As a bombers fan this is a good video. Just gonna touch base on incoming/outcoming players including draft and trade period. I personally don't think they need to go through the draft for much more longer, I think they just need to trade/sign some experienced talent. Kako and Shanahan are current dreams for Essendon, Kako is 99% positive that he will come but Shanahan is always a chance to get drafted to someone else. My delistings that I'm thinking of is Tex Wanganeen, Sam Weideman, Jaiden Hunter and Kaine Baldwin. Jaiden Davey in some games he has been very good and has flashes of becoming a better player then his father. Gresham should stay in the side in my opinion, not because he is my cousin but because there's always a chance that Stringer could leave, so it's always good to have some power players that could turn a game on its head, just imagine Gresham and Kako together turning the game on its head. Gresham may not be the greatest footballer talent ever but brings personel to the team which is so important. Jake Kelly I agree that should leave, setters will stay, Hind will stay just as a depth piece, Jones will go on for 1 more year I reckon, Stringer is most likely to stay but not ruling out the chance he leaves. And one more thing, Draper is a good ass ruckman. Goldy will be at the club next year for 1 more year just to more mentor Bryan, Draper and young Visentini, but id start Draper and have Bryan on the bench in my opinion. Ik this comment is long but I'm just so dedicated to this club and I just want them to do well. Overall, great video mate and cheers for somewhat caring about our fanbase 🙏❤️

We have some father sons in the next few years who are gun small forwards so if Menzie doesn't have a good season next year, goodbye to him. That's along with Jayden Davey too unfortunately.
Could you please give your cousin Gresham a call and tell him to unconditionally chase and apply pressure when he doesn't have the ball? If he could do this ALL the time, he would be one of the best players in the league
Draper will never be a top ruckman. His idea of a tap out is to randomly smash the ball to any part of the ground and especially where our mids are not! His value can be answered by this question : which club would trade for him this year and how much would they pay? Answer = nobody!

Great list analysis and thank you for resisting the temptation to laugh being a Hawthorn fan. I am more lenient and Tsatus as I think he has been played out of position ( few players have) and like to give him another go as an inside mid. I’d be offloading Sheil to help gain points to draft the players you’ve mentioned. Although he has been good, since we’ve moved Durham out the midfield team has struggled. Club has always been afraid to take the step back to go forward and ironically that way of thinking has made us the butt money. Kako, shannahan, tstatus, Hobbs, Robert’s. If even just two of these guys can join the list of the absolute ticks gradually getting more over time it’s a start. Hawthorn have proven that doesn’t actually take too long.

They are a great family and he is set to fire
If you go all out maybe thats possible. High risk to get into the finals and maybe make a prelim. However, that approach would result in no picks and spell in the bottom 4 for a long while
Personally I'd be stunned if Langford is still there, really rate the Lalor pick and if Smillie is there and you've sold all three of Shiel/Tsatas/Hobbs, I agree
@@daztalksfooty the mids I named are different types to the ones we have the only mid I’d be open to trading is Shiel if a good deal comes the other way our biggest needs are a speedy small fwd(Kako) and big body mid but also I don’t believe in drafting for needs I think you draft best available and trade for needs
The points against differential is honestly painful every year it’s the same thing until they get that in the positive they aren’t gonna be going anywhere definitely not up the ladder!
I would keep Guelfi, (rookie) both the Davey twins, setters and Kelly idc about Stringer anymore would only keep if he’s on 300K or less on a 1 year deal because he’s scrounged enough money off of the club, and has been injured for the majority of his time at Tullamarine.
