Tighnari was confirmed to be a standard banner character before his banner came out. They cant advertise a character to be limitted and put her later in the standard banner, its against the chinese law. If Aglea is limitted in 3.0 she will be limitted forever. If she's a standard banner 5 star they'll tell that in the stream 10 days before 3.0 arrives.
There's the difference between small power creep vs heavy power creep. Eredition units just aren't good in single target damage. and aglaea is a enhanced basic rememberance, not a follow up or a break rememberance.
Because every patch has a huge power creep to start off but every new unit is then better by a small amount, so you can just wait one more patch if you can to get a better unit if you're feverish about meta... But pull for who you want to pull for imo
While every char is going to be powercrept, the idea would be that chars that release at the beginning of a new world and meta are going to be powercrept the fastest, eg Jingliu
Agree with most of the things except for the Erudition take. Erudition always has been solid, but most of the content until 2.6 pretty much shoe-horned the path to PF. However, last 2 patches have shown that they are willing to warp MoC and AS lineups to benefit Erudition, which completely changes the discussion. I think the current way they're doing things, having one strong limited Erudition to cover these scenarios will most likely become needed, so for people that skipped Erudition units until now, The Herta feels like a pretty valuable pull, especially with how stacked her eidolons are compared to most characters (her E1 + E2 are a way, waaaaaay bigger spike than Jingliu's eidolons and arguably better than most DPSes around).
I think The Herta will become much better in the future, with the release of a better erudition support. It's like Acheron's case, very strong dps, but with trash supports, that makes you able to release a BIS support once she's not longer the best dps. I believe they will do this same thing with all the emanators so they can just bring more and more dedicated supports in order to delay their powercreep.

Just blindly skipping a dps for the reasons of "powercreep is coming" is a dumb take honestly. What you should do is covering every niche that your account is lacking whether its aoe/single target or covering each element. They can easily introduce aoe enemies to MoC and Apocalyptic Shadow with non fire/wind weak on top to make Firefly and Feixiao struggle. Then they also gonna give us lightning weak enemy but theyre single target which is a weakness for both Acheron and Jing Yuan
One thing I’ll say about aglaea power creep is this. If she is released to be powercrept super fast, then Acheron FF and everyone is super powercrept and the end game would essentially unplayable. Powercreep happens usually when there is a couple of patches worth of units when people have an opportunity to have a few teams worth of options.
Nuh uh, we are getting the AoE meta soon with "enemy rows" mechanic: basically enemies can stand behind other enemies now and AoE is the only one can attack all the enemies behind. Better invest now guys
@kolebowyer3837 The "dream" community said that although AoE can attack all enemies behind, the row mechanic only has up to 2 rows right now and still Work in progress along with how Single Target & Blast will interact with this mechanic. If I were the developer, I would make Hunt can pierce through enemies in single line without having any limit to how many enemies in a line, and Blast just hit one adjacent enemy behind.

I'm going to be honest. Herta/Aglaea are already so strong that I really don't see Castorice/Phainon/etc completely powercreeping them to the point of them not being worth pulling, the same way that Firefly/Feixiao did not make Acheron not worth pulling. I think the comparison to 1.X units like Seele and Jingliu is a little bit flawed on the basis that the way units and their teams (or lack thereof in 1.X) are put together is just so different compared to now (and 3.X). Hoyo have also been getting a lot of feedback on powercreep and I can see more of a focus on tight archtypes in future versus just an ever increasing power gap for each new unit, as this would invalidate basically everything released before 3.0 almost immediately. I also think unfortunately for Jingliu users, that she just wasn't actually nearly as good as people thought she was at the time. She is honestly a bit of an outlier in that she isn't really a unit that is likely to get improvement in future like JY did, or Blade might do (copium). DHIL with investment still holds up extremely well. Herta is definitely a unit that is going to get better over time like Acheron, and she is already a top 5 unit in basically every format right now. I think she is an EXTREMELY high value pull, but waiting for her rerun would also be quite valid imo (and probably what I will do if the double triple rerun in 3.0 leak is correct as I highly want Lingsha E1). Aglaea I'm not so sure. She is very strong but maybe a little bit restrictive. Acheron does a little less damage, but is much more versatile and a lot cheaper in terms of cost to run.
I agree that it's unlikely that they will be powercrept before their rerun, just like any other DPS in the game was only powercrept afterwards. I disagree on one thing though: it's not valid to wait for a rerun of a DPS character in this game. DPS had a lifetime of maybe 6-9 months on average in this game, so waiting for a rerun on a DPS will cost you around 2/3s of the time the DPS is relevant in endgame modes. Just never pull DPS on reruns. Always plan ahead on what team you want to build and what to skip (skipping full teams and never looking back if necessary) and get that DPS on their first banner or not at all.

