This looks like something from the 80's I had a Mighty Magnum strapped to the roof It was huge. The neighbors hated me wiping TV's out. Gotta love CB radio good buddies!
I use an old early 1980s vintage sirio dx27 mobile antenna (it looks like a thin version of a firestik) and with an atu it covers both cb and 10m and it still performs really good!.
Very good, most of the CB'ers in my part of the country also have a HAM radio license. That antenna looks awesome and reminds me of some of the gamma match base antennas of the 60's.
Was running GMRS and using some local repeaters. I got board of that REALLY quick. I started back in the 80’s running 11m CB and I’m thinking about getting back into it. I do have my Ham tickets but I just don’t have the fun I do when running 11m. The fact we have to give a kidney to run Ham is what really makes me sick.
1st=Your paperwork does not say where the antenna is manufactured. (unless I missed it). 2=Is it 1/4 wave..1/2 wave or 5/8 wave? Also if I got a 1.5 SWR, I'd be retuning.
I wish I knew somebody local to where I live in Ohio who could work on CB's. You don't find too many people working on them anymore. I tried to buy one new a striker from fine tune CB shop that mud duck in the desert. Ordered one from him about 5 years ago. Paid $700 and never have got the radio so it's hard to trust people to work on them even to purchase one from anymore. I wish the CB world would come back to what it used to be in the old days?
well here in cleveland ohio cb and ssb band is booming and there are a lot of peeps who are radio techs out here fine tune is NOT ONE OF THEM who wants a striker radio?? junk total junk
There was a radio repair guy here in Southern California, who's now looking at 17 cases of (fraud?) I can't remember the exact charges, but he kept people's radios and amps, and now will be spending some time behind Bars. I can suggest a shop out here, but you'd have to discuss shipping and Packing with him. He's name is Chris at Superior CB, in Ontario Calif. 73's.
Depending where u are in Ohio I know a guy who owns and operates a business here in Windsor ont. Who does radio repairs and mods and yes he is legit so if you want message me and I'll send you his contact info
There was(maybe still there) a couple of good shops in n.w.Ohio off the Ohio turnpike and 280, Stoney Ridge. I had some work done a few years back...id recommend em. I'd bet a simple Google search would find the addresses, and if you want to take a drive... Good luck.😊
Order from Truck’s in Kentucky. Honest guy and good work. I have also ordered radios. From Lester’s Custom and had very good luck. Both guys know how to tune radios for great performance and you will receive your radio in a timely manner. By the way the comment about Stryker radios being junk, you’ve either never had a 995 or had a bad tech tune it for you. They’re good solid radios that never drift on sideband and have enough power after a good tune to talk all over the globe.
what's the distance from the botton to the coil ground plane. I have a jeep jk and I want to mount it behind my spare tire and I don't know if I have the distance.
You must Live on east coast, Conn you said 95, Do they Make a Base antenna Like that, For 40 channel, Looks like a Neat antenna, How is the SWR,and do you like Performance,
So for 100 watts, 96 watts forward and 4 watts reflected, with 1.5:1 VSWR, I'm not worried about it That means with my amp, at 450 watts I lose maybe 12-15 watts.... And the final output stage is still happy. Meanwhile, many people out there are using an Icom or Yaesu with a 3:1 VSWR and working the world at 100 watts, BUT, they are also excessively heating their final PA section, or they mask it with a tuner.... I could probably get it better relocating on various parts of my truck, which is pretty much all aluminum or fiberglass, but I'd rather deal with only a couple watts lost then to reroute all over the truck to gain another couple watts... I have worked the world on light bulbs, beer cans and bicycle rims and also high VSWR, so I'm not worried about trying to find the best sweet spot on an aluminum truck built in 2024
Every antenna is a compromise. This cant be any better than the giant coil antennas at truck stops. Just because it has a low swr doesnt mean it is efficient A 102 inch whip is about the best you can get on a mobile, if you canmount it high enough
No information on where to buy it or how much it costs. The link you provided is so convoluted and impossible to navigate anywhere with any real information.
Ten minutes and it up to the operator to ID their station, I have never heard of anyone telling another, other than someone wanting to be helpful. Ron W4BIN
No es mejor , es otra banda como pmr pero con propagacion en algunas ocasiones , y decir el indicativo es porque es con licencia , si no seria un gallinero como lo es en ocasiones la cb.
I looked up Dr.Jack at CompacTENNA, trying to find out more information and pricing and the only video or information that was available sent me right back to your channel. 😭
Your match is not there. 1.53 @ 27.000 Mhz and 1.66 @ 27.400 is not good. Does the "Perfect 10" also have a match this bad? On 10 meters many of us run amplifiers and any match above 1.3 is very tough on the finals in the amp. 1.5 would definitely harm the amp in no time. Just saying. All my mobile and wire antennas are 1.1 or lower using the RigExpert. I know I do not have to worry about the match on my antennas. I like the idea of this new antenna, but it appears the tuning may not be where it needs to be.
I've worked the world with less and made more contacts than most any other 11 meters operator in the world. 500 watts is more than plenty. I've used 1500, 2000 and 5000 And heard the same bullshit. Had a 32 pill Dave made many years ago And it wasn't worth the 3 alternators in my GMC
Also the trans america radio group is still going all these years later and see if theres any ohio lads or lass's on f.b. know anybody that way thats trust worthy
Pretty bad, cant even view the prices on the link. I am sure its there somewhere. Should have it easily visable. If I have to scroll and click and keep scrolling to hell with it.
Cool looking antenna... I was very interested.... Until I saw only 500w....Come on...this is 11meters...you know us outlaws run 10kw+ in the suburban keydown trucks.....
How many watts do you have to put through it? The largest amp I have is a Texas Star sweet 16, the brown faced version, but with my Texas Star DX350 or Palomar 667V I can hit it with 300-400 watts and talk to Australia or Europe without any more. I have a Drake L4-B with dual 3-500z jars in it for HF, but I don't even need to run that at 700 watts on 120v to be satisfied People that run more than 1000watts on 11 meters are small dick people. Little man syndrome with a splatter box.. not even in a class AB scenario a window licker with no life in their moms basement. I will run 200-300 watts through this and have zero issues
Absolutely shocking advertising with some very odd claims and language used. You would be shocked if you did a side by side test against a 1/4wave dipole or 1/2 or 5/8wave vertical antenna as they would outperform this all day long. For size, stick to a more rigid and longer mobile antenna, because it is the length that matters. It is a shortened (described as loaded) 1/4 wave antenna with impedance matching coil at the bottom, nothing else. The shorter the antenna, the lower the efficiency and performance compared to a full sized one. 7dB over what ? There is no way it has a 7dB gain over anything that was working, or that it would be 4 times as efficient as a standard quarter wave antenna, it would need to be a lot longer and have elements phased in some way to achieve this. Compared to a 1/4 wave dipole, this antenna would be less efficient. It is a shortened antenna, so a compromise. You can make this type of aerial yourself, take a 1/4wave loaded whip antenna, get a coil of wire and attach the top to the centre conductor and bottom to ground or pole. Take your coax and put the ground to the bottom, then connect the centre to the coil and slide it around to give you a low SWR. All it is doing is matching the impedance of the aerial to the coax. That is the only purpose of that coil, it does nothing for performance as it doesn't radiate as part of the aerial itself. The vague description and meaningless words on those instructions used to say "omnidirectional radiation pattern" would be banned straight away and the item withdrawn from sale. To describe it in ways that are meaningless in order to try and suggest enhanced performance is wrong.
Been doing this since the late 70s. seen some ugly ass antennas in my day. That is one ugly ass antenna. Wouldn't care if ti was 13db gain. UGLY ASS ANTENNA... Been using 11m anteenas for 10 and 12m for a while.. dose it work?✌

