I totally feel your pain, my friend! My hair can get like that too!! Blow drying my hair upside-down helps or just pulling up on my roots when I blow-dry. It's super high maintenance but it works for me!

I bought a brush called the Tangle Teaser from Target a while back and I swear it has saved my hair since it brushes through my backcombing like no other! I just make sure I brush through it before I shower and by the time I use my conditioner and rinse my hair is back to normal! Some people really like the Wet Brush and I've tried it, like it, but I prefer the Tangle Teaser for brushing out my backcombing. Hopefully this helps you! My hair style is exactly the same as yours and I have a very similar colour but yet you look amazing but when I do this hair style it looks terrible!!??
you should only co washing and just avoid any silicones of the hair for to be more looking good and healthy so this way you avoid the splits on the ends
wash one or two times with a sulfate shampoo for get rid from the build up from the silicones and then use only sulfate free and silicone free products