Maybe if your only aim is 0-cycling with the absolute top DPS sure, but saying a DPS is never worth pulling on rerun is simpy not true. Look at Blade or Jingliu, these DPS were already seeing their lack of value very quickly. Jing Yuan is competitive with top options and he was released in the very first patch. Acheron didn't have her best partner until much closer to her rerun than her initial launch. With the advent of Fugue, Himeko is an incredibly strong DPS, and she is free and released at the launch of the game. Jade is still THE best PF unit, and even with the release of the Herta, her niche isn't going away. THerta might even make her better. Not pulling DPS on rerun is definitely the safest option, no doubt, but it is not universally true that pulling DPS on rerun is a bad idea. At the end of the day it is just very hard to see what units will stand the test of time, and power creep in HSR is vastly overstated.
I doubt they are gonna add Aglaea to standard tbh. I mean she is too fricking strong to get added to standard banner. She is doing more or same dmg as Acheron

New characters are always a bit better, but COMEPLETELY overshadowed by 3.1-3.2, even with Castorice, is kind of a stretch. Castorice will over shadow Aglaea, IMHO, because I'm holding on to the Aglaea is gonna be a standard banner character in 3.3 prediction, BUT The Herta should be on semi-equal terms with just different play styles. I think The Herta and Castorice will be the Acheron/Firefly of 3.x and Phainon will come out in 3.5-6 and be the Feixiao of 2025. Anyway, if Castorice isn't at least 33% stronger than The Herta on release, I'll take an extra eidolon of her. Thanks!
Mostly agree but one thing I'm concerned was how much/far better the erudition gank or castorice team compared to well invested acheron/FF/Feixiao team. Not to mention if it compared with phainon team or FATE collab team. Usually i choose more versatile team/core team rather than team that good in just certain game mode. ✌🏻
@@Synchronizebud Yeah, same, as a low spender I try to be as efficient as possible. The Herta does seem to be good in all 3 modes because of how her stacking works single target dmg is fine. My own expectations are that the Fate collab won't be too OP, especially since we don't expect reruns, and Phainon will be a Feixiao to The Herta's Acheron, better but not so much as he makes her useless by any means. If an E2S1 Therta is good enough for a whole year, I'm happy with it.
The Herta is actually one of my fav chars so she's unskippable for me lol, honestly, can't keep up with meta anyways and since it's single player, I decided to just go for Waifu Impact lol
As a linghtning-less and quantum-less player i will pull aglaea and then castorice, i am happy my coverage element will complete 😁 I hear some gossip robin and lingsha will rerun in the next patch

As one of the unlucky ones without RuanMei, i will have to skip Fugue (and Break) unless that mad scientist has a rerun in 3.0. Shame because i really fell for Fugue 3D model in the story part, i think only Himeko has given me this impression before. Madame Herta is then tempting because, like the duo RuanMei+Fugue, it seems she can be the core of a powerful & versatile team, even paired with simply free 4* like Serval or Puppet Herta (or Himeko !) For Aglaea, i have doubts : i want to see how far from her is Acheron before deciding. If Acheron is still good, then i'll be happy Sunday came in only 40 pulls... (would he be my second Sparkle ? :(
I was thinking about pulling for THE Herta beacuse PF is the only game mode where sometimes I struggled a bit, but after the rework of PF I feel like it is easier then before, so now I am not sure anymore... And, honestly, all the 3.1+ units looks really insane.
The next pf after this comes during the last 2-3 days of The Herta's banner. Wait for that to see if the pf is any harder, cuz I have a feeling that this pf is easy as an opener and it's gonna get worse
I agree with aglea, maybe she's just a introductory character to a memo meta. I think power wise, she will be like blade, jing liu before DHIL release or like everyone on 2.xx patches pre-acheron release. But with 3.0 Herta i hope she will last more, because.. idk.... she's an emanator. Knowing acheron is 'still' very playable until now i hope hoyo will stick to the lore. And also, HSR like to introduce the new archetype meta by corporating it into some event, just like a few patches ago when we can choose all the prebuild character with a hint of their recommendation according stage enemies debuff and team buff. Knowing this, i'm seeing 2 contender for a new future meta; true damage and memosprite. And if HSR 3.xx patches will bring the same trend like previous 2 major patches, imho I can't see aglea will carry on one of those final 3.xx meta...except a few beginning 3.xx patches.
The way I play is: wait until X.2 - X.3 patches of a new game year. See which DPS I MUST have. Get eidolons / weapons for my favorite DPS on release and use F2P supports. If I missed premium supports get them on rerun. I usually wait for a team to be “packaged” as complete and then go all in on one or two premium teams per game year. A mix of horizontal and vertical investment around the most badass DPS characters. You can get 2 premium teams per year as a light spender. That’s usually enough to keep up with meta.
valid argument. the early 3.x dpses while strong won't be as impactful as acheron back then simply because the game scale is much bigger, more relic set and more supports to elevate a unit efficiency bridge the numerical gap that a new unit that deals more damage like the herta.