Very cool antenna. This thing looks like it is so well made. Very high quality!

The main thing is that the coil looks crazy. That gives the antenna a boost 🙂

That’s a lot of wind resistance if you like to drive over 55MPH, will that flimsy mount keep up?
That's cool great antenna I bet it works good

How much? I couldn't find it listed on either HRO or DXE.
My ATAS 120A tunes a 1.0:1 SWR on 11 meters. 😉
1.5 swr isn't bad, but not great either.
Cant get it any lower ?
So for 100 watts, 96 watts forward and 4 watts reflected, with 1.5:1 VSWR, I'm not worried about it

Nothing wrong with 1.5:1, not sure you understand VSWR over efficiency.
What are them bolts and nuts in the coil for?
Wonder how it would work up north when running in snow and ice??????
Can the 4X-CFR ham radio be mars modded? Or better yet.... is it 11 meter friendly right out of the box
I tried to find a dealer but was unsuccessful. Do you have another link ?
Best to put a dab of anti seize on the adjustment screws when you first get it
Run a ground strap from the shield of the antenna to the frame of the car and watch your swr go down below a1:2 and then trim the antenna .
No where can I find a price on this antenna. Not even on the CompacTENNA website.
Nice antenna. I have a wilson 5000 and i find that good enough for dx
Love it going to check it out ❤

what type of antenna would be best for a spectrum analyzer ?
Depends on the frequency range. Maybe an 8 inch BNC rubber duckie? What connector does your spectrum analyzer have?
