    Thanks for the 1507 tour! I just started using one. Suggest just taking one reading to ground though. The winding continuity was proven in the first test. If there is a ground, it will be on all of them.

    Thanks for the Great video. Curious what would be an unacceptable ohm reading on the 500 volt meg test. Is it a motor specific value? Or is anything under 550 meg ohms not acceptable. Thanks

      It is manufacture specific. But the main rule of thumb is you want them all to be very close. If one is different you probably have a problem

      From my factory training, FANUC motor spec is anything above 100Mohms is good. Anything below and you could start to cause damage servo amplifiers

    Ser, question for voltage test. How to change from Vdc setting to.Vac? Is it automatically change over while testing on AC voltage?

    • @fridayswithbrandon
      @fridayswithbrandon  Год назад

      The insulation testers only output DC voltage. You can test an AC system but it will be with DC Voltage out of the meter.
      If you wanted to put AC voltage to test a system you would need whay they call a high pot tester. Fluke does not make this type of tool.

    What happens if a 3ph compressor fails the insulation test???

    • @fridayswithbrandon
      @fridayswithbrandon  6 месяцев назад

      @@TheEspinoza-hf1xf it could indicate it will stop working very soon or it's already no longer able to run. As far as how to repair it would need to be replaced or sent to motor shop for re-winding.

    I have a question. If I’m trying to megger a 480v 3phase motor, should I use 500v or 1000v for the insulation test?

    • @fridayswithbrandon
      @fridayswithbrandon  10 месяцев назад +3

      I've heard in the industry most will do twice the operating voltage. Thus 1000v

    • @30mAkills
      @30mAkills 3 месяца назад

      If that motor is thermistor protected use 500 V as 1000 V will destroy the thermistor.
