Cheapo Tech: Flash Update BIOS on Acer Aspire One KAV10/AOD150 Netbook Laptop

- How to flash and update the bios on Acer Aspire One D150, or KAV10 model. When the laptop is not working, and you can't update bios by going into the CMOS menu or from Windows to do the flashing, follow these instructions. It will allow the netbook to flash automatically when powered up.
It worked on my KAV60. I needed to update the BIOS, because I wanted to use Linux Mint on it and it has compatibility problems with older BIOS versions.
I've used your method, and worked, however I had to download the files for the KAV60 using Wayback Machine from the Internet Archive, and in the process, in my case, it didn't turned green the button after the first orange flash. It stayed off, but luckily I hold the buttons long enough and the process finished correctly, booting to the Operating System.

Yes, this worked for me on my while D150. I'd like to thank Henry Q for a good video: slow, methodical and repeats all the important steps in a very clear voice.
Normally if the BIOS works, I would not update it, as it is very risky, but Version 1.03 of this BIOS has a small fault where it sends "Closed Lid" events to the OS. These can be ignored, but Linux's systemd by default will obey these events and suspend to ram every 30 secs. Upgrading to BIOS 1.13 cured this problem.

Thanks!! this method worked! I am using Debian 9 XFCE and I couldn't get anything to flash the rom, but this method works!! This update gets rid of that annoying suspend mode constantly going on!!

Thank you this helped me on my kav60 / aod250. Just in case You have Linux keep going in to hibernation as soon as you startup you netbook this will fix that.

Thank you so much for the instructions. I tried many times and It didn't work with the plug in, for my acer kav60 then it worked with the battery only. After that windows was starting and I while I was putting the password I got blue screen then I lost everything again and it's not working this time again.

I have an Aspire One D270-1689 when I download the corresponding BIOS just 2 folders one says DOS and within ZE7_110.exe Prgrm He has a folder and the other says ZE7_110w.exe windows and inside and then on the USB memory does nothing appears I need help !!
Doesnt work for me! Wen i press the power botón for first time, it blinks in red and then turn into Green and keep on this color. then at 1 minute it shutdown it self and nothing happends

So, I have installed a new 2 gb ram chip and got the black screen on start up.
All advice I've seen is to reflash the bios.
I downloaded the bios files from Acer using the SNID number.
The files include:
DOS folder with: Flashit.exe, Flash.exe, PAV70D3.fd, PAV70D2.fd; Windows folder with: PAV70316.exe
My question is which files should I include on my thumb drive to reflash the bios and do I really need to change the name of one of the files as some have suggested. (i.e. PAV70D3.fd rename to zg5ia32.fd)
Any other advice specific to my machine would be helpful.

Hello i have ACER Aspire 6530G, but i cant find file .fd and flashit.exe in bios folder for this model. Just i find ZK3_3303W.exe or WinPhlash.exe. So i dont know how to fix it with this files , if notebook is death. Can anyone help me? THX

Hi, I downloaded bios from acer and when I extracted it, it has 2 folders namely DOS and Winflash. DOS folder doesn't have FLASHIT.EXE nor and ".fd" file but I do have a "flash.bat" file. Pls help. I have acer 4750g. Thanks!