I think Kelly stays Weides goes I want Hobbs and Tsatas to stay and if we can get something good for Shiel I’d be happy to let him go but if not keep him, I’m hoping stringer requests a trade we need Perkins to hit his potential
Agree with most of what you have said but don’t think setterfield is a winger but very impressive ,hopefully someone shows the coach and club this because we need help big time
as a bombers fan too young to have been around when the dons last won a final, as well as being a little tacker in primary school copping plenty of shit during the drugs scandal, i've practically been cursed as a fan of this club. it seems that we grow attatchment to players, past and present, and hang on for dear life... im thinking of parish particularly. i recall in a video a few months ago that you were wrapped with where the hawks were because they had something... that A grade talent and fast play (paraphrasing here) and that you'd rather be a losing team with a winning quality. the bombers dont hold much in the way of a game breaking strategy without a massive performance from stringer, durham and merrett. hoping to see my beloved red and black do better, but honestly have become numb to their footy
If we repeat this season next year(late season choke) Scott will need to go! Players play for there coach,I honestly don't think there on board with this one at the moment
The clubs balance has been off for so long. Everything went into midfielders that do the same thing, No standout forward. Also like to hold onto top 10 draft picks and try to force it to workout instead of trading or delisting like Cox for example and Perkins needs to lift too but i can only see him as being a small forward, beacuse there are much better midfielders in the team. Parish doesn't really have a place in the team anymore and the midfield looks better with him not in it. Ridley also gets the ticks but has been injured a lot this season. 100% move Nic Martin back forward, it will allow Redman to get back to his best as well
Dodoro gone is a good thing IMO. As I've said before he has to win the trade, instead of maybe occasionally paying a little more than you should to get the right player to your club. How many trades have not happened cos he couldn't not look like he "won" the trade. Is that culture, do they have a culture of worrying about the 'look' of things? Is the pressure to not lose at your position in the immediacy, too much? No Idea but I think all that stuff matters. Scott is a good coach, is his gameplan too old and not updated? I don't think so Ithink he has too many individuals who worry about their position, stats, how they look etc. I'm very interested to see how things go for them over the off season and how they look, becauase when they are on top, the look really good. But when the going gets tough, I haven't seen enough of them, "get going".
The best trades are the win-win ones, as that shows what you are doing is assessing your list properly & realising you have more than you need in 1 area, & need something in another area..in effect it proves you are aiming to get a balanced list. The one that comes to mind is the Salmon / Wellman-Barnard trade. Since then, it feels like it has been all about what you say: look like "winning" the trade period. Not actually addressing your list needs. Never felt at any time during Dodoro's time that we have had a balanced list, always looked out of kilter, always relying on x number of project players or extreme injury-prone players to come good.
I would keep Hobbs because I reckon you’ll be better than Tsatas, but I try and trade Elijah because you don’t know 4 year deal might get a 2nd for him based on that I must say though hobbs hasn’t improved at all this year I think he’d needs more VFL time and he’ll come good.
I'd be happy with that team for next year. If they could also somehow replace Parish with a big, Tom Green type midfielder, that would be nice. That has been missing since Jobe Watson retired
Bombers still paying for the afl draft penalities, everyone forgets the only other club to suffer similar draft penalities was carlton and look how long they've taken to get back. Its 10 years of missery a few years left unfortunately. And yes im a bomber suporter. Ps for all of those haters out there dyson heppel is the final player at essendon and i hope no other club has to face the destructive influence of politics and compliance. That saga destroyed so many people and the one thing every other supporter doesnt comprehend it could be your club next, and they dont need evidence, they only require circumstantial evidence.
Can’t help it everyone always asked me why are you still in Essendon supporter, even after the Saga? Essendon is first of all the team I picked when I was basically a baby, it’s the team I wanted to go for and come to find out it’s the team my dad also goes for which I had no idea about until I was 7 because he doesn’t follow the AFL anymore! I picked Essendon as my team when I was 3-4 years old around the time my dad taught me how to kick a footy funny thing is my Nan she got me into football in the first place and she was the only person in my family to go for North Melbourne and she wanted me to go for them she should’ve picked a different day to introduced me to football because they were playing Essendon nice try nan what can I say other then I fell for the dons 😂 they Bombed my ❤️ 😅.
i have a bad feeling richmond will give up way too much for elijah so unless we are able to get him for a late first round selection like pick 16/17 or with 2 of our second round selections then i dont think its worth it, i like him as a player i just don't trust richmond not giving up way more then he would be worth
We have far too many medium midfielders but we do very much still need a big bodied midfielder that dominates clearances at the centre bounce. Haven't had one since Jobe Watson retired at the end of the 2017 season.