It’s wild to assume she’ll he standard banner based on tahnari. He was announced as such, and even in today’s meta he stands up strong, just like Himeko. What if they added Nuev to standard banner, does he suddenly stop being the best?
HSR has become a 5min daily game for me, skipping the banner will be easy. Even if Castorice is not much better than The Herta, I'll have more jades for the future banner. It's a win-win situation for sure.
Everything is gonna be powecrept at this point. No matter who you save for or skip, there will always be something that preforms better. Get what you want.
Powercreep: Mihoyo had a weird way to raise the damage ceiling in the past. They did raise the damage for DPS not step by step with every character, they did it in rare "jumps". You can check this by checking the damage calculations on prydwen. They raised the damage ceiling after half a year with DHIL and Jingliu (double Seele damage when taking out the impact of supports) and then after a year with Acheron/Firefly (4 times Seele damage when taking out impact of supports) and all other DPS were on a very similar level. We haven't seen a damage ceiling rise since then really. It is very likely that mihoyo will do just that: raise the damage ceiling to 8x Seele level/ double Acheron level and then keep it at this level for a while and just pull the different archetypes to that level with new characters and i would consider it unlikely that they instantly powercreep characters they want to sell on their rerun. So those characters will be good for at least 6-9 months. But yes, DPS characters don't have a long lifespan in this game and it's good to keep that in mind and only pull the DPS characters you really want to build their team for on their first appearance (never on a rerun).
Yeah, as a whale, I'm skipping all 4 of the upcoming characters. My existing teams are still able to effortless crush everything in endgame content, so there's simply no reason to upgrade them yet. I'll wait until the next round of serious powercreep before I start heavy pulling again.
Personally what I leanred from my past mistakes is to pull for characters that are part of archetypes so they have very high chance of being buffed by future units. Generalist supports and dpses tend to get powercrept easly because hoyo cannot make generalist supports or dpses too good or they will powercreep everything else ( yes Robin was a mistake ).
If Aglaea gets slapped onto the standard banner eventually, I really would not be sad if I would get her when I lose my 50/50. Just like with Tighnari in Genshin, their constellations/eidolons are way better than other standard banner characters. So even if I would get Aglaea in 3.0, I would be very happy if they put her on the standard banner afterwards
now that we have informations about the 3.0 reruns (jade,boothil and lingsha first half and robin second half) what do you think? is it worth skipping fugue for robin ( I only have firfly as a break dps)
if you're running break teams and have really good break dps like boothill/rappa/firefly.. go for fugue but if you want to play safe and is a "future proof" character then go for robin.. and she can work well with many teams unlike fugue
Not me using Arlan to clear moc 12 since forever for the lolz even after I got my Acheron going. In fact, whenever I get gear upgrades for Arlan Acheron gets his old gear...although his old gear is absurd so take it with a grain of Salt.
@@j.w.7608 I'm sitting on a 2pc 2pc set right now sitting on a 80/170 crit ratio because I use him with hyper speed Sunday, Aventurine and Jiaoqiu. All e1 so a bit unrelated but all of them are S0 so I think it balances out. Sunday is on Bronya s1, and Jiao is on Pearls. Still working on 4pc Scholar for Arlan so It's gonna keep getting better. And he's still on s5 eon. Waiting for a destruction lc with crit stats that benefits low hp because I dislike how low the attack is on blade lc, the buff also stops being useful when you hover at 1hp because it dosent trigger. Never beleaved in blades signature, it's like a really expensive crutch for crit rate that gives you nothing after you hit 1 hp because Arlan dosent care about hp at all. Might aswell just farm better crit ratio over pulling that and use Eon.
I am skipping Algae but not Herta. Frankly, if I wanted to invest more money into the game, I'd gladly have all characters but I just don't feel like doing it so hard choices must be made. My advice - if you really like a character, pull them no matter where they stand in the meta. But for Algae, if you feel somewhat whatever about her then skip her, especially if you have Acheron or Jing Yuan for now. While she seems to be stronger than both of them at E0S0 (not stronger than E2S1 Acheron from what I've seen), there are even stronger characters like Castorice on the horizon, so it's worth keeping your jades for someone you like more. No way I am skipping for Herta though - the genius society have been some of my favs since the start and it looks like she's a unit that will only get better with time/be a core to Erudition comps.
Hoyo focuses more on emmanator s since herta is an emmanator she will be powercrept later than other character, but we need to see how good mydei is since he is coming out in 3.1 and is an imaginary destruction character 💀
Aglaea: femme fatale, very himeko-esque, interesting design, interesting character (the puppet is *chef's kiss*); Castorice: generic waifu number #34543, kinda reminds me of Firefly; Yeah, I'm not worried about Castorice powercreeping her. For Bertha, although she's a DPS, she's Ice based and has relevance across all 3 modes potentially. The only other Ice we know is supposedly not a main DPS. With Ice coming back i need an updated Ice DPS
What you underestimate about the Herta, is that her erudition bonus are small, even without additional Erudition Unit, she is still META dps. but unlike other Meta Dps who needs a team around them, The Herta is a meta dps who function alone into any team, her real pull value is that even if powercrept you have a Sub Dps that can fit into any team for F2P/New Players. But you are right DPSER will be powercreept faster then Support or Utility characters. while Acheron team members has to be Nihility. or Acheron has to be E2. The Herta doesn't suffer from that flaw. About Fugue if you ever plan to pull Lingsha or have Linghsa. she is the Lingsha support. with Fugue you make Lingsha 100% Dpser cause of Foxian Prayer. that is one of the combo pieces made for F2P, so you have a hard time, only Lingsha and Fugue already is able to make you cycle the MOC AP PF even if the other two team members are average.
I completely agree with your judgement of aglaea and future meta and i hadnt even consodered her getting put on standard which does make sense. I feel like her positiom is even much worse than herta because shes lightning meanwhile, the best ice we have rn is jingliu and herta is Acheron level.

