Royal Caribbean Anthem of The Seas Cruise Ship Helicopter medivac 2023

- Just one day into our 12 night Canary Island cruise on Royal Caribbean Anthem of The Seas the Captain announced the forward outside decks were being closed. On the first sea day we were into the infamous Bay of Biscay heading for the port of Vigo to arrive the next morning. The ship turned and headed towards the coat of France to rendezvous with a rescue helicopter.
Passengers looked on as the helicopter dropped a stretcher onto the deck then had time for a mini air show with a couple of fly pass's while the casualty was being prepared for the airlift.
Like the Thunderbirds music at the end.😆 The helicopter wasn't far from where our cabin was located, felt like it was landing on our heads from our balcony.😁

Sending best wishes for whoever is seriously ill enough to require a medivac.
The couple of these I have seen in person I don't video them, because this isn't an air display or a form of entertainment, there is someone who is seriously ill and may not have had the ability to let people back home know what is happening and this would be a lousy way to find out your granny had been Medivac off the ship.
Thats my personal choice but I respect that everyone else can make their own call on this.
We probably didn't make it clear within the footage, the incident is from June so has been held to allow plenty of time for family to be made aware. Totally agree they certainly shouldn't find out on RUclips or other social media. It is difficult these days as everything is instant news.

I hope the person being rescued had full medical insurance, otherwise the costs could be enormous 🫢🏥🚁💰
A helicopter would be very expensive. We were later told but not confirmed it was a crew member. Hopefully they are all covered by the cruise company.
