Wow, Justin! Only have one word... Inspiring. I enjoy using my scroll saw and have used one most of my life. But nothing close to this level. Great work!
Justin's work is awesome! It's truly amazing how much depth and definition can be achieved through using the different species of wood without any stain or paint. The application of that clear coat really brought the rose to life! He's certainly a master with that scroll saw too! Thanks for showcasing another talented craftsman! Thanks Eric. HAPPY NEW YEAR ! I hope that 2023 is kind to ALL of us. This guy is Obviously BOTH an Artist, AND a Craftsman. I bet that looks Great on your wall. 😎🇺🇸
Love the way he use the different types of woods for color, how he oriented the grain to make an ilusión of flow and the type of art he choose that is very rare to see in intarsia! This is amazing! Love it! ❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥

I always tell people that when money becomes involved it takes the fun out of it and it becomes work. I give away most of the things I make.
Excellent video. This technique is something I’ve wanted to try for a while now. Love how it ends up looking and I’m such a fan of a satin finish. Makes it look just right. Stellar work.
This was a very enjoyable video. Very laid back and well paced. No bothersome noise or music. Dialogue to a minimum. Thanks. My one question though is, how do you keep your shop so clean with all that sanding and shaping? Did you do a ton of cleaning during and between takes? Also, where and how have you managed to accumulate all the different species of wood? It appears that you have quite a store of different woods to choose from. I see a fortune sitting there in your wood supply alone. Thanks again for a great video.
Awesome work. How much does thickness of woods come into play? I would have thought the first piece was way too thick. What do I know? All the scroll work is amazing

Justin is incredible at what he does BUT can we PLEASE stop with saying "packing tape lubricates the blade"? Tape is an adhesive which is an exact opposite of a lubricant. You're adding GLUE to your blade!
I mean, it lubricants the process. Be it by lubing the blade or just cooling it off while cutting and aiding in chip out and dust removal. But also, put some wood glue between two pieces of wood and tell me that ain’t sliding around til the glue tacks up.
@ScrollSawScribbler it will COAT the blade, yes. And yes, it will aid in "dust removal" as that dust ADHERES to the tape. I will absolutely die on the hill that an adhesive can not be a lubricant.
@ScrollSawScribbler let me be clear about this. I do not care that anyone uses packing tape when scrolling. Hell, I've done it on occasion. Calling it a lubricant, though, that's just not correct.
It is not the glue specifically that lubricates the blade. The glue in packing tape and painter's tape has a release agent included. The release agent does lubricate the blade. You see this most prevalently when cutting wood like cherry. You will often scorch the wood from friction heat. If you add tape the scorching will go away. The blade is lubricated and causes less friction heat. Less heat also means longer-lasting sharpness and less breakage. If you tend to push a scroll saw blade past it becoming dull then tape makes a huge difference. If you replace the blade before it becomes dull the tape is less helpful. Most scrollers run blades way past dull.
I don’t care what they say you’re an artist! And a good one at that.
