I swear, the venn diagram of people who do fish and people who do plants is near about a circle. I am so jealous of all the windows and natural light you guys get! I hope Lisa's monstera peru takes off, I have about 30-40 clippings of mine in water right now, but they've been slow to root.
I was 100% loving this whole video, even taking notes. Then BAM ! Cats! Consider me 8,000% committed to the video. I have an air-rooted philodendron that I’m going to cut and plop into my tank tonight.
Crazy plant lady here! Legit laughed out loud at the beginning, had to run and show my husband. He has never felt so seen & stands with you in solidarity 🤣😂😅
I've had to convert my wife to liking plants. When we were dating she tolerated my umbrella plant, snake, pothos and ivy, but she was superstitious that plants attracted spiders. She doesn't mind aqquarium plants as I'm sure she likes the idea of spiders drowning.
Also the absolute best plant in water propagation imho is the Dracena Trifasciata “snake plant”. NASA took these plants to space because of how much oxygen they produce. I did an experiment with different cuttings and didn’t change out the water. Every single plant grew algae and the water turned brown and plants started dying because of the stale water. No exaggeration, the snake plants water looked cleaner than it was when I first put it in, in fact it became my cats water bowl, she refused to drink from anywhere else, there is something magical about this plants ability to clean air/water so efficiently 😂
Thanks this is what I needed. I tried aquarium plants in my goldfish tank but they ate every single everything. This is my next step putting plants that grow outside the tank
It was great watching this video. All your plants, your cats & your dog. I enjoyed it so much. Love your out door property all that land beautiful grass. Your blessed, thank you for sharing!!!!
Well sorry John that you didn't find your wire but thats karma for not taking Lisa. But happy you found it online. The more plants the better the air and more beautiful enviroment. Lisa's green thumb should be cherished as John will be with his aquarium aquatic plant shop. Nothing more beautiful than plants growing in and above your tank. Proof.. just look at Lisa's plants 😍😍😍 in Texas though our houses turn to caves to hot for lights except the aquariums. I moved all my tropical plants to covered patio and cuttings come in to hydroponic propagate, then into aquariums they go when rooted. Love them so much. #teamplants #teamfish #teamwaterchange
I love the fish videos but I thoroughly enjoyed watching Lisa talk about her plants. How does she keep an eye on her plants, fishes and beloved cats??? 😅😅😅😅
Beautiful. Beautiful plants, beautiful tanks, beautiful people. Thanks so much. I read the crown of the plant needs to be out of the water for the plants to survive. Succulents don’t like wet feet, basically. The plants you showed us like water. It’s such a wonderful concept. Fish tanks and house plants. I’m trying to figure out how to have my plants safely floating.
Your plants are stunning Lisa, and your propagating them so much you could start your own plant nursery! I’m seeing some I’d like to add to my own collection I started. I also can’t get enough of your cute cats, I love them so much!
The plants look lovely, its really nice seeing so much green! On that subject, i guess Lisa also "rescues" plants from stores all the time (i know i do:))!
Lisa ur right, cuttings should be rooted in plain water first. If you put them straight into an aquarium they will uptake ammonia and nitrates which will encourage foliage growth. For best root system development you should let the main root grow to about 3-5 inches long. When it’s starts producing secondary roots off the main root stem transfer to the aquarium with confidence.
I'm even more obsessed with plants than I am with aquariums, so this is great! I have multiple varieties of pothos, Aglaonema, and monstera, plus much more. I LOVE them! Just yesterday, I got my hands on a Peru Monstera!
Thanks for the video of Lisa and her plants. Have you ever thought about doing a vegetable garden? You could do a really awesome irrigation system to distribute the fish poop water. Oh, and you now have given my wife some new ideas for her plants.😟
Hilarious video you two have made my day - Lisa’s plants and John supposed to have broken some I couldn’t stop laughing - gorgeous pets you have also x
Yay Lisa and her plants 😍😍 she's totally right ... plants are good for you!! You can never have too many plants. That's like saying that you have too many bettas 🤣 you really can't!!
I love the plants being everywhere. My mom was a huge plant lover and had almost as many as you 😊 If a stem broke, she tried to get it growing again. Thanks for the tour!!
Recently got my first small pothos for my 55 Angel tank and it has sprung its first new growth. I’m super excited. John and Lisa, you have really inspired me to better care for my fish and try new things. Thank you for all your content, and especially this vlog, it’s fantastic!!
