This may have been said already but I do recommend watching the intro each time - it changes from episode to episode to show you which locations you'll be focusing on 😊
So a couple of things: -The “mad man” at the beginning was killed by Ned as a deserter; It's like going AWOL from the military. He was sworn to an ancient order called the Night's Watch, which is the same one Jon Snow wants to join. They can’t have sex or marry. -Ned wanted to kill the pups because they would not have survived with their mother dead. Also they're not regular dogs, they’re Direwolves, dangerous beasts of animals that shouldn't be south of the wall in the first place. -Also Catelyn, Ned's wife, can’t go south because someone still needs to lead the north in her husband's absence. - idk if you noticed but you said Daenerys, the platinum blonde girl, reminds you of the girl from House of the Dragon, because that show is based on her family, the Targaryens. My favourite behind the scenes fact of this episode is that before they filmed the scene where the boys are getting a trim, the three actors (Richard as Robb, Alfie as Theon, and Kit as Jon) all smashed sit-ups, trying to out-do each other, until one was nearly sick so they could look as muscular as possible.
Each intro tells you where the episode is focusing on (the world is big, and characters are spread over different territories). Some main characters only appear every other episode. The intro map helps you remember where you are
The first season is SOOOO important for later seasons. Like the conversations that are had. Things you didn’t think were that important become huge. So listen to everything. I’d even recommend taking notes. You may not hear the reference again till 3 or 4 seasons later or even till the last couple of seasons but it is all relevant. Season 1 is background and Lore.
lol no one took notes when watching at home, it's ridiculous to expect that of reactors. The worldbuiding is progressive. Things casually mentioned will be brought back again later - it's all very organic for the viewer/reader. No notes necessary.

It was so hard for me to get into this show because of the hype but I gave in last year & so glad I did it’s one of my favorite shows ever keeps you on your toes!
I really appreciate you going for a longer running series. I've realised one of the reasons I enjoy your reactions is because you're different to people I know and other reactors I've watched, which brings new insights to each series. Also, you're really funny :) My only irrelevant comment for this episode is I found it a deep shame and mistake that they changed Drogo and Dany's wedding night from the books, where he was pretty respectful and did not force her. My issue (apart from the horror) is that it negatively colours anything that comes after between them.
Northern Inuit dogs a type of husky breed were used to portray the direwolf puppies. Later they would use wolf dog mixes from a wolf sanctuary that were be digitally enhanced. Sadly the last one used a wolfgod named Yuri died recently.
I know it's still the first episode, but I highly recommend you watch the Histories and Lore Season 1 after the finale of season one, and the season two, season three, etc after each season finale. It is an animated storybook filled with the deeper lore the show could not fully display due to the books being so deep and expansive. The stories are actually voiced by the actors of the show and is a must watch in my opinion for new reactors so they can truly connect with this large and complex world crafted by George R.R. Martin. Anyways, I'll be looking forward to each new upload!