IIRC, Hoyo will need to say during the livestream if they plan on putting Aglaea on the standard banner because of Chinese Law. Kind of like how they can't directly nerf characters after release.
Aglaea is unlikely to be standard banner character because: - Tighnari was announced to be a standard banner character before the banners release. Like you said, people would be too angry if that wasn't announced beforehand. - the eidolons are too good. Look at the other standard banner eidolons. You can see a standard 5 star from a mile away because of those. - she's too high investment. Standard banner characters are usually low investment characters, because they are there to help new players see a big step up from 4 stars. Aglaea needs the rarest substat speed plus the second rarest substats with crit damage and crit rate to shine. She additionally needs Sunday and lightcones that are expected to be gacha and needs more investment in her traces for her memosprite. So I think she's specifically designed to drain older players that have a lot of resources to burn (resin, her e1 is so good that f2p will try to reach that) and will be tempted to get a battlepass just for the lc. I haven't run the numbers yet, but I expect her to have a higher damage ceiling than other DPS for quite a while on very high investment, but also a high floor, making her f2p unfriendly. I would expect her to live a little longer on high investment than the average DPS, taking a similar spot as Acheron.
I was really looking forward to pulling for Aglaea because her playstyle looks really fun and strong, but what you're saying makes a lot of sense. I'm a low spender, so I have to be conscious of who I try to pull for, and I think you just talked me out of going for her
I say pull for whoever you want because it doesn’t matter Acheron is going to be powercrept very soon and honestly aglaea’s kit doesn’t seem to be bad I don’t think she’ll be power crept that easily
before watching this video lemme try to guess the best strat for meta proofing your account i have 3 ways ~ Pull The Herta if you have a jade then go for robin Pull aglaea if youhave sunday then go for robin. The MOST metaproof way (imo) - skip both get tribbie get castorice
It looks like herta will be getting a great deal of future support (tribb, screw). Shes also MUCH better than aga at almost every investment level. I think herta is pretty safe
If you don't like the dps don't pull them vast majority of new characters are dps just pull support for old dps until a new one you like comes along. Herta and Aglaea are really strong for sure but we have already seen how the old dps handle 3.0 content and they handle it well if not effortlessly if you already got the new supports which you would need anyway if you wanted to pull new dps and have them perform up to snuff. I have actually started using my E0S0 Jingliu again with all the ice weakness now.
Honestly, I agree eith everything you said aside from the Herta. The one thin the Herta has over every unit is that even if dhe gets powercrept, she will still be good for pure fiction. Its a very similar situation to acheron. Even though she is aging she can stll be relegated to a pure fiction DPS. Worst case scenario. Also we are yet to have a major dificulty spike for pure fiction and i feel it will be coming soon. PF may not be as easy to clear in the future. In addithoon to all this, we havent gotten an ice damage dealer in 2.x. We shouldn't forget about elemental coverage. Personally i struggle with adventurine because i don't have a physical or ice DPS.
Everyone hypes Castorice, but her playstyle seems to focus on being a long-chant caster. This might not work well in certain modes, like PF or something else. Because basically, Star rail is a fast-paced turn-based RPG.
if you ever want to use remembrance MC you need fugue if you also want to use firefly. Because firefly needs harmony MC to function properly (2/3rds of her dps comes from harmony MC superbreak) If you get fugue you can use fugue instead to provide superbreak (yes its a weaker superbreak but fugue provides other debuffs so its makes up for it) and that means harmony MC can now turn into Rememberance MC and used in another team. People seem to forget this a lot.
I have 140 pulls i want Fugue and Herta i try Fugue if i win rest of my pull go for Herta if i lose i get guaranteed Herta😅 than if my calculations is correct i can guarantee 1 character form 3.1 and 3.2
Well if leaks are true, And Lingsha reruns with Herta then it is going to be a tough choice, Lingsha is a FIX combo with Fugue. Fugue Foxian Prayer makes Lingsha a Full Dpser (so colorless toughness dpser). that ups the value of Fugue. Robin Rerun I already predicted it, cause Algaea was either Houhou rerun (for her ridiculous energy) or Robin rerun. (cause Mihoyo said Algaea needs Robin or Sunday).
What are these comments saying The Herta doesn't have a team? Her team is clearly built around Jade, Aventurine, and Robin (or any other action advance support if you don't have her). Her entire kit is around getting many hits fast and with the way she will stack with Jade its very obvious that's her team. Pair that with Robin and you have the extra damage instance mixed with a strong action advance. Not to mention any sustain with a lot of actions will also be good hence Aventurine with his follow ups. If you skipped Jade I wouldn't recommend The Herta but with that team it's a no brainer for me. But I've also been waiting for a crazy Jade team that's good outside of Pure Fiction.
U would know that Herta really doesn't have her bis teammates right now if u follow the leaks. Tribbie coming in 3.1 is said to bis for Erudition characters. And saying Jade is the bis for Herta is same as coming 1st place in a race with 0 opposition because Jade is the only supportive Erudition right now in the game and they will add more(Screwllum copium). The Herta will age just fine.
@blahblahblah3716 I said a team not bis team. Her current patch version is still going to be very good. And of course, Jade is needed when there are no other options. That's like running Firefly without HMC or Fugue. You just don't do that if you can avoid it.
As of rn the herta is Just beyond broken. If you're worrying about her being powercrept, your entire account Will. You have to keep pulling for dps, Thats How the game Works.
I pulled for fugue, I also have himeko to pair her with. I have plenty of quests that offer jades, should I pull for firefly or is she not worth for my account.

