    I occasionally return to listening to this podcast. I went to school with Ben. We were in the same grade, we played trumpet and sat next to each other in band, I went to his house to play Halo. He was my friend. I just can’t comprehend how someone I knew and was close to could hide something like this from everyone. It’s hard for me to come to terms with. You hear these stories in movies and such, but to know it can be someone you were friends with… it hits hard.

    Dudes. DO A DOCUMENTARY. How on earth is this not come up 1 million times? This is one of the most impactful stories I’ve heard in the last four years. Much lesser stories get a Netflix series. This is insane.

      And look at where all the brave hero’s who have exposed these monsters in the past ended up. You’ve got to be 100% all in and at the risk of saving these babies lives, knowing the monsters will probably end yours

    A most excellent podcast. Congratulations, Dudes. And thank you. I have listened to this CBC podcast ("Hunting Warhead") three times over the past year. Congrats also to the white hat hackers and the cops who hunted down such a huge ring of evil.

    I listened intently between rage and tears! I can only hope Ben Falkner and his evil subhuman cohorts spend the rest of their miserable existences being tortured and abused. As for his mother, the fact that she is minimizing what he has done and calling him a kind and gentle person is sick and disgusting! I am not a religious person but I hope there is a hell and that it is horrendous because that is where he should spend eternity.

    Just found this and am half way, but I wanted to say I found the explanation of why it is called abuse and not otherwise really eye opening. I used to think that 'abuse' for that type would not do it justice, but actually it is more powerful. I learned something today. Really interested in this podcast!

    How were the journalists able to be on sites like Child's Play without getting prosecuted? And did they tell the Police that they thought they'd found the Child's Play server?

    • @PupRiku
      @PupRiku 2 года назад +5

      This was my first thought. You can say you're doing it to catch predators etc and okay great...but you're also accessing the illegal material...you're pushing up the number of people accessing such sites.

    • @akg_table
      @akg_table 2 года назад +8

      They said they changed their system so they wouldnt be downloading any images. Presumably that is sufficient to let them view text on these places legally.

      @@peacenpowder Yeah, of course I listened to it.
      They were searching the dark net and found these child abuse sites long before they got any contact with police.
      Working for a newspaper doesn't give you permission to go on CASM websites! They are civilians.
      They were going to confront the owners of the website, not realising that it was the Aussie police running them. But surely instead of going after the owners themselves, they are only journalists, they should have told the police about it?
      And they well could have ruined this undercover operation.
      Sorry, but unless you're specially trained police, you should not be looking for these types of sites, not matter the intentions. They were doing it for a story, at the end of the day.

      it's called "ethical hacking"

    • @leopardprints
      @leopardprints Год назад

      @@user-ph3ji8gp3p No, I did listen to it. I know they had an agreement with the police after the 'sting' was discovered. And didn't directly look at photos but still were able to read the words.
      But before the discovery the journalists were just regular civilians doing their own investigation. They had found a CAM site and were investigating it.
      They also went all the way to Australia to confront them instead of informing the police. That's really unethical. If you discover a crime, it's your duty to report it, especially if it involves children. They were more interested in getting a story than protecting the kids. They were lucky they didn't completely blow the investigation.
