If I sell put by certain price, let us say Strike price 1300 for ETH, and get premium, let us say 200 USTD, and at a time of expiry contract, let us say ETH price is 1200 USTD, does it mean, that I will have to by ETH for 1300 (as it was my strike price)? and I will have ETH for 1300? going by your analogy your upnl would be $100 usdt. but this won’t be sustainable if the price goes beyond your strike price. if you bought at 1200 and selling for 1300 your loss would be $100 and if your premium is $200 your profit would be $100. if price goes to 1500 before expiry, then your loss would be 1500-1200 = 300 usdt. you’d be selling those options for $200 more than the underlying price of the asset (supposedly it goes beyond) and your upnl would be -100 usdt. it’s not a bad way to go around it but certainly not sustainable.
Do the options contracts have a multiple of 100 shares like stock options do? Do they have theta decay? Are there any risks of assignment when selling these options?
