    Farther and Father are very subtle differences, even as native speaker I sometimes become confused between those two pronunciations.

    I am so glad that I am from eastern part of Europe We Slovaks can imitate many strange weird and rustling sounds so our tongues are trained to copy other languages but the bottomline is that we do not have so many common words(with English) as western nations

  • @alanmcgregor7866

    'Bird' rhymes with 'heard', 'turd' and 'word' - all with the 'er' sound.
    However, 'sure' here sounds Canadian? Australians and British may pronounce it as 'shore', as in the sea shore. For a Scot, this sounds strange, and 'sure' is started like 'sugar' and pronounced like 'shoe - 'er'.
    One strange thing about 'American English' is how the 'ah' sound is an 'oh' or 'aw' sound to British ears. When the robot in Lost In Space says "Affirmative', it sounds like 'Offermative' to us.

    Great lesson! It makes those pronounces a lot easier but I still think it's very hard to pronounce faster and correctly. Personally, I think it's like a tongue-twister, haha!

  • @MikhailKalita
    @MikhailKalita 10 лет назад

    Shane, should you explain the pronunciation difference between "sin" and "sing", "win" and "wing", "thin" and "thing"? I'm going to ask you this questions during next DDM Live hangouts or if I face one of them word in next DDM. If you have video about this difference, you can provide me a link.
