"Chimera" & "Ordo Ad Chao" were Mayhem's peak in my opinion. It's too bad Blasphemer left the band. The new guitarists don't have the same essence, just generic material.
They didn't. They became forerunners in tech-metal and the next level of black metal. I'm not talking 2nd wave blackmetal, this band accomplished feats of technicality and songwriting from album to album when their peers were just starting