Hi Lisa, I have an extensive plant collection and now I would like to start having fish. I have been watching your channel so hopefully I can start off the right way. Love Love the Discus fish!! Everyone says. Not the beginner fish. :(
"You have enough plants" Oh, it coudn't be that bad, can it? Followed by lisa showing off her gallery of plants. haha. Glad Im not the only one always on the lookout for new plants.
Lisa might have been mad you didn't take her to Lowe's but probably for the best because once you found out they didn't have the wire you were looking for you would have wanted to leave to go to another store. She would have wanted to spend an hour or two looking at plants while the whole time you'd be like...we gotta go!
John, if you break her plant, technically that's now considered a new "cutting" of the plant. She should be thanking you. haha. I love the joy and excitement Lisa shows for her plants.
I understand, John. I can't tell my wife I'm going anywhere near a library or second hand bookstore or she will insist on coming along and spending hours 'just looking around' before bringing 10-20 books home with her. How is luck a superpower? It's certainly not very cinematic.
I love her pronunciation of pothos, every time I attempt to say it I have a hidden Mexican accent that i don't even have pop out. 😂 then I'm compelled to say "Pothos Locos Forever" - Blood In Blood Out.
I have tried every aquarium plant and my gold fish just destroy them. This is the only way I can kinda have plants. This us great!!! Need more houseplants you can use in your aquarium ❤❤❤
hahahh straight to jail! do not pass go, do not collect $200! omg I love Lisa so much! her lil idiosyncrasies are adorable af. that huge monstera is so gorgeous, no wonder it's her favourite and earned itself a private uhaul journey! i'm currently attempting to grow 2 fully submerged monstera monkey face cuttings in my tank and they are juuuuust bout to open their first leaves. I only got my first aquarium (since childhood) 4 weeks ago but i've been growing plants in still water for over 5 years now (adhd life hack) and I think Lisa's advice to root in a separate container is a really really good idea as the plant will usually metabolism part of the stem to produce roots, causing it to eventually rot, and the fresh cut in the stem can rot because the cells are waterlogged and weakened. either way, this is an ammonia spike risk so keeping that out of an inhabited tank would save you a swing in the water parameters + extra cleaning over the 2 to 8 weeks it could take to rot away. my hot tips that Lisa needs to hear are: 1. you can use gravel/rocks in the vases/jars to house bacteria to create a ll nitrogen cycle that, as you both know, helps rotted-down leaves/roots turn into nitrates, giving you a self-fertilizing system. 2. check out "semi-hydroponics" aka "passive hydroponics" which involves growing plants in leca balls (expanded clay balls) and scoria (lava rock gravel). there is a great youtuber called The Leca Queen who Lisa will love (she's a busy mum with a dedicated plant room so no one can bump into her plant babies and snap any stems) and if you go watch her channel, you'll learn all about how... 3. fiddle-leaf fig trees LOVE growing semi-hydroponically. i know the words "fiddle-leaf fig" might not mean anything to you John, but to hot plant girlies like Lisa and I, it is SUPER freakin exciting. they would do great planted securely in a little basket with scoria, hung on the side of the tank, or even planted directly in scoria/large gravel in a sump. I haven't tested it out yet as i'm still deep in tank build mode, figuring out what fish to get & wondering how the hell I went from 0 tanks on february 1st, to 5 tanks on february 20th.
I'm so glad you mentioned the pet compatibility in regards to toxicity. Unfortunately, every single one of my cats chew on my plants. So my pathos have to stay in my terrarium.
Yes; terrariums for lizards. I honestly will not have plants in my house because I have six reasons named Avery, Sam, Dean, Jocelyn, Aoife and Claire (my cats). Especially lilies. We have our tickets for Charlotte and I hope we get to meet soon! And for you, John, here’s to hoping you get that wiring soon! AC is vital in NC.
Lisa, you don’t have too many plants! There is always space for more! I wonder what John would say if you told him he can’t get more fish, he already has a lot 🧐
John, This was a different video I say Lisa has an obsession with Plants and can only be defined as MPS --> Multiple Plants Syndrome lol. Appreciate the tour and she definitely has a green thumb. :) Remember when your married it's always our fault if something happens even if we never even touched it. lol..
I have a pothos and monstera in my 6g nano office tank. They have been doing much better than I expected. I normally don’t do well with terrestrial plants. I have some mondo grass on order to add to it. The plan is to swap the nano tank out later this year with a 10g shallow riparium.
Buy one pothos, make cuttings, you could cover the earth with one $14 pothos from Lowes. I have dozens and I only ever bought one. Same with philodendron.
