It's especially dangerous for speedskaters, as compared to hockey players and figure skaters, because figure skaters' skates aren't as thin and hockey players have load and loads of padding. Speedskaters, on the other hand, have next to zero protection to enhance aerodynamics, and their blades are long and sharp as hell. Several people have been pierced by speed skates.
