Hello and welcome to my channel, Today I will take you on a journey through time and space to relive the magic of Walt Disney Worlds past attraction. In this episode, I present to you my Super 8mm video footage restored and upscaled 4K video of the iconic Horizons ride at Epcot, Walt Disney World.
Horizons was an extraordinary attraction that once captivated the imaginations of millions of guests, taking them on an unforgettable voyage through the possibilities of the future. Sadly, this beloved ride is no longer operational, but I am here to bring it back to life through the power of digital restoration and technology.
Using todays techniques, I have enhanced and upscaled the original low quality footage, allowing you to experience the ride in stunning detail and clarity. Every scene, every animatronic, and every bit of futuristic scenery has been brought back to its former glory.
As we glide through the awe-inspiring scenes, you will witness families envisioning their lives in various futuristic settings, such as underwater cities, desert farms, and even space colonies. Your videos, whether you realize it or not, are probably the greatest collected case for the Disney parks greatest problem: The parks develop an identity crisis over time. Your collected work demonstrates the erosion of initial concepts, the subsequent battle that begins as refurbishments need to be made, that battle being creativity versus budget and the slow descending of each parks “theme” into whatever idea they can stretch into that theme - finally resulting in the replacement of original concepts into IP driven rollercoasters.
This entire channel is doing more than traveling into nostalgia. It literally contains the secrets that make great theming possible. Take, for example, MGM studios. The videos demonstrate the strength of the concept - even if the concept does come directly from Michael Eisner’s anxiety in the newly emerging Universal park. Regardless, MGM knows exactly what it is. They bring you through the creative process of film making, through movie sets, through the movies themselves. They place you into the world of Hollywood - not as a spectator - but from the perspective of a creative contributor. With each entry into the progression of the park, you watch that idea die away. Then you watch Disney cease to organize that concept into their own history and purchasing of film studios, and instead of serving as an ode to the creative process featuring Disney IP, the park becomes recreations of those IP’s in physical form. Down and down, until the idea of the park - to bring you into the creative process of film, becomes something else entirely - cold feeling lands that feature ip characters.
The only place that has been exempt from this “identity crisis over time” is Fantasy Land, minus some strange alterations.
My guess is that they will continue to deplete the core concepts of each theme in the name of “easy to make roller coasters” and slapped together themes. Until nothing has a cohesive point.
Where as Yesterworld functions as a document on ride history, as does defunctland - though that’s becoming a more long form “new film network,” this channel is starting to serve as the blueprint on how magic becomes regular old dust. The recipe seems to be: to trivialize your theme park and make it lose its fantastic quality, go against your initial concept, replace imagination with known identities and give people loops and lasers instead of tours through worlds and passions.

There were RUclipsrs are ex cast members that when in all throughout parts of this ride tgey had business doing. A RUclipsr did a doc on them it was very interesting. There names were toot and cheef or something like that anyways one of them as pass on from cancer now..but they did some of the crazy stuff off this ride i mean onto the ride set and display crazy stuff smh unthinkable stuff. While the ride was going on..smh lol smh..

@@rosenbergjr10 @MsDisneylandlover is talking about 2 dedicated Horizons superfans that urban explored the attraction in the mid 90's to document whatever they could of the ride before it closed in 1999. Their nicknames were Hoot and Chief.