I don’t reckon Tastas has the patience to wait to get into a team and he needs some serious time at VFL level to clean up his foot skills as he may get a lot of the ball by hand, but he’s terrible by foot. Hobbs again needs more time. He takes way too long to make decisions. Someone really needs to talk to him about that. I would keep him though. A place where Essendon could get pick could be Guelfi they could trade him instead of de-listing him I don’t reckon Perkins is working so I probably trade him for whatever you can get for him. I know the cats are interested in him ask for their 1st or 2nd. It’s mostly because I don’t see all three of them in the same team Hobbs, Perkins and Tsatas we have to trade one of them, especially if we wanted to get Reid year but then again they could trade one of them to West Coast in that deal if need be.
Baldwin, Hind and Wanganeen delisted today. Looks like Essendon will retain the youthful, speedy and highly skilled Laverde, Wiedeman and Goldstein for 2025! Add Menzie and what a year it will be.
Laverde is contracted - I would play him smaller; I would keep baldwin over wiederman if project his body to hold up. Setterfield and parish keep one or the other (I would trade Parish and bring Tsatas in). Shiel trade Kelly delist. Not sure what is cox best position tbh that is a serious issue. if cant work out give him up pls
I think Draper and Gresham are very stiff to miss out I think there two of our most important impact players. Sammy is just the heart and soul of the club just a tough crash and bash ruck who is also versatile. I think Bryan is still alright but he just get bullied in the ruck contests I think Draper gets his consistency going he could genuinely be all Australian. I would still keep Bryan in the team though just too give Draper a spell. I think Wright should be one of the players we use as trade bait ever since he sent Harry Cunningham to the shadow realm he's been scared to go for the pill and if we can get Shanahan he won't be able to play firsts. And with Gresham while he does go missing to often I would personally still have him in the team I feel there could potentially be a role for him in our team still as a sub because he can bring high impact and energy in little bursts. Good team other then that though.
You can't call Essendon's season a bit stiff, If anything they have been lucky. From memory, three of their first four wins came while having less scoring shots than their opposition. Sure they got the points but relying on opposition to kick badly is not a good long term strategy. If the luck has gone one way or the other this year, it has been in their favour. Their early-mid year ladder position masked some serious flaws. Whether this year in isolation or the last 5, it is the same old story, too much left to too few. There are a lot of guys who are very good runners...... One way. They do not play like a Scott coached team. I can't see him putting up with that for long, I see large player turnover coming in the next couple of years. It is not all doom and gloom, their top end experienced talent is fine, there is a decent group of under 23s it is the group in the middle, maybe 8-10 guys who nees to either elevate, find a consistent role to play or move on.
If you dont mind I'll slightly disagree on one point (not completely), the kicking straight at the start of the season. Don's had games at the end of the season they lost because they didn't kick straight, suns game last q great eg. Ess 1 goal 9 to 2 goals... lost by 1 point. Just one eg, but stats say great inside 50's ratio, terrible convesion rates. Big problem. Gotta kick straight in front of goals to win games at the end of the day. Cheers 👍
@@andykerass3695 I understand where you are coming from. I just think that there is a subtle difference between losing because they kicked badly like the Freo game and winning because their opponent didn't, like the Hawthorn game. Kicking badly yourself is bad play, your opponent kicking badly is often (not always) just good luck. Edit: I am always happy to disagree. Thanks mate.
