How to get over 99 lives in Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy (Infinite Lives Glitch/Bug)

- This glitch has existed in previous Crash games and what you have to do is first get the maximum amount of lives that the game allows you to have which is 99 after that you can go beyond the capped maximum.
You will also need the green gem which can be obtained on The Lost City level by breaking all crates and not losing a life.
Go to Castle Machinery and step on the green gem path, walk through all of the lives until the end and then exit the level, when you reach the home world you should have over 99 lives. Save the game, reload and repeat as many times as you would like.
This glitch exists due to the game capping you at 99 lives, however it can count beyond 99 (I imagine that the maximum number of lives you can get through this method is 255 because that is the maximum number in 2 bit).
When you exit the level the lives you have collected are added on during the loading screen I think.
In previous Crash games when collect another life the game realises that you have over 99 and resets it to the capped maximum (99) however in the remake this is not the case and you can play on as normal however you can not increase your life count unless you use the glitch.

Just to clear it up, the description says the maximum number that can be represented with two bits is 255, this is, however, incorrect. The maximum number would be binary 11 which is decimal 3.
I ended up getting 1013 lives with this method. Then I got bored of grinding and moved on with the game. Who knows what the limit is...
Note: My save file did mention I had 1013 lives, but when I opened up the life counter in-game, it only showed the last two digits. You can still tell it's a 4 digit number because of a big gap between Crash's face and the life counter. If I actually had just 13 lives, the number would be right next to Crash's face.
Another clue is the 3rd digit. If you only have, for example, 2 lives, the counter will say "2", but if you have 1002 (or presumably 1102, 1202 etc) the counter will say "02". The counter starting with zero shows that you're dealing with a 4 digit number.
When I lost 12 of these lives, it said I had 01, then it said 00 and when I lost yet another life it said 999, which is what I had then. But whatever, the real counter may be hidden but they still work. It's not like you'll even be worrying about remaining lives enough at that point to pay attention to the in-game countet, and again, you can see the real counter on your save file, if you're truly curious.
EDIT: I got up to 1106. It still only shows the last two digits. When I go from 1101 to 1099, the in-game counter says 01, then 00, then 99. The gap between Crash's face and the number is the same length as before, not that there was any reason for that to be different. I assume the "only the last two digits appear on-screen with a gap between the number and Crash's face" rule applies to any number between 1000 and 9999. So, for example, if your counter says 00 you could be anywhere from 1000 to 9900. Now I wonder if you can get up to 10,000 lives, but I'd rather not grind for that. Like I mentioned earlier, this is what I noticed in the in-game counter; the save file states the number accurately.

This was shortly after the release of the game on PS4. I'm sure if you play on PS5 or PC the load times will be much faster. The game is really well made and I strongly encourage you give it a chance.

Works but all you have to do is save/load and go back into the level. You don't have to quit the game. That's at least true on my end.

For me getting over 10 lives is almost a big challenge
I mean in reality you don't need to grind that much with crash 1 manly because the game gives you free lives all the time anyways

Yep, i've found that yesterday mysef, now I have 999 livels, it's also possibile to get more but, example, for 1000 lives you see 00 in game. It work also for cb2 (not testedd cb3).

You have to save and reload for the lives to count
Is there a place similer to to this one in crash 2 and or 3
I believe this is the largest collection of lives in the trilogy, I'm unaware of any places in the other games like this. However, you are very unlikely to use all of these lives, it is mostly for fun.

justin ripley still works I'm up to 133 it takes a couple times for the counter to start going past 99 I saved in another slot and then it started working for me.

Wolfy Snow it works, I tried it a couple days ago, you must be doing it incorrectly.
Make sure to pause right as you get the last life or even before. If you wait just 2 seconds it wont count
