel with blue dial then was offered a Blue Skydweller on Jubilee from AD and the decision was made. The Tonda line is very good looking but not at the current pricing.
Malaika is pure gangster.
I wish they spent more time on the "how many watches do people actually buy" conversation, because it really underlines all of the releases we've seen this year. Most people don't even own a watch anymore. Most people, if they absoultey have to buy a watch, buy a sub $100 Casio or Timex. Most people would audibly laugh at the idea of spending more than $100, $1000, and even $10,000 which has kind of become the "norm" in watch buying. Most people think you're clinically insane for spending that much on a watch.
Having observed that as true, and staying with the idea that a mechanical watch will last you the rest of your life, and will probably be ticking long after you're dead, it really frames how many watches each of us actually need. Even if you're in the super minority and buy one watch a year, which is completely unnessecary, why do brands need to keep coming out with these "hero pieces" every year? That pace is unsustainable and I think we're starting to see the entire market return to normal.
Malaika brings so much to the show, there shouldn't be one without her.

Ignorant question: is it pronounced ermes or hermes? Is saw an interview on watchadvisor a couple of days ago with the man who designed the Cut, he seemed to have pronounced the H every single time he mentioned the brand.
