- Wat Pha Lat is a royal temple under the Maha Nikaya Sangha. Located in Suthep Subdistrict Mueang Chiang Mai District Chiang Mai Province
The name of Wat Pha Lat comes from the word Phalerd because the people of the land followed the elephants along the streams and waterfalls. Then many people slipped and fell. Some say elephants are slippery as well. When the temple was established, it was named after the waterfall.
The name of the temple is evidenced in documents, legends and chronicles. Has a history with Phra That Doi Suthep It is recorded that in the reign of King Kue Na He brought the relics that Phra Maha Sumon Thera brought from Sukhothai to sit on the back of an elephant to be enshrined at Doi Suthep when he stopped at the Pha Lat area. Formerly an abandoned temple, the Ministry of Education announced the cancellation of being a temple with monks on March 2, 1981. It was restored. revived to have the status of a temple and place of meditation
Important Senasana buildings, including the Chedi, are Burmese art in the Kruba Srivijaya period. The viharn was built in the period of Kruba Srivijaya by Burmese craftsmen. The ancient base (Buddhist Temple) (Wharn Phra Chao Kue Na) is on the southeast side of the pagoda. Important relics include Buddha images in Burmese art. The temple also has wells that have been built over many periods and old pavilions.
