I built a 12 by 4 foot by 6 foot rabbit hutch using a DeWalt standard 12v that I bought 2 years ago, 2020. Next year I got the standard 20v DeWalt and like that it is quieter and happy with the power.
I have the 12v drill and did not find any video comparing the DCD800 vs DCD701. You have me sold. 12v is being returned to Lowes and i already placed an order for DC800. A pound heavier, but like the power on that. I am a DIYer and hoping 12v drill would suffice, but starting the basement reno, the 12v drill binds up a lot but still gets the job done. But again, more power in the same body is the way to go for me.
I believe the Dewalt dcd800 is rated at 900 uwo, which is between 800 and 900 inch pounds. I believe another channel explained that larger self feeding bits cause the drill to cut out because the wood builds up in the hole.
That thing looks powerful! I'm just getting into power tools and I'm wondering how well would this drill through concrete for diy stuff around the house? Would I need the 805 for that or just focus on getting something like a 998?
This is just a drill/driver so the 805 would be more suited for light duty concrete drilling. It's certainly more powerful than the outgoing model but if that is a main priority a bigger drill will always be better suited for it. The 998, 996 or 999 will all do better for concrete drilling. But the tradeoff is that you then have a bigger drill so I would suggest you determine how frequent you would be doing it and then go for the drill that will fit those needs. I only have drilled a handful of holes in concrete over the years so I was fine going for the non-hammer drill version.
That's nuts that we have 18/20v power in a 12v size. I'm selling my two milwaukee drills and grabbing one of these with the powerstack batteries. Your overview is much appreciated. 👍

ATG & I agreed to stay away from battery drill including this DCD800. Unless you like drill smacking your face/twisted hand. ATG has impact drivers. I like that more and more drills are coming with anti-kickback technology to make them safer to use. But every tool has it's limits and there are times where the impact is the right tool for the job to make things safer.

ATG & I agreed to stay away from battery drill including this DCD800. Unless you like drill smacking your face/twisted hand.
ATG has impact drivers. My daughter has beaten men in time/speed using driver vs men using dated battery drills.
Impact driver will not do this (10:00) nor twisting your hand & smacking your face & injuring yourself.
I am seen many guys working on a ladder & using a drill falling because the drill smacked him on the face /or twisted his hand badly.
I like that more and more drills are coming with anti-kickback technology to make them safer to use. But every tool has it's limits and there are times where the impact is the right tool for the job to make things safer.
@@TinkerWithTools The impact driver is much better when drilling bolts & removing lug nuts.
Many times the impact driver is better use & speed up the work because time is money.
Because the high power (20VDC or higher or AC) drill gets kickbacks which can hurt you badly.
Picked one up last month. It’s Definitely a torky little drill
I agree!
Or you can buy it with Two 1.7ah Powerstack Batteries a Charger and Bag for $229.00 , like I did ....👍🖖
😃
Dewalt was too far behind for too long. I'll stick with Milwaukee
Hopefully the competition will push Milwaukee further too.
Whats crazy is dewalts compact drill is just a little bit smaller than the milwaukee full size hammer drill! Milwaukees drill is super powerful. Id like to see that vs the compact drill in the video
The DCD800 is more like a 12v drill in size... just not in weight. That being said, it will lose out to the M18 Fuel... but they are in completely different classes really. What I think is important to consider is how much you really need that extra power, or could you get the job done with the 800 and have less size overall.
BEAUTIFUL ✌✌✌
Thanks!
Sloppy ? this was great, awesome job :D