“It’s an investment, babe!” (Doesn’t work, but it makes him laugh) “I’ll just order one online for 2x the price!!!” Usually gets me a ride a long on a trip to Lowe’s Edit: we’re moving in 6 months and I’m ALREADY stressing about how to move “the forest”. My monsteras have exploded here… whenever I get clippings (after quarantine, yes) I plop em in the tank to speed up root growth. I’m moving my tank soon to another ( lil sunnier) spot just so I can put MORE plants in… I “stole” some “Creeping Jenny” from my mom and just floated it on top. My fish LOVE it!!
We need more of Lisa and her plants :) John's punishment for not taking her to Lowes is to be plant camera man on a regular schedule.
I would also like that!! I love aquatic animals and plants.
Your plants are beautiful Lisa! I enjoyed this so much 🌿🌱
Good to know I’m not the only one to have full conversations with my cats
No, you are def not alone.
I loved seeing Lisa's plants. Cats, dogs, fish, plants... we'd have a lot to talk about!
Lisa, I love your plants you go girl
I love rooting my spider plants and pothos in my aquarium. They do so well!
Very beautiful collection of plants... Keep it up...
I swear, the venn diagram of people who do fish and people who do plants is near about a circle. I am so jealous of all the windows and natural light you guys get! I hope Lisa's monstera peru takes off, I have about 30-40 clippings of mine in water right now, but they've been slow to root.
Love all your plants and such a good idea for the aquarium!!thanks for the tips
You two are so funny about the lack of Lowe’s info to each other! Lisa was hilarious when u got home John!
I was 100% loving this whole video, even taking notes. Then BAM ! Cats! Consider me 8,000% committed to the video.
I have an air-rooted philodendron that I’m going to cut and plop into my tank tonight.
More videos of Lisa and her plants! This was fun just hanging out with you guys and I’m inspired to get some new plants!
I could talk to Lisa all day about her plants!
Hi Lisa. I totally enjoyed watching you talk about your plants. It reminded me of my mom she loved plants. Have a wonderful rest of the day 🫶🏽
Crazy plant lady here! Legit laughed out loud at the beginning, had to run and show my husband. He has never felt so seen & stands with you in solidarity 🤣😂😅
I have had spider plants in my aquarium before and they do great if you do not allow the base of the plant to go underwater. Love all her houseplants!
She has an impressive collection! I NEED MORE OF LISA'S PLANTS!!!
Y'all are too funny! I will say, I have to side with Lisa..... a girl can never have too many plants!!
Thank you 🤣
I've had to convert my wife to liking plants. When we were dating she tolerated my umbrella plant, snake, pothos and ivy, but she was superstitious that plants attracted spiders. She doesn't mind aqquarium plants as I'm sure she likes the idea of spiders drowning.
So so mean. Time for a plant road trip this weekend in Charlotte. So many great greenhouses.
Also the absolute best plant in water propagation imho is the Dracena Trifasciata “snake plant”. NASA took these plants to space because of how much oxygen they produce. Thank you 😊
Lisa loved the plant tour. I also have pothos in my aquarium.
Fellow plant nerd here. Thoroughly enjoyed the tour of your beautiful collection!
Lisa might need her own personal plant channel!
She has it. Check out ROOTS N WHISKERS
Well sorry John that you didn't find your wire but thats karma for not taking Lisa. But happy you found it online. The more plants the better the air and more beautiful enviroment. I love how serious she was about not being invited to Lowe’s 😂
That monstera made me drop my jaw! You got such beautiful plants 😍
I love the fish videos but I thoroughly enjoyed watching Lisa talk about her plants. How does she keep an eye on her plants, fishes and beloved cats??? 😅😅😅😅
The beginning made me laugh and the longer I watched the more and more I realized I'm Lisa
Fish and plants, 2 of my favorite things! Beautiful collection, Lisa!
You prevented Lisa from going to 4 home centers, that's a lot of bread. Wealth shall be yours.
Lisa, I will send you some plants! John, Lisa needs plants. Let her have them! The money is not wasted when the plants thrive under her care :)
❤️
Wade will get you with that Domino talk, man!!! Love the vid, guys.
Yesyesyesyes plants in tanks!
Love love love Lisa’s plants! 🪴 ❤
I love how you have them all set up
Your plants are stunning Lisa, and your propagating them so much you could start your own plant nursery! I’m seeing some I’d like to add to my own collection I started. I also can’t get enough of your cute cats, I love them so much!