i think some people look at the game and its meta way too harshly. even though jingliu got powercrept she still was peak at some point, and at some point she 0-cycled and cleared everything, ofc i'd rather prefer that she would still be at least be somewhat useful years later, but in any case you pulled her and got some entertainment value out of her if you like her as a character or you like clearing fast. now her value ran out and you gotta pull for someone else, this is just how hsr in particular works. it'd be another story if they released a character and they're dogshit from start to finish that would be a total waste, but a character having worked hard to clear for you and then going on vacation once the meta shifts out of favour for them is not a waste. i've even seen people who haven't pulled since 2.2 bc they're waiting for 100% powercreep resistant character and i can't imagine how that would be fun. i'm saying all this as someone who has many characters and 0 limited eidolons btw (sunday is a big exception). yes you gotta be smart with your pulls, save just in case you lose 50/50, know what teams your characters are best at, but it doesn't mean sitting on your jades bc you're too afraid of powercreep. jades by themselves don't give you fun, pulling characters and playing them does, no matter if you enjoy them for their appearance and personality or gameplay
I just feel like saving for an E2 remembrance down the line will be a good play. Aglaea seems nice but she’s not going to be the Acheron of remembrance.

There's the difference between small power creep vs heavy power creep.
Eredition units just aren't good in single target damage. and aglaea is a enhanced basic rememberance, not a follow up or a break rememberance.
Because every patch has a huge power creep to start off but every new unit is then better by a small amount, so you can just wait one more patch if you can to get a better unit if you're feverish about meta...

Agree with most of the things except for the Erudition take.
Erudition always has been solid, but most of the content until 2.6 pretty much shoe-horned the path to PF. However, last 2 patches have shown that they are willing to warp MoC and AS lineups to benefit Erudition, which completely changes the discussion. I think the current way they're doing things, having one strong limited Erudition to cover these scenarios will most likely become needed, so for people that skipped Erudition units until now, The Herta feels like a pretty valuable pull, especially with how stacked her eidolons are compared to most characters (her E1 + E2 are a way, waaaaaay bigger spike than Jingliu's eidolons and arguably better than most DPSes around).
I think The Herta will become much better in the future, with the release of a better erudition support. It's like Acheron's case, very strong dps, but with trash supports, that makes you able to release a BIS support once she's not longer the best dps.
I believe they will do this same thing with all the emanators so they can just bring more and more dedicated supports in order to delay their powercreep.
Imho Erudition is just the worst of 3 dps paths

Just blindly skipping a dps for the reasons of "powercreep is coming" is a dumb take honestly. What you should do is covering every niche that your account is lacking whether its aoe/single target or covering each element. They can easily introduce aoe enemies to MoC and Apocalyptic Shadow with non fire/wind weak on top to make Firefly and Feixiao struggle. Then they also gonna give us lightning weak enemy but theyre single target which is a weakness for both Acheron and Jing Yuan

One thing I’ll say about aglaea power creep is this. If she is released to be powercrept super fast, then Acheron FF and everyone is super powercrept and the end game would essentially unplayable. Powercreep happens usually when there is a couple of patches worth of units when people have an opportunity to have a few teams worth of options.

If I were the developer, I would make Hunt can pierce through enemies in single line without having any limit to how many enemies in a line, and Blast just hit one adjacent enemy behind.

I'm going to be honest. Herta/Aglaea are already so strong that I really don't see Castorice/Phainon/etc completely powercreeping them to the point of them not being worth pulling, the same way that Firefly/Feixiao did not make Acheron not worth pulling.
I think the comparison to 1.X units like Seele and Jingliu is a little bit flawed on the basis that the way units and their teams (or lack thereof in 1.X) are put together is just so different compared to now (and 3.X). Hoyo have also been getting a lot of feedback on powercreep and I can see more of a focus on tight archtypes in future versus just an ever increasing power gap for each new unit, as this would invalidate basically everything released before 3.0 almost immediately. I also think unfortunately for Jingliu users, that she just wasn't actually nearly as good as people thought she was at the time. She is honestly a bit of an outlier in that she isn't really a unit that is likely to get improvement in future like JY did, or Blade might do (copium). DHIL with investment still holds up extremely well.
Herta is definitely a unit that is going to get better over time like Acheron, and she is already a top 5 unit in basically every format right now. I think she is an EXTREMELY high value pull, but waiting for her rerun would also be quite valid imo (and probably what I will do if the double triple rerun in 3.0 leak is correct as I highly want Lingsha E1).
Aglaea I'm not so sure. She is very strong but maybe a little bit restrictive. Acheron does a little less damage, but is much more versatile and a lot cheaper in terms of cost to run.
I agree that it's unlikely that they will be powercrept before their rerun, just like any other DPS in the game was only powercrept afterwards.
I disagree on one thing though: it's not valid to wait for a rerun of a DPS character in this game. DPS had a lifetime of maybe 6-9 months on average in this game, so waiting for a rerun on a DPS will cost you around 2/3s of the time the DPS is relevant in endgame modes. Just never pull DPS on reruns.
Always plan ahead on what team you want to build and what to skip (skipping full teams and never looking back if necessary) and get that DPS on their first banner or not at all.

