Some things I do know about whale sharks is: (1) they can grow to an average length of around 46 feet, but their largest recorded length, although very rarely, is up to 'nearly' 60 feet. (2) Their average life span is up to 70 years. (3) They can only swim up to 5 km/h. (4) Their closest relatives are nurse sharks and zebra sharks. (5) Whale sharks are filter feeders that mostly consume plankton, but will some time consume large groups of very tiny fish as well. (6) There are several subspecies of whale sharks- Mexican Gulf Whale Shark, Ningaloo Whale Shark, Galapagos Whale Shark, Maldives Whale shark, Belize Whale Shark, and Panamanian Whale Shark. (7) Their coloration ranges from blue to grey or even brown. (8) Yes, whale sharks can show some signs of curiosity, once in a while.
Not the least curious about the divers. If you had known a little about this gentle giant migrant, you would know that it does only two things: It swims and it eats, all its time. The menu consists of krill, plankton and small fish. And that type of small crustaceans, shrimp, fish, swarm/school in huge numbers. So what has that got to do with it? The bubbles look like swarming small fish. That's why whale sharks often swim after divers. They are trying to eat the bubbles.

He was like "sup dudes" ?
"BUBBLES! Bububublulbulbulbuulblulu... my bubbles."
Yeah, it looks as if he is fascinated by the bubbles, but totally ignores the divers.
Out of the blue a whale shark appears and watches divers doing safety stop...
Happened during our latest dive trip, near Similan Islands, Feb 2014.
Worlds largest fish.

+The Documentary Network+ I wish I would encounter a whale shark like this. Those creatures are so beautiful.
For some undefinhable reasons whale sharks, orcas, humpback whales seem to like us. Thank´s god, otherwise yachting would be a dangerous thing.
