I assumed he’d just snipped that bit 😂 navigating commercial properties 101 - spend first, complement second, explain third, and then drop the questions
Notto mention the watter. I don't know if I am an oddity, but after a few hours of my feet getting watterlogged, I feel like I am walking on sharp gravel, barefoot.
Yeah also 32 miles where he didn't really know where he was going, mentally having to think about every turn and direction the whole way must have added a lot too it although maybe distracted him a bit also from the pain.
Nice, I remember looking at the progress graphic at the end of the first episode and thinking there’s no way he’s going to pull the rest of that off in the remains of the day. Another pleasant surprise ending for me for one of your adventures, Tom! Congratulations, mate! And thanks as always for brightening a weekend for me.
Word of advice Tom. Never run when in a field with Cattle. Just walk. They may come up to you, but generally out of curiosity. But running makes them run and see you as a threat.
@@Johan91NL Cows kill a lot of people every year. When you're not used to being around big animals and don't know how they act and react to things they can be scary and dangerous.
That was my favorite since Norway I think? Also glad to have lived long enough to hear Tom refer a twenty something woman as "young lady" and it sound perfectly appropriate. Cheers Tom!
This is so funny. Ive walked under that motorway bridge when i was on an adventure from Acton Trussell when i was about 16 with my mate. (Who worked at moat house) When you came out on the 449 I thought about that tunnel. Teddersley is private. Ive ridden a horse called splash at that trekking centre. Loving this knowing where i am!!! Born in Cannock, living in Stafford.
Tom, your adventure videos are by far the content I enjoy the most on the internet. Very peaceful, no pointless screaming, good music...Love your spirit man I wish you the best always!
Is it bad I preferred this more to the straight line missions? I much more enjoyed your ability to deviate if necessary, but are limited by other arbitrary challenges instead, which aren't absolute challenges like sticking to a line, but are still a factor in deciding where you can go. There's also something so mysterious about not knowing where you are and needing to use clues around you to find it out. Adds so much more tension, plus lets the viewer play along and see if they can find where you are before you realise it yourself. Overall, a great video/videos, thoroughly enjoyable. And as usual, Verity is a saint, you're so lucky to have someone so willing to help you and be supportive with these challenges. I hope we can see this challenge again some day :)
Straight line is good, but a bit too 'planned' and strict. This feels more authentic as he's just using his own knowledge of the region and nav skills; mistakes and diversions are part of the journey in this format, not a detriment to the challenge.
Just a heads-up, you might want to check whether those square ghosting artefacts all through this and the last episode are happening in camera or during post-processing. If it's happening in camera, it might be an indication that the sensor is on the way out. Don't want you to go on another mad adventure and have it ruined if the artefact get's worse and the footage is unusable. 👍
You're on a heroic level with these videos mate. Literally on par or perhaps better than Sunday nights as a young lad watching Jezza and the rest on Top Gear (or another highly viewed TV show).
So difficult for a Swede to watch this thinking it’s ”illegal” to go through someone’s property lol. In Sweden we have a law called ”allemansrätten” which means that every man are allowed on any land. You could even put up a tent on someone’s backyard (if you don’t disturb the owner). So crossing through some fields isn’t really a problem 😂😅 Well done Tom! 👏👏👌
Surely there's some minimum distance to a house that you can be on? I don't imagine you'd be allowed to pitch a tent 3 meters from someone's kitchen window.
@@MarcelVos I'm guessing there are other charges that you can get that aren't trespassing. You can have the right to roam but not to disturb someone's livestock and etc. also love your vids Marcel!
The only thing stated in the law is that your are not allowed to ”disturb” the land owner. There’s been cases when campers camp and set up a grill and stuff on someone’s backyard. No illegal activity to do so, but it’s common sense to not do so lol. But there wasn’t any penalties or such for the one who did it.
”Private roads are often an integral part of outdoor recreation and they allow us to make use of our Right of Public Access. They can take us to lakes, fishing waters, berry-picking grounds and other popular spots. Vehicle traffic can cause severe wear and tear to private roads. Owners therefore have the right to ban vehicular traffic. However, they are not permitted to prohibit people from walking, cycling or riding horses along their road unless this would cause damage.”
So good! I’m loving this concept, as with all of your adventure vids. You have a great gauge for making things just challenging enough that they might not be doable, and yet still managing to just barely pull them off. Cheers, Tom! Hope we get more like this.
It's such a refreshing video instead of a straight line, being able to be flexible but to have to puzzle your way through was an exciting watch. I think following main roads after you've established where you are yourself is fine!
I've loved your witty and wonderful writing and commentary for many a video, and this one is among my favorites of yours! I enjoy the journey each video takes, showing how life can lead you down its own path. It is quite inspiring, making me want to keep exploring and writing. Thanks for the great time!
As someone originally from Rugeley with a sister who used to live in Lichfield, it was really nice to discover that you were in this part of the country. On the first video I knew you were talking about Pye Green when you mentioned the tower.
Loved this little mini adventure! Would like to see you do this again. What I liked most was seeing how you deducted your location with the sun and landmarks. Really fun watch!
oh my GOD! I can remember an immense walk me and my friend went on, getting lost through Cannock Chase and finally making it to that small cafe on one of the hottest days of 2021, absolutely mental seeing that one.
I really like this small adventures, like this or a tenner in the pocket. For me it's just chill to watch them and they have such a nice vibe. Keep on with the great content
I didnt expect it would be 2 episodes, I thought it would be at least 3 because you wouldnt make it on time back i thought. How did I doubt you..😂 My favourite series of you!!!! I love it. I rewatched the 1st episode already multiple times. Cannock chase is where me and my boyfriend go for walks, when I visit England. I will suggest next time to walk without maps 😊
Well done Tom. As a fellow Lichfeldian the circle of probability where you were stranded was wisely (and kindly) chosen - you could have been dumped in Merry Hill 😂
Congrats on successfully completing that. I can't believe you did over 30 miles in a day and could still jog at the end. I once did about 27 miles in a day and hobbled home and was in pain for days after. I think finishing at the cathedral means you did a bit of a pilgrimage in the end!
As someone from Brereton who spends a lot of time exploring the Chase, this was as exciting as it was excruciating to watch as I knew where you were going wrong!! Incredible effort matey, we are lucky to live in such a beautiful part of the country for sure 👍🏻
51km with muddy paths, swamps, fields, and forests. That's the distance from my home to my cabin, and I wouldnt walk that by road if you paid me. Great job!
My favorite youtuber! A cozy sunday! it’s a match made in heaven. I loved this part 2! Can’t wait for the next adventure!!! Also listening to you’re album right now, brings back good memories of all you’re videos :)
The IRL series are so relaxing yet sometimes thrilling to watch. The danger levels definitely vary a lot. Btw it would be awesome to see you do a mission across Denmark. Straight line or not. A lot of quirky islands and friendly people. Go in the summer :)
I have always wondered if you've ever encountered Heracleum mantegazzianum (giant hogweed). 11:30 definitely spooked me a bit as the burns can last quite some time and are particularly nasty, and to fall into a hole with any of it... the look to the camera at 6:29 with "we'll cross that bridge when we come to it" sent me
I can't explain why but that was just the funniest expression, I had to rewind that bit like five times or so haha

True 😮
Same I am in rugeley

Yeah when he saw a sign for Gnossal almost straight away I knew where he was. But not using roads would still make it hard