Sorry but I just simply don't agree. Maybe if your only aim is 0-cycling with the absolute top DPS sure, but saying a DPS is never worth pulling on rerun is simpy not true.
Look at Blade or Jingliu, these DPS were already seeing their lack of value very quickly.
Jing Yuan is competitive with top options and he was released in the very first patch. Acheron didn't have her best partner until much closer to her rerun than her initial launch.
With the advent of Fugue, Himeko is an incredibly strong DPS, and she is free and released at the launch of the game.
Jade is still THE best PF unit, and even with the release of the Herta, her niche isn't going away. THerta might even make her better.
Not pulling DPS on rerun is definitely the safest option, no doubt, but it is not universally true that pulling DPS on rerun is a bad idea. At the end of the day it is just very hard to see what units will stand the test of time, and power creep in HSR is vastly overstated.

New characters are always a bit better, but COMEPLETELY overshadowed by 3.1-3.2, even with Castorice, is kind of a stretch. Castorice will over shadow Aglaea, IMHO, because I'm holding on to the Aglaea is gonna be a standard banner character in 3.3 prediction, BUT The Herta should be on semi-equal terms with just different play styles. I think The Herta and Castorice will be the Acheron/Firefly of 3.x and Phainon will come out in 3.5-6 and be the Feixiao of 2025.
Anyway, if Castorice isn't at least 33% stronger than The Herta on release, I'll take an extra eidolon of her. Thanks!
Mostly agree but one thing I'm concerned was how much/far better the erudition gank or castorice team compared to well invested acheron/FF/Feixiao team. Not to mention if it compared with phainon team or FATE collab team.

@@Synchronizebud Yeah, same, as a low spender I try to be as efficient as possible. The Herta does seem to be good in all 3 modes because of how her stacking works single target dmg is fine.
My own expectations are that the Fate collab won't be too OP, especially since we don't expect reruns, and Phainon will be a Feixiao to The Herta's Acheron, better but not so much as he makes her useless by any means. If an E2S1 Therta is good enough for a whole year, I'm happy with it.

As one of the unlucky ones without RuanMei, i will have to skip Fugue (and Break) unless that mad scientist has a rerun in 3.0. Shame because i really fell for Fugue 3D model in the story part, i think only Himeko has given me this impression before.
Madame Herta is then tempting because, like the duo RuanMei+Fugue, it seems she can be the core of a powerful & versatile team, even paired with simply free 4* like Serval or Puppet Herta (or Himeko !)

I was thinking about pulling for THE Herta beacuse PF is the only game mode where sometimes I struggled a bit, but after the rework of PF I feel like it is easier then before, so now I am not sure anymore... And, honestly, all the 3.1+ units looks really insane.

I agree with aglea, maybe she's just a introductory character to a memo meta. I think power wise, she will be like blade, jing liu before DHIL release or like everyone on 2.xx patches pre-acheron release. But with 3.0 Herta i hope she will last more, because.. idk.... she's an emanator. Knowing acheron is 'still' very playable until now i hope hoyo will stick to the lore.
And also, HSR like to introduce the new archetype meta by corporating it into some event, just like a few patches ago when we can choose all the prebuild character with a hint of their recommendation according stage enemies debuff and team buff. Knowing this, i'm seeing 2 contender for a new future meta; true damage and memosprite. And if HSR 3.xx patches will bring the same trend like previous 2 major patches, imho I can't see aglea will carry on one of those final 3.xx meta...except a few beginning 3.xx patches.

The way I play is: wait until X.2 - X.3 patches of a new game year. See which DPS I MUST have. Get eidolons / weapons for my favorite DPS on release and use F2P supports. If I missed premium supports get them on rerun. I usually wait for a team to be “packaged” as complete and then go all in on one or two premium teams per game year. A mix of horizontal and vertical investment around the most badass DPS characters. You can get 2 premium teams per year as a light spender. That’s usually enough to keep up with meta.

valid argument. the early 3.x dpses while strong won't be as impactful as acheron back then simply because the game scale is much bigger, more relic set and more supports to elevate a unit efficiency bridge the numerical gap that a new unit that deals more damage like the herta.

Everything is gonna be powecrept at this point. No matter who you save for or skip, there will always be something that preforms better. Get what you want.

Powercreep: Mihoyo had a weird way to raise the damage ceiling in the past. They did raise the damage for DPS not step by step with every character, they did it in rare "jumps". You can check this by checking the damage calculations on prydwen. They raised the damage ceiling after half a year with DHIL and Jingliu (double Seele damage when taking out the impact of supports) and then after a year with Acheron/Firefly (4 times Seele damage when taking out impact of supports) and all other DPS were on a very similar level. We haven't seen a damage ceiling rise since then really.
It is very likely that mihoyo will do just that: raise the damage ceiling to 8x Seele level/ double Acheron level and then keep it at this level for a while and just pull the different archetypes to that level with new characters and i would consider it unlikely that they instantly powercreep characters they want to sell on their rerun. So those characters will be good for at least 6-9 months.
But yes, DPS characters don't have a long lifespan in this game and it's good to keep that in mind and only pull the DPS characters you really want to build their team for on their first appearance (never on a rerun).
Yeah, as a whale, I'm skipping all 4 of the upcoming characters.
My existing teams are still able to effortless crush everything in endgame content, so there's simply no reason to upgrade them yet.
I'll wait until the next round of serious powercreep before I start heavy pulling again.

