I just finish the 5 books Spencerian Penmanship, and now it is my normal way of writing, amazing thru practice and muscle memory what can be achieved, Thank you for sharing. I will check yours! Stay safe! Just for you to know, when I started on this subject it was watching your videos, this was almost two years ago, I even bought a Pilot same as yours, now I have a whole collection, Platinum Century, Nakayas, YStudio, Laban, and a few more... you really inspire me on going further with my commitment...., thank you for that!!!

Fantastic. What a thrill to see you have a book. I love your style of writing, it suits my own hand from the past. Keep up the great work promoting another lost art.
I bought the five mott media spencerian copybooks, right now I am starting the second half of the third book, and the my current handwriting is uncomparable to what it was a few weeks ago, I find really nice to look at it after its done.
Not gunna lie! I think is soooo cool you collect those penmenship books. I agree its really neat looking at other peoples handwriting from a long time ago.
I used to have a collection of penmanship books. My favorite was one that featured a vertical style, I don’t remember what it was called. If I remember correctly the lower case letter p was open a the bottom similar to a letter h . My collection got damaged while in storage. A great loss to me because most from the late 1800s.
👍 👍 Thank you very much for sharing the information. Your beautiful handwriting has inspired me. I just finished Spencerian Penmanship Book 4 and will start Book 5 tomorrow. I also received the Tamblyn book today from John Neal and will start using it when I am done with Book 5.
Love the writing videos that may come in the future! Could you please let us know if any nibs you use have been modified It would be less stressful for me if I know why my pilot 74 will not preform like yours ect...
Thank you for the book recomandations, in my language we have the letters æ ø å Is there another Spencerian book with examples for the Norwegian alpabeth letters æ ø å 🤷♂️🔎
The ø and å shouldn't be too different from the normal 'o' and 'a'. You just add the extra marks, much like the accent marks for French. The tricky one is æ. I'd try to just connect an 'a' and 'e' together. Just my thoughts.
Thank you so so much for your classes, I have learnt so much from you! There is just one other thing I would love to know is can you recommend a pen that I can get that will be perfect for this? I would ideally love a fine cartridge pen, Many thanks Fiona xxx
What pen did you use, I could see pentel 0.3 but I did not like Pentel EnerGel because it is too thick. I liked the texture of Pilot G105 but they do not come in 0.3 mm
First of all I must say a good video. I have a request for you. Which movement should be dominant in writing (normal size everyday writing)? Do we write by moving fingers or wrist or both?
I am considering getting the spencerian book with the 5 copybooks, i think copybooks will be a great way to improve. I am exclusively doing this with the intent to do calligraphy. Can I use ink and a dip pen on the copybooks or is it not meant for that? Is there a spencerian book where you you use a dip pen and ink?
When I started watching your videos two months ago I ordered the Palmer book, which speaks a lot about “the writing machine”.. is the way he teaches holding the pen and using the arm “universal” across these systems? Love your videos!
Oh man if you ask 3 people how they should hold the pen you'll get 5 answers.. just hold the pen however is comfortable for you in a way that you can achieve beautiful letters. Good luck!!
I own the Specerian books, but I haven't started using them because I'm not sure what kind of pen to use. Should I practice with an extra fine pen, or should I jump straight into learning with an oblique nib? If I start with a regular pen, will I be able to switch to an oblique nib easily? Or would it be best to practice with my intended writing instrument? Thanks for any advice!
If you are unfamiliar with an oblique penholder, I would recommend starting with a fine pen or pencil. As long as you start your foundation with good letterforms, you should be able to transition to an oblique penholder and nib with less trouble. Doing it the other way round might be too frustrating for a beginner!

Hello Shin, I have been learning from you for about
3 years now, beautiful work. Thank you for sharing!
No reasonably priced Tamblyn's available on Amazon....but other's have it. I'm glad you went through these books so thoroughly. TY.
Your beautiful writing for inspired me thankyou so much
I really love your style and want to stick to it., so I ordered Spencerian Penmanship Practice Book. I should have bought it earlier.

Flourishing class would be great!!!
Thanks
I am iranian and excuse me my english language is not very good
But l must tell you, l very learning of you and thank you

My only modified nibs were a Namiki Falcon from older videos (I've sold it since) and a Pilot Custom 912 (recently used). I'm sure your 74 is fine!
I really love your videos and handwriting

"my jank a** handwriting" LOLLL
I love learning handwriting! Such a unique experience.
Dear Sching Loong!! Your videos are pleasant! 😊 thank you 😊
Sorry about the extra g 😅
Spencerian and Sull say combined movement, Tamblyn and Palmer forearm movement, what to do?
Hello, between Tamblyn and Sull books which one do you think is better for a complete beginner?
Too good to learn
What pen did you use, I could see pentel 0.3 but I did not like Pentel EnerGel because it is too thick. I liked the texture of Pilot G105 but they do not come in 0.3 mm
For anyone wondering it's the pentel slicci pen in 0.3mm size, looks like the sky blue color. You can see it at 2:48
Hi Schin, just wanted to see how you are. It’s been a couple years since you uploaded and I just wanted to check on you. I hope all is well ❤
First of all I must say a good video. I have a request for you. Which movement should be dominant in writing (normal size everyday writing)?
Do we write by moving fingers or wrist or both?
Fingers or forearm.. the wrist should not be moving too much!
please provide link to your book... thanks for the recommendations.

It's a great book, but the paper quality might not be suitable for dip nib and ink. You can buy the book but do your practice on better quality paper.
@@OpenInkStand thank you for responding!
@@OpenInkStand could you please recommend a good quality paper? Block? I can get on Amazon? Thank you!
thank you!
I am inspired to take spencerian through your videos. I have ordered the book "art of cursive writing" from amazon. P.S. subscribed too :)
I am about to order this book. Have you enjoyed the book?

From where v can buy..?
Look into doing Patreon!
Spencerian done well looks beautiful. Palmer is ok, but the Victorians were the masters of style.
How are you able to write perfectly in the Spencerian book? I use pencil and keep making mistakes and still don't look as accurate.
Practice!
Where can we get Spencerian books 6 and 7?
Aren't there only five workbooks?
@@jemts5586 I've seen 6 and 7
@@richardsaxecoburg3872 Ahhh, my mistake! Hope you find them :)
thank you
WOW
The Palmer Method was the death of hand ✍ writing.
I like the Michael Sull book as it's for adults and assumes you can write to a certain degree. Will you be visiting the nail-salon, soon? ;-)
Unfortunately nail salons are not an essential business lol. Pretty soon I'm gonna have to (shudder) do my own manicures!
I wish you listen my voice
Respectfully, you are not using the unique pen-holding and whole-arm-moving techniques carefully described in Spencerian Penmanship.

voice up please!! thank you.