@@spindoctor6385 yeah i think we agree, that's why I said slightly and not completely 😉 cheers bro. If your teams in finals good luck 👍 Edit: just to add a little, the statement 'deserved to win'... if a team played better but kicked poorly and lost. Did they "deserve the win"...? Like a riddle but the answer might describe how you define deserved to win. Both answers could be right? 😅 just enjoy a chat sometimes. Cheers 👍
@@andykerass3695 Yeah, the "deserved to win" comment is clunky at best. I guess if you score the most on the day you deserve to win. I often push back when people complain about one umpiring decision that goes against them if it happens to be in the last minute or two and "costs" them the game. They can ignore the ten previous decisions that went their way and just look at that one,. I take the view that on average it all evens out. So I should probably be consistent and apply the same logic to accurate goal kicking, swings and roundabouts. I am a Hawks supporter since literally the day I was born, so I am looking forward to finals for the first time in a while. I do realise that also makes me a bit biased against Essendon, I judge them harshly (whether or not it is justified) There is always a touch of schadenfreude when they fail. At the same time it would be great if we met in a consequential game again. I was at the G on grand final day in 83-84-85 and the only thing that has been close to that rivalry for the Hawks has been Geelong. Not sure how we will go in the finals, our best football is good enough against anyone on any given day and we have been as consistent as any other team since round 5. But very good teams put us away in the space of a quarter if we are a bit off with clearances, the backline gets exposed when they don't have time to organise. Appreciate a decent conversation, that is hard to find in YT comments.
After this season I no longer believe just a few ins and outs is enough for the club to go forward. All this club has done for 20 years at the trade period is a few in and outs constantly thinking we aren't too away from a been a good team when in reality we are pretty far it regardless of what the ladder position says. Its now time to start getting very ruthless with this list and make some much needed drastic changes. Put Parish up for trade who really offers nothing but his solid clearance work and also is it now very evident him and Durham cannot play in the same midfield since he came back from injury. Say goodbye to Stringer who while on his day is absolutely blockbuster just doesn't perform enough when it matters most. Also at the age of 30 he really should be one of the leaders at the club. Put Wright up for trade who has essentially reverted back to his Gold Coast form ever since Langford took his spot as the number 1 forward option. Say goodbye to Kelly, Hind, Weideman Goldstein, Shiel and Setterfield. Bring in Saad El Halwi at half back so Martin can be moved back to the wing. Bring in Lewis Hayes to replace Heppel. Go get a big bodied midfielder that we still haven't had since Jobe Watson retired all the way at the end of 2017. Send Cox and Laverde to the VFL team. Cox simply needs to bulk up big time. Once Zach Reid is fit also place him in the the VFL until his form and body look more AFL ready.
@@daztalksfooty Can play well, certainly not our worst but turns it over way too often and some of his chasing is less than fantastic.VC and a contract till 2030.FFS. Explains how EFC just can’t make good decisions often enough
I don't see what Davey Jr has done to deserve a spot in this team. He doesn't even perform that well in the VFL and does absolutely nothing at AFL level.
@@daztalksfooty he was hyped up a lot before being drafted and has clearly impressed Brad Scott who has been harsh with making other players earn their spots. I'm guessing he's one of those guys who looks amazing at training but hasn't found confidence on the field yet.
Problem 1. Essendon keep playing players out of position. Martin should not be playing at half back. He gets 30+ disposals but he’s not damaging. Martin needs to be kept in the forward half. Stringer being played in the centre square as a clearance player. He needs to be kept forward. Essendon have enough depth players ie Hobbs / Tsatas/ Settlefield. Kelly being played on a wing. He’s a small, lock down defender or he shouldn’t play. I don’t know what to do with Cox but he’s not suited for a wing. Problem 2. Lack of development / not rewarding good VFL form. Bryan / Roberts / Hayes / Tsatas / Hobbs should have been played a lot more than they have. Perkins / Menzie / Goldstein / Cox / Davey played too much in the seniors and were rewarded for bad form.
I’m upset. My team The Bumblers (Essendon) is weaker than the girls side. I really mean it. I’m not paying for membership until you starting winning finals. Caro is right there is bad culture at the club stuck in the past a lot. All the coaches there have FAiLED!

What's next for Essendon? Another few years journeying through the wilderness with Brad the Dud, before Essendon get a real coach and players who are really into football. Jake Stringer needs to go, he's just a Houso who plays football. If Jake wasn't playing football he'd be sitting on the lounge overeating, overdrinking soft drink and pumping out the kids. I don't think his new found religion will help any either, he's just lazy and indulgent. Jake is shrewd enough, like a fair few in the AFL, to get fit or play well for a contract then do stuff all. Essendon has too many players that don't put footy first during the footy season, which is a short working year. I blame the current culture in Australia, which is that people are putting too high a value on themselves, not monetary, but just being too precious, too soft, too emotional to work hard and be really tough. Our culture has softened too much over the past decade, not all bad, but not good for a combative sport like AFL. Essendon is not the only team with these problems, but Brad the Dud is a huge problem. Brad is a soulless Chris, so zombie Brad lol.