I use her with Lingsha, Sparkle, and Jiaoqiu, and Acheron obliterates everything.
Personally what I leanred from my past mistakes is to pull for characters that are part of archetypes so they have very high chance of being buffed by future units. Generalist supports and dpses tend to get powercrept easly because hoyo cannot make generalist supports or dpses too good or they will powercreep everything else ( yes Robin was a mistake ).

If Aglaea gets slapped onto the standard banner eventually, I really would not be sad if I would get her when I lose my 50/50. Just like with Tighnari in Genshin, their constellations/eidolons are way better than other standard banner characters.
So even if I would get Aglaea in 3.0, I would be very happy if they put her on the standard banner afterwards

if you're running break teams and have really good break dps like boothill/rappa/firefly.. go for fugue but if you want to play safe and is a "future proof" character then go for robin.. and she can work well with many teams unlike fugue
Absolutely. Firefly doesnt need fugue and you can always use harmony TB. And if you have robin then you dont need to use remembrance TB
Not me using Arlan to clear moc 12 since forever for the lolz even after I got my Acheron going. In fact, whenever I get gear upgrades for Arlan Acheron gets his old gear...although his old gear is absurd so take it with a grain of Salt.

@@j.w.7608 I'm sitting on a 2pc 2pc set right now sitting on a 80/170 crit ratio because I use him with hyper speed Sunday, Aventurine and Jiaoqiu. All e1 so a bit unrelated but all of them are S0 so I think it balances out. Sunday is on Bronya s1, and Jiao is on Pearls.
Still working on 4pc Scholar for Arlan so It's gonna keep getting better. And he's still on s5 eon.
Waiting for a destruction lc with crit stats that benefits low hp because I dislike how low the attack is on blade lc, the buff also stops being useful when you hover at 1hp because it dosent trigger.
Never beleaved in blades signature, it's like a really expensive crutch for crit rate that gives you nothing after you hit 1 hp because Arlan dosent care about hp at all. Might aswell just farm better crit ratio over pulling that and use Eon.
I am skipping Algae but not Herta. Frankly, if I wanted to invest more money into the game, I'd gladly have all characters but I just don't feel like doing it so hard choices must be made.
My advice - if you really like a character, pull them no matter where they stand in the meta. But for Algae, if you feel somewhat whatever about her then skip her, especially if you have Acheron or Jing Yuan for now. While she seems to be stronger than both of them at E0S0 (not stronger than E2S1 Acheron from what I've seen), there are even stronger characters like Castorice on the horizon, so it's worth keeping your jades for someone you like more.
No way I am skipping for Herta though - the genius society have been some of my favs since the start and it looks like she's a unit that will only get better with time/be a core to Erudition comps.

If you're a new player you should have pulls out the wazoo. Go for whoever you want...for now. You'll need more prudence down the road.

For Bertha, although she's a DPS, she's Ice based and has relevance across all 3 modes potentially.
The only other Ice we know is supposedly not a main DPS. With Ice coming back i need an updated Ice DPS

What you underestimate about the Herta, is that her erudition bonus are small, even without additional Erudition Unit, she is still META dps. but unlike other Meta Dps who needs a team around them, The Herta is a meta dps who function alone into any team, her real pull value is that even if powercrept you have a Sub Dps that can fit into any team for F2P/New Players.
But you are right DPSER will be powercreept faster then Support or Utility characters. while Acheron team members has to be Nihility. or Acheron has to be E2. The Herta doesn't suffer from that flaw.
About Fugue if you ever plan to pull Lingsha or have Linghsa. she is the Lingsha support. with Fugue you make Lingsha 100% Dpser cause of Foxian Prayer. that is one of the combo pieces made for F2P, so you have a hard time, only Lingsha and Fugue already is able to make you cycle the MOC AP PF even if the other two team members are average.
I completely agree with your judgement of aglaea and future meta and i hadnt even consodered her getting put on standard which does make sense. I feel like her positiom is even much worse than herta because shes lightning meanwhile, the best ice we have rn is jingliu and herta is Acheron level.

