- My first impressions of IloIlo Philippines Land of smiles. Today I finally land in IloIlo and give you a condo tour of where I stay in the Philippines, then we go to Madge Cafe a famous Coffee shop in IloIlo and do a food trip down to Chow king as well. I visit the beautiful Calle Real and explore IloIlo some more and finally walk down IloIlo River Esplanade

ILOILO is like the BETTER MANILA. Food and people
Iloilo is part of Panay Island shared by three other provinces Antique, Aklan, Capiz each of the provinces have their own distinct languages but each would be able to understand Filipino (essentially tagalog) because it is one of our two official languages the other one being English. but the way they speak Tagalog has an accent that if you're a native tagalog speaker it will be easy for us to pick up not only the fact that you're from the province but from what province you are. it will be easy for us to pick out a person is from Iloilo by the way they speak Tagalog

Only antique and Aklan speak different language but the rest in panay speak ilonggo and the lingua franca of panay is ilonggo all province use ilonggo language to understand not Tagalog. And antique language is similar to ilonggo that's why when you said panay its ilonggo island. Ilonggo dominant. Aklan is a very small province in panay and some areas of Aklan are ilonggo and karay.a speaking so ilonggo is panay Island... Panay Island is ilonggo island
I try to speak ilonggo without an ilonggo accent. I think it's funny..😅
A little Correction. Ilonggo means the people living in Panay especially in Iloilo, Hiligaynon is the dialect that they speak.
Iloilo City is a walkable city. You can just walk wherever you want to go. The first Esplanade is in Iloilo. They incorporate it in other cities even in Boracay for people to have a venue to walk. Check out old churches here and the different Plazas. We tried to preserve our heritage. And don't forget to try our local food and batchoy, just let them know that you don't eat pork. They will offer you beef batchoy. And our seafoods. Enjoy you stay in Iloilo.
Thanks for showing where I used to live as a child! Bohol, Iloilo, Cebu, Manila. Visited Palawan as an adult and its just beautiful. Enjoy the Philippines and its people!!!

That's the Eusebio Vilanueva building ( 1930's) or the Washington International Hotel when you see that it tells you're in the heritage zone of Iloilo. And Calle Real is the Heritage zone of Iloilo 😊

That's quite far for a tricycle ride.. You may Ride a taxi or Grab around the City.. Not a common trasport for that far from port to Avida. Much Faster and more comfortable.

Sir PK,Chow King and Mang Inasal are both owned by Jollibee. And don't forget words with an ng in the middle,the g is not pronounced,only if the word has the ngg in the middle that the g sound should be pronounced.
Mang inasal original are Iloilo,inside Robinson....The logo is Big Chicken statue..,the highest hotel na original owners of Mang inasal"the Jollibee only business partners only.....

The Iloilo Esplanade is compose of 10(so far) semi-contiguous paved bricks lane which is around 10-11 kms long it featured the mural/relief of the Dinagyang festival which happens every January

If you ever end up in Molo, try Jo-Ann's Fishball and also Kap Ising's Pancit Molo. It's in GT Mall - Molo. Try the Bibingka as well. Our bibingka is very different from Manila. It has way more meat then flour. Better to go in the late afternoon in Molo as it has way many street food. But if you end up in the morning, instead of Bibingka, try panara. It's shaped like empanada but very different content. Ask for the garlic dipping with it. Panara is sold in San Jose Molo. Just ask the tricycle drivers near Iloilo Supermart Molo. These are delicacies that are prepared and made way different from other regions.
You can also go and see old houses at Silay City, Negros Occidental called as the Paris of Negros
Esplanade she means is the river walk along Iloilo river. You may also visit Festive walk at night

There's no Angkas in Iloilo City since there's no heavy traffic compared to Manila. Angkas only operates in the city that has a congestion.

The original Madge Cafe is at Lapaz market which is currently being renovated. The place you visited is also the "commercialize version" of the cafe. You will also find the original Lapaz batchoy, a Filipino comfort food - in that market.

Iloilo speaks Bisaya but not cebuano spoken. We always put in our mind that waray, Bol anon & other languages in Visayas Region are Bisaya too. Thus Cebuano spoken in Mindanao are not Bisaya! They're Cebuano spoken Mindanaoans

Would like to correct the way you deliver. the word "ingat"..it goes like this...i-ngat you have to pronounce the "i' as long e then followed with " ngat"