Port and the Bombers are at the top of my AFL dislike list, so I do indeed enjoy the Bombers extending their no finals win to at least 21 years, especially after their supporters thought they were a good thing for the top four. Brad Scott doesn't like rebuilds, so no doubt the Bombers will be looking for trades and free agents to improve the Bombers. That virtually guarantees mediocrity for the foreseeable future.
@@stevelozevski8151 Oh Stevie, how are you doing you clueless champ? You've been hiding from the YT boards. Embarrassed by the failing Bombers perhaps? All that investment for mediocrity. Long may it continue. Keep on going back to the trade table, that'll get you nowhere.

My ideal first pick before a Kako bid is Langford, Smilie or Lalor in that rose of priority
Dodoro going COMPLETELY is so big for this club. He has been a weight around the Essendon neck for far too long.
@@aaronsalmon1376 I disagree however I think he’s been living rent free in your head.
@@kyalking1313
That's ok. There's shit loads of people that agree and have had enough of his influence at the club.
Agreed big time plus sheeds it's blue sky now
The points against differential is honestly painful every year it’s the same thing until they get that in the positive they aren’t gonna be going anywhere definitely not up the ladder!
I would keep Guelfi, (rookie) both the Davey twins, setters and Kelly idc about Stringer anymore would only keep if he’s on 300K or less on a 1 year deal because he’s scrounged enough money off of the club, and has been injured for the majority of his time at Tullamarine.
Not a fan of the Davey twins - delist as there is no long term future...
I think Kelly stays Weides goes I want Hobbs and Tsatas to stay and if we can get something good for Shiel I’d be happy to let him go but if not keep him, I’m hoping stringer requests a trade we need Perkins to hit his potential
Agree with most of what you have said but don’t think setterfield is a winger but very impressive ,hopefully someone shows the coach and club this because we need help big time
Thanks mate!
as a bombers fan too young to have been around when the dons last won a final, as well as being a little tacker in primary school copping plenty of shit during the drugs scandal, i've practically been cursed as a fan of this club. it seems that we grow attatchment to players, past and present, and hang on for dear life... im thinking of parish particularly. i recall in a video a few months ago that you were wrapped with where the hawks were because they had something... that A grade talent and fast play (paraphrasing here) and that you'd rather be a losing team with a winning quality. the bombers dont hold much in the way of a game breaking strategy without a massive performance from stringer, durham and merrett. hoping to see my beloved red and black do better, but honestly have become numb to their footy
If we repeat this season next year(late season choke) Scott will need to go!
Players play for there coach,I honestly don't think there on board with this one at the moment
Will definitely be a conversation
The clubs balance has been off for so long. Everything went into midfielders that do the same thing, No standout forward. Also like to hold onto top 10 draft picks and try to force it to workout instead of trading or delisting like Cox for example and Perkins needs to lift too but i can only see him as being a small forward, beacuse there are much better midfielders in the team. Parish doesn't really have a place in the team anymore and the midfield looks better with him not in it. Ridley also gets the ticks but has been injured a lot this season. 100% move Nic Martin back forward, it will allow Redman to get back to his best as well
Love it all mate
Love it all mate
The best trades are the win-win ones, as that shows what you are doing is assessing your list properly & realising you have more than you need in 1 area, & need something in another area..in effect it proves you are aiming to get a balanced list. The one that comes to mind is the Salmon / Wellman-Barnard trade. Since then, it feels like it has been all about what you say: look like "winning" the trade period. Not actually addressing your list needs. Never felt at any time during Dodoro's time that we have had a balanced list, always looked out of kilter, always relying on x number of project players or extreme injury-prone players to come good.
Jye Caldwell for vice captain he truly seems like he cares and puts in the effort
Davey is not AFL standard. I'd love to be proven wrong though
Which one mate?