The best one probably Xueyi. But super break does well if you have high toughness dealing attacks like Xueyi or Misha and Hunt March 7th too
IIRC, Hoyo will need to say during the livestream if they plan on putting Aglaea on the standard banner because of Chinese Law. Kind of like how they can't directly nerf characters after release.
Aglaea is unlikely to be standard banner character because:
- Tighnari was announced to be a standard banner character before the banners release. Like you said, people would be too angry if that wasn't announced beforehand.
- the eidolons are too good. Look at the other standard banner eidolons. You can see a standard 5 star from a mile away because of those.
- she's too high investment. Standard banner characters are usually low investment characters, because they are there to help new players see a big step up from 4 stars. Aglaea needs the rarest substat speed plus the second rarest substats with crit damage and crit rate to shine. She additionally needs Sunday and lightcones that are expected to be gacha and needs more investment in her traces for her memosprite. So I think she's specifically designed to drain older players that have a lot of resources to burn (resin, her e1 is so good that f2p will try to reach that) and will be tempted to get a battlepass just for the lc.
I haven't run the numbers yet, but I expect her to have a higher damage ceiling than other DPS for quite a while on very high investment, but also a high floor, making her f2p unfriendly. I would expect her to live a little longer on high investment than the average DPS, taking a similar spot as Acheron.
I was really looking forward to pulling for Aglaea because her playstyle looks really fun and strong, but what you're saying makes a lot of sense. I'm a low spender, so I have to be conscious of who I try to pull for, and I think you just talked me out of going for her

If you don't like the dps don't pull them vast majority of new characters are dps just pull support for old dps until a new one you like comes along. Herta and Aglaea are really strong for sure but we have already seen how the old dps handle 3.0 content and they handle it well if not effortlessly if you already got the new supports which you would need anyway if you wanted to pull new dps and have them perform up to snuff. I have actually started using my E0S0 Jingliu again with all the ice weakness now.
Honestly, I agree eith everything you said aside from the Herta. The one thin the Herta has over every unit is that even if dhe gets powercrept, she will still be good for pure fiction. Its a very similar situation to acheron. Even though she is aging she can stll be relegated to a pure fiction DPS. Worst case scenario.
Also we are yet to have a major dificulty spike for pure fiction and i feel it will be coming soon. PF may not be as easy to clear in the future.
In addithoon to all this, we havent gotten an ice damage dealer in 2.x. We shouldn't forget about elemental coverage. Personally i struggle with adventurine because i don't have a physical or ice DPS.
Everyone hypes Castorice, but her playstyle seems to focus on being a long-chant caster. This might not work well in certain modes, like PF or something else. Because basically, Star rail is a fast-paced turn-based RPG.

if you ever want to use remembrance MC you need fugue if you also want to use firefly. Because firefly needs harmony MC to function properly (2/3rds of her dps comes from harmony MC superbreak)
If you get fugue you can use fugue instead to provide superbreak (yes its a weaker superbreak but fugue provides other debuffs so its makes up for it) and that means harmony MC can now turn into Rememberance MC and used in another team.
People seem to forget this a lot.

Well if leaks are true, And Lingsha reruns with Herta then it is going to be a tough choice, Lingsha is a FIX combo with Fugue. Fugue Foxian Prayer makes Lingsha a Full Dpser (so colorless toughness dpser). that ups the value of Fugue.

What are these comments saying The Herta doesn't have a team? Her team is clearly built around Jade, Aventurine, and Robin (or any other action advance support if you don't have her).
Her entire kit is around getting many hits fast and with the way she will stack with Jade its very obvious that's her team. Pair that with Robin and you have the extra damage instance mixed with a strong action advance. Not to mention any sustain with a lot of actions will also be good hence Aventurine with his follow ups.
If you skipped Jade I wouldn't recommend The Herta but with that team it's a no brainer for me. But I've also been waiting for a crazy Jade team that's good outside of Pure Fiction.
U would know that Herta really doesn't have her bis teammates right now if u follow the leaks. Tribbie coming in 3.1 is said to bis for Erudition characters. And saying Jade is the bis for Herta is same as coming 1st place in a race with 0 opposition because Jade is the only supportive Erudition right now in the game and they will add more(Screwllum copium). The Herta will age just fine.
@blahblahblah3716 I said a team not bis team. Her current patch version is still going to be very good. And of course, Jade is needed when there are no other options. That's like running Firefly without HMC or Fugue. You just don't do that if you can avoid it.

i think some people look at the game and its meta way too harshly. even though jingliu got powercrept she still was peak at some point, and at some point she 0-cycled and cleared everything, ofc i'd rather prefer that she would still be at least be somewhat useful years later, but in any case you pulled her and got some entertainment value out of her if you like her as a character or you like clearing fast. now her value ran out and you gotta pull for someone else, this is just how hsr in particular works. it'd be another story if they released a character and they're dogshit from start to finish that would be a total waste, but a character having worked hard to clear for you and then going on vacation once the meta shifts out of favour for them is not a waste. i've even seen people who haven't pulled since 2.2 bc they're waiting for 100% powercreep resistant character and i can't imagine how that would be fun. i'm saying all this as someone who has many characters and 0 limited eidolons btw (sunday is a big exception). yes you gotta be smart with your pulls, save just in case you lose 50/50, know what teams your characters are best at, but it doesn't mean sitting on your jades bc you're too afraid of powercreep. jades by themselves don't give you fun, pulling characters and playing them does, no matter if you enjoy them for their appearance and personality or gameplay

I prefer pulling for supports rather than a dps due to powercreep in this game
same with me . been playing for more than a year now and i only have 2 limited dps e2 acheron and e2 jingliu but i can clear all content easily because i have all limited supports/ampli and their LC .
I think erudition is gonna become meta in 3.0-3.1 then Castorice is gonna creep Aglaea in 3.2
