Woah, cant believe this was performed 2 decades ago. HUG was TVXQ! debut song which was released in 4 languages (korean, chinese, japanese and english) I miss this good old days. And I'm a legend because I'm still a CASSIOPEIA untill today 😂. Thank u
@@Killdeer25 My first experience of TVXQ was as a duo, so I probably lean slightly in that direction, but there's no denying the power of the five of them together. My very first Kpop song was actually Just Another Girl by Jaejoong, so you can imagine my surprise when I saw the video for Mirotic the first time and figured out all three were in the same group.
personally i’d rather kpop groups do more simple choreography nowadays, so they can actually sing live and even harmonize. nowadays there’s so much loud backtrack and AR that groups are barely singing
Holy cow they were young! I think I’ve only seen one other song with the original group so it’s hard to wrap my head around TVXQ being a cute boy band rather than the powerhouse duo they are now! But I would agree, although Replay would be for me the best debut because it’s a way better song, performance wise, Shinee’s debut they were visibly rookies. Super talented with an amazing song, but nervous and still figuring themselves out. Whereas this performance, you’d think they were at least a year or two in, solid vocals and harmonies, yeah you’d think they’d been on stage together for awhile with that level of group chemistry. And for me they were giving 90’s R&B boy band like Color Me Bad or Boys II Men more than their actual contemporaries Backstreet Boys etc. I don’t know the story of how they split, I imagine it was the usual contract disputes that EXO and others went through but I am really impressed by the reinvention they went through to go from this to the TVXQ we have now.
yeah, I checked it out. it was pay disputes and I think they just let their contracts run out and didnt re sign with them, Replay is a pretty solid debut but youre right they looked nervous in delivery
@@Killdeer25 Oh man, other than when I was actually 13 and New Kids on the Block was the group, I spent my entire life hating boy bands until I found kpop. I was around 20 when Backstreet Boys were big and my then boyfriend's preteen sister loved them so they were not remotely it for me. But 90s had some legit R&B groups when I was a teen and although I was not a huge fan, it's what was played at dances and when we were on dates and all the awkward teen romance memories . . .Classic make out tunes.😆
@@Killdeer25 Yeah I mean Taemin was 14 and Key and Minho 16 and Jonghyun and Onew 18 yrs, maybe 20. For their first performance they did great but what high schooler wouldn't be shakey? I wonder how old TVXQ all were though because they didn't look new.
@@kristenblack6026 they debuted in 2003 and will have their 20th anniversary later this year. They were ages 16 through 18, and Changmin is the youngest.
you know what, when newjeans debut, i feel the similar vibe of them 😂 idk if i was the only thinking like this but newjeans kinda loom like they tried a y2k but in modernism for me. i mean look at the choreography when changmin was got onto the right side alone and everyone pointed out on him, newjeans have that kind of choreo as well i aint really remember what song it is (definitely not hype boy)
You're absolutely right! I think that New Jean's, is going for a 2nd or 3rd gen feel for sure. I think it totally works as well, I think it brings a little bit of that unique sound that came from kpop that really separated it from other genres as well. You're absolutely spot on there
This was indeed a solid debut at the time, but is a bit dated and boy band-esque as you pointed out. The raw talent was definitely there, but it was before they really found their niche in the genre. These reactions are great, can’t wait for the rest of the week.
thank you! I think that will be the cause of a lot of debuts no matter what, the raw talent there has been so excellently shaped as well over the years

haha Cassiopeia through and through, time flies though am I right?
Thanks for your reaction. They're celebrating 20th year anniversary, such legends, truly gods of kpop.
awww yeah! they are one of my favorites!
TVXQ as 5 were pretty much the perfect boy group. They're pretty darn amazing with just two of them lol.
yeah, I really honestly think they were well both ways, I am quite impressed what they have done as a duo though

hmm my first song was Mirotic I dont honestly know if that was during the duo era or not, I do know the songs after that were
@@Killdeer25 The original Mirotic is a 5 member song, but the duo sings it live as well
So happy to start this week with tvxq! Awesome!
I am happy youre here! this should be a great time for real!
Thank you for react to TVXQ!🥰
Hug have English version and acapella version, don't forget to listen to them as well.
ahh that would be fun!
This performance was from December 2003.
oh was it 03? wow, time flies
@@Killdeer25 yup, December 26, 2003 in a BoA and Britney Spears showcase. It was their first ever performance and debut stage.
crazy...
¡Amamos TVXQ! Gracias por verlos =)
gracias! son buenisimo! espero que queda aqui~!

100% I am with you, I prefer to hear them sing, make them actually work out their singing abilities please! TVXQ is the best at that too!

I honestly prefer Boyz II men than Backstreet boys to be real. I like the vocals there more
