Several years ago I was on my way by ferry from England to Normandie to attend another D Day anniversary, We got into a conversation with a small group of Ranger/ veterans, The one elderly gentleman was from Corpus Christy Texas and he told us how he was part of the assault force at Point Du Hoc, He was wounded early on in the fight and had to lay all day on the beach before he could be evacuated. He said he still had the bullet lodged in his body, We were privileged to shake this mans hand and say thank you, I would have liked to have given the same measure of gratitude to your Great Grandfather. I don't believe that people who watch this can actually grasp the amount of dedication and time/Money that this gentleman put into these museums. This is UNBELIEVABLE. What a true American Patriot! I wish I could one day make my way there and share this with my family. Absolutely amazing! Thank you Dragon Man. And Hot Brass and Bullets for sharing these videos with us!
Thank you for the history lesson I was only a little over a year old when all that took place. I watch your Clips all the time I've learned an awful lot since listening to you about what took place prior to my arrival on this beautiful Earth. God bless you and keep up the great work you're doing for our great country. Today is January 17th 2022.

Fantastic collection, you are a worldchampion!A friend of mine, col.El Hidar of Douth Africa was part of Normandy !The mauser gun of germans was also used by the Boers during the Anglo Boerwar of 1899.Thanks fir showing your super collection.
Very cool display. That M1 Carbine is a late war version though (post 1945)...so it wouldn't have stormed the beaches in that config. Also they have 15rd magazines, not 10rd.
Dustin Stout stripper clips were very rarely used in Carbines. Also, the M1 in the video was seen in WWII. Very late 44 and 45. The M2 select fire variant was also being seen among troops in small numbers.
How did you get his 1911, I didn't think they could take them and if he passed on the island in combat, how did the sidearm make it back? I respect the hell out of him, and I would never disrespect a wwII vet , especially another Marine , but if you aren't making this up then it has to be a good story because that's all very unlike

Time Stamp 14:31 WWII M1 Carbines did not have bayonet lugs that was a later design implemented post war and in Korea but overall very very impressive display
Awesome but the M1 Carbine wasn't that bad, yeah it's nothing compared to an MG42 in a giant bunker but they worked well and the men who carried them really enjoyed them and found them to be very useful especially in closer quarters combat
You can blame that on the Naval commander of the Utah section Tank landing ships he as coming under fire and ordered the tanks launched way too early and far from the shore. Unlike the British Naval Commander who overrode orders and landed the British and Canadian tanks well within striking distance of the beaches.
@Robert Demon Its arguable. I would tend to agree with you only because audits of german field hospitals have no cases of troops being wounded or killed w 45s. But the 45 was almost exclusively a rear guard weapon for non combat troops and officers. If germans got behind the lines of American forces, very rarely did they have enough man power or resources to worry about casualties let alone set up a field hospital before they were pushed back again. The m1 carbine was made because most of the time rear echelon troops ONLY carried a 45, and this was made/issued so they would at least have something an average soldier could be accurate with more than 25 meters. Is it beter than a 45? Not at close distance, and at medium ranges... not by much lol.
Robert Demon not really. The 45 is inaccurate over distance but it’ll stop someone dead in there tracks. The m1 carbines shot 30 cal pistol rounds at low velocity and therefore they had an unpredictable bullet pattern. M1 garand was great tho, 30-06 is a Perfect round