I liked channel before.... Now house plants ❤❤❤
John you’re a very smart man! I’m so much like Lisa and spending more than planned on plants 😂
Lisa ur right, cuttings should be rooted in plain water first. If you put them straight into an aquarium they will uptake ammonia and nitrates which will encourage foliage growth. For best root system development you should let the main root grow to about 3-5 inches long. Thanks for the video of Lisa and her plants. Have you ever thought about doing a vegetable garden? You could do a really awesome irrigation system to distribute the fish poop water. Oh, and you now have given my wife some new ideas for her plants.😟
That's a really cool idea. You could even rig up a sprinkler-like system for a greenhouse.
SUCH a good idea! I’d love to try something like that myself & see how they tackled a project like that!!!
Love the comic plant reference for the variegated peace lily :)
Hilarious video you two have made my day - Lisa’s plants and John supposed to have broken some I couldn’t stop laughing - gorgeous pets you have also x
I am Lisa and I would actually appreciate someone who strategically kept me from buying to many things. :)
Awesome! I need one of your thumbs Lisa! 😂
Daaang that monstera is quite something! So impressive!! I have to say Lisa, I'm so impressed that you can keep on top of all that you do.
Perfect timing! Just bought 3 monstera's. Love the vlogs, keep 'm coming. Greetings from Belgium!
Recently got my first small pothos for my 55 Angel tank and it has sprung its first new growth. I’m super excited. John and Lisa, you have really inspired me to better care for my fish and try new things. Thank you for all your content, and especially this vlog, it’s fantastic!!

Absolutely gorgeous, Lisa! I have a non-variegated spider plant, too; I just want to be different!
Do they self propagate like the regular ones?
Pretty house with lots of light - so nice! The plants look great in there!
"You have enough plants"
Oh, it coudn't be that bad, can it? Followed by lisa showing off her gallery of plants. haha.
Glad Im not the only one always on the lookout for new plants.
Lisa explained well. I loved the tour, sometimes when I see a plant doesn't look good in soil - pothos. I move in a vase with water.
Lisa might have been mad you didn't take her to Lowe's but probably for the best because once you found out they didn't have the wire you were looking for you would have wanted to leave to go to another store. She would have wanted to spend an hour or two looking at plants while the whole time you'd be like...we gotta go!
How could one say "no" to Lisa? I just couldn`t, shes too adorable...
Hahaha most partner have been in your shoes John they would do exactly the same thing lol xx
OMG!!! More string of hearts!! I love them🥰
Aww lisa looks so cute when sulking lol,and that plant is a monster! Very cool
John, if you break her plant, technically that's now considered a new "cutting" of the plant. She should be thanking you. haha. I love the joy and excitement Lisa shows for her plants.

John wins best comment on a plant! Domino 🤣 plant and X-Men nerd here
As a plant parent I am super excited about this! Thankyou!
Aww, you really upset Lisa. 😢 lol. I like how you let her show her plants to forget about it 😅
Lemon fern works well coming out the top of a tank with just the roots in the water.
Thanks for the tip 🥰
Loving the blogs! Reakky enjoyed this one since I've been looking for plants other than pothos or philodendron to grow out of my tanks
Plants are way better than money! #TeamLisa
We want the 3 year long Lisa houseplant tour
Now we're talking !! More plant videos please , 🍀🌿
I'm so glad you mentioned the pet compatibility in regards to toxicity. Unfortunately, every single one of my cats chew on my plants. So my pathos have to stay in my terrarium.
LOL. It's neglect! I stand with Lisa!

Omgawd I love her 😂🥰
I get starting them in a vase but do you use tank water to propagate them. Don't forget to put water in the cutting you just took xx
I have a pothos and monstera in my 6g nano office tank. They have been doing much better than I expected. I normally don’t do well with terrestrial plants. I have some mondo grass on order to add to it. The plan is to swap the nano tank out later this year with a 10g shallow riparium.
I believe u when u say it takes hours to cut the grass

“I’m not going to tell you what it costs, it’s not appropriate.” I’m using that one the next time I get busted coming home from the plant nursery.
Great job Lisa! I’m a plant lover also!!! 👍🪴🪴🌱🌱
Absolutely, you are blame for everything, because you are a good man.
“It’s an investment, babe!” (Doesn’t work, but it makes him laugh)
“I’ll just order one online for 2x the price!!!” Usually gets me a ride a long on a trip to Lowe’s
Edit: we’re moving in 6 months and I’m ALREADY stressing about how to move “the forest”. You can never have too many plants
Fun plant tour!! My husband was just saying to me that I have too many plants. I think he needs to watch this video. 😂🫢🌿🪴🌱
