    Revit is NOT BIM, however just part of a BIM workflow. It is the most popular BIM Software. Revit is different than AutoCAD and Rhino since the software is object-based and rather than a layer-based traditional CAD workflow, where the building data and information are represented manually and leave a lot of place for errors.

    Been watching you videos, really like them! Very informative! Trying to get my company to understand BIM better.
    For BIM we use navisworks, because Revit feels more for architects? For a chemical factory we need also other models (inventor, plant3d, ...) to add, which I think navisworks handles better, or am I wrong in this assumption? Can Revit handle also inventor and plant 3d drawings?
    PS: please invest in a better microphone 😅.

      Hi Kloë
      Thank you for your positive reply! You are right and we have a much better microphone now. New videos are coming very soon.
      We had a customer who used Solidwork for years and invested in the Solidworks model. The tools for product development are great but when it comes to documentation, changes, automation, and more Revit is really powerful. Very few people explore the real power of Revit and maybe that is one of the reasons that you do not feel it may suit your need and maybe it really does not.
      Why do not you tell us your goals and what you really want to achieve or at least what you would expect Revit to accomplish, so we can provide better feedback and be more direct with our answer?

      @@IntegratedBIM Hi,
      I'm not talking about solidworks, although sometimes we do receive solidworks files that need to be added to the model. I'm talking about navisworks.
      I cannot demand from my suppliers to draw everything in revit. Our piping suppliers all draw in plant 3d. It handles P&ID's the best. In the chemical industry the P&ID's are the most important part of the plant. Can you insert 3d drawings from plant 3D in revit? Can you insert inventor files in revit? And when they are inserted, can revit handle updates easily? What data is lost?
      The most important for the 3D model is clash detection. We have kms of pipe, with several 3d artists. So they clash a lot.
      The information side of bim is mostly in our plant 3D drawings. However very difficult for technicians to find this information. For BIM we currently work with navisworks, plant 3D and sharepoint. Which works ok, everything has its seperate tag, but it's confusing for people who do not know the system.
      Im not an architect, but a process engineer. Maintenance in a factory is really important, so I'm trying to find a system where our technicians&engineers can find the correct data after installation of a specific pump, valve, ...

      @@kloekegels3345 You use Navisworks specifically for clash detection and that is great. Revit is not made for clash detection specifically. However, if you want to combine it with documentation and with more functions of BIM - Revit is just great. It is hard to say if Revit fulfils your goals better from the first glance since it is not a straightforward thing.
      Revit can link Plant 3D files they can be easily exported (or any files that can be easily exported to (DWG, DXF, DGN, SAT, SKP, etc.) - you will only lose data for exporting and when you import into Revit. If Revit is really exploited well you will be surprised how easy it will be for everyone.
      Please let us know if you want to schedule a consultation on this matter to explore further how Revit and many other tools can help you to resolve your pain points and to achieve better collaboration.

    Is there any shortcut for changing revit detail level in model from coarse to medium to fine.

    • @arkplato2186
      @arkplato2186 2 года назад

      One has to go into model and then change detail level. I am looking for a shortcut

    • @IntegratedBIM
      @IntegratedBIM  2 года назад

      Hi Ark Plato,
      Thank you for reaching out!
      Unfortunately, there is no shortcut for this action. You can assign shortcuts to specific actions in Revit. If you go to File>Options>User Interface and press on the “Customize” button next to Keyboard Shortcuts you will be able to see all the in-use shortcuts plus assign new ones for the wanted actions.
      If you are working with standardized requirements, you can also create views templates where you can choose the detail level. That way, when you select a View Template, the detail level will be automatically chosen for the specific view.
      Hope that was helpful. :)

    What about 3ds max compare to revit

      I think this is an interesting topic - differences between various software products. We should definitely cover this.