@@daztalksfooty both actually
I would keep Hobbs because I reckon you’ll be better than Tsatas, but I try and trade Elijah because you don’t know 4 year deal might get a 2nd for him based on that I must say though hobbs hasn’t improved at all this year I think he’d needs more VFL time and he’ll come good.
I'd be happy with that team for next year. If they could also somehow replace Parish with a big, Tom Green type midfielder, that would be nice. That has been missing since Jobe Watson retired
Get Josh Smillie in and trade Darcy?
We need Cripps, Bontempelli and Tom Green
Bombers still paying for the afl draft penalities, everyone forgets the only other club to suffer similar draft penalities was carlton and look how long they've taken to get back. Its 10 years of missery a few years left unfortunately. And yes im a bomber suporter. Ps for all of those haters out there dyson heppel is the final player at essendon and i hope no other club has to face the destructive influence of politics and compliance. That saga destroyed so many people and the one thing every other supporter doesnt comprehend it could be your club next, and they dont need evidence, they only require circumstantial evidence.
Great call on the saga, elite comparison on the Blues too
that has nothing to do with pathetic performance , coach , culture.
One comment...Scott must go!
Don’t forget about McKay & Stringer. We could lose them and you wouldn’t notice
McKay should get better with another pre-season and Stringer should be on the sport-first performance based contract
Nice one. I agree they need some trades. Please no midfielders Matt Rosa
PLEASE MATTY
We have far too many medium midfielders but we do very much still need a big bodied midfielder that dominates clearances at the centre bounce. Haven't had one since Jobe Watson retired at the end of the 2017 season.
Got no hope for the future, we are eternally mediocre.
We don't like that my friend
@@daztalksfooty me neither mate, also great video, I've subbed
Omg your ganna have doing Melbourne the club is on fire 😂
Baldwin, Hind and Wanganeen delisted today.
Looks like Essendon will retain the youthful, speedy and highly skilled Laverde, Wiedeman and Goldstein for 2025! Add Menzie and what a year it will be.
Laverde is contracted - I would play him smaller; I would keep baldwin over wiederman if project his body to hold up. Setterfield and parish keep one or the other (I would trade Parish and bring Tsatas in). Shiel trade Kelly delist. Not sure what is cox best position tbh that is a serious issue. if cant work out give him up pls
Trade shiel for 3rd round - build points for kako
Draper needs to grow up🙄
Draper will NEVER be in the AA team and you can take that to the bank!
Is it to late for us to move down to Tassie?
Never too late my friend
Bombers aren’t renewing Jaiden Hunter’s contract nor should they. It’s a brutal call but we can’t keep carrying passengers
Yeah I saw. Stiff for him, unlucky bugger
If your teams in finals good luck 👍
Edit: just to add a little, the statement 'deserved to win'... if a team played better but kicked poorly and lost.
All season we heard every boomers fan say we playing finals this year 😂

Typical Bomber drafting Blunder - we had the number one pick and could have drafted Taranto, McCluggage, Bolton and a host of others. Big mistake
I don't see what Davey Jr has done to deserve a spot in this team. He doesn't even perform that well in the VFL and does absolutely nothing at AFL level.
I have some faith
@@daztalksfooty he was hyped up a lot before being drafted and has clearly impressed Brad Scott who has been harsh with making other players earn their spots. I'm guessing he's one of those guys who looks amazing at training but hasn't found confidence on the field yet.
If we go through yet another coach and get rid of Scott, I’m done.
Most obvious one to me is Jones. Should be a target up forward. He's our best overhead mark. What was he doing on the wing?
next year Tsatas and EL-hawli will be best 22
Doubts on Tsatas even being in the building
I’m upset. My team The Bumblers (Essendon) is weaker than the girls side. I really mean it. I’m not paying for membership until you starting winning finals. Caro is right there is bad culture at the club stuck in the past a lot. All the coaches there have FAiLED!

It's not that big a deal if he stays, as we all know, KPP's get extra time
What's next for Essendon?
Only the morons supporters thought that
At least north have improved this year. Second last to second last
