You helped me alot. Thank you sir 😊
Welcome. Do check the other videos :)
Really hatsoff for this video..
Sir,you know how other people teach..they come directly on definition, composition.use n all..but sir u always first teaches the topics rationale..why it is invented .how it was invented..like u told us it was bcz of moisture sensitivity n it's full rationale then u come on the topics it's awesome...plzz keep continuing u r the real teacher..
My pleasure. Happy yo hear that you found is different. Here are the videos about cements. Do check

Do check dental Ceramic video too
Thank you for simplifying the concepts to us. However, I would like to submit a few suggestions:
1) Kindly try to incorporate more images to ease the understanding. Also they helps to form a long-lasting memory.
2)Since you have incorporated the history, kindly mention the years of invention of these cements as well so that we do not have to refer much elsewhere.
Really an impressive way of teaching.😊👍
Thank you soo much for the feedback. I would surely try to follow these. Do subscribe to thr channel. I have also made other videos. Do check :)
Can you explain Umbrella effect in resin modified GIC..
The conventional gic water while setting may get disturbed leading to crazing and loss of strength. In light cure gic the resin initially setts and forms a resin matrix which will preserve the water content and hence the acid base reaction will continue properly. This ability to protect the water by resin matrix is called as umbrella effect
Sir,I have a doubt. When we start the polymerization, the original acid base reaction will continue. But,how the cement will set because pf polymerization and not because of original acid base reaction.?
you explain so well!! really can't thank you enough! you make information stick to mind.
Most welcome :):)
Thank you so much Sir.. Learning in such a easy way from your videos is a Joy.. stay Blessed
So glad to hear that :)
Aweosme.my concept is crystal clear..❤...plz cover more important topics in dentistry which are important for entrance PG.....plzz...will be waiting for ur videos..😍

The light cured Glass Ionomer does not give the benefit of released Fluoride and bonding to moist tooth material?
I repaired my own tooth with GIC on lifehack - in my subscriptions list
Can be use it to fill my own teeth without any doctor . please reply ...
Very well explained. Thank you.
Welcome :)
Dear Doctor:
Is it because the RMGI will continue its acid base reaction for the next 24 hours, it will need water and will take it from the tubules ending up with sensitivity!
Thus under composite we should not use light cured glass .. would you correct me if i am wrong
Water is a part of cement when u take it from liquid. I am not sure it takes much for tubule
Sir I had a few questions,
1) Why is it used more in deciduous teeth and is it used permanently? If so, why is it?
2) Why can't it be used as a permanent restoration in Permanent teeth?
3)When the conventional cement matures, what happens to it's water content?
4) Is the clinical classification (Type I - IX) accepted in an exam or viva point of view?
Thank you for your time sir
Ans 1 and 2-its has less wear resistance. So not suitable for class 2 and class 1 as it wont lost long. Also fluoride release helps a lot for deciduous teeth as they are more succetible for caries. Also GIC aloes consertive preparation.
3- the bound water is utilized in reaction.
4 - Thats brand classification. For example Fuji 9 and Fuji 7 both are type II GIC.
but sir this type 2 modified GIC reduces the release of fluoride... so is this alright for thr temporary teeth ?
Yes. But its not too less. We can still use it since it had other advantage
Sir will refering to Mannapalli be helpful? As it contains values of all the properties. And bit of extra info??
One can always rear multiple books. It helps
Sir can u do more videos of dental materials....this is the best channel for dental materials I hv ever seen...thanks for ur works😍
I will. Do check the already made videos in this dental matrial playlist

sir gic is very weak.. i filled my 2 teeth.. it got melted in 1yr.. now again i have to goto dentist to fill.. is resin modified gic better strength..
Sir, I have confusion on compomer, I was asked during a viva the benefits and setting reaction of compomer. Compomer is resin modified gic. So are the benefits the same as explained in the video?
Thankyou :)
No. They are different. The compomer is a single tube system. It does not bond chemically to the tooth structure. Also it release less fluoride than any form of GIC
Aspire32 thank you sir!
Is Rmgic is better than gic in terms of its bond with tooth and strength ?
Yes. It is but there are other modification which are better in strength
@@Aspire32kindly tell me the best durable filling material .
@@Aspire32 what are those modifications
Excellent explanation, thank you❤️
You're very welcome! Do check all information about difference type of GIC here ruclips.net/p/PLdPsg6P-6Vldwz71Kx6VNx06T0UVA5sLy
Respected sir 🙏, can u plz make a video on resin cements and Ca(OH)2. Thank You🙏.
Check pulp protection series on aspire32 for calcium hydroxide
What are contradictions of resin modified GIC?😊
Same as conventional gic
CONTRAINDICATIONS Class IV carious lesions or fractured incisors. Lesions involving largeareas of labial enamelwhere esthetics is of major importance class II carious . Lost cusp areas
Some books specially says rmgic should not be used for cementing all ceramic crown where conventional gic can be used
Sir, please tell do we need to apply bonding agent after etching with phosphoric acid before applying rmgic?
We can condition the tooth with mild acid. There is no need for bonding agent with gic since it has chemical bond
@@Aspire32 Thank you so much sir😊
@@Aspire32 can we use rmgic for postobturation restoration?? Will etchant harm obturation?? Sir please reply..i am doing this case
@@fahimahmad8167 you can but ideal composite is a better core material
@@Aspire32 okay sir..thank you😊
How is increased opacity of glass ionomer caused?
Dessication causes it.

Hi sir, your explanation was very good, but still i don't understand this one,
I read a journal and they say if use Fuji II LC (traditional RMGIC) we should rinse after apply cavity conditioner, while if use ketac nano (3M espe) we do not rinse after apply primer..
Is it because traditional rmgic doesn't contain monomer on the cavity conditioner ? While ketac nano has it ?
Thankyou 🙏
There are two types of conditioners.. rinse and non rinse.
Basically you can use an acid separately or a acid which u do not need to wash. You can use both type with any material. But the non rinse conditioner has found to create less porosity in the tooth, hence may offer less bond strength.
Thank you 🙏🙏
Hi sir
I would like to share one doubt regarding light cure GIC
Whether we have use bonding protocol that is etching, bonding agent application before placing light cure gic Or not
Similarly after placing light cure gic we should again follow the bonding protocol for placing light cure composite over it or no need of it sir
In case of deep cavities for light cure calcium hydroxide same bonding protocol needed or no need of it sir
In case of indirect pulp capping where we leave affected dentin - bonding can occur in that dentin or not sir for placing light cure calcium hydroxide sir
Please share your opinion sir
Any Gic to tooth bonds chemically so no need to apply Bondng agent
Composite needs bonding agent over agent .
If u r applying gic over calcium hydroxide no bonding agent but if u r applying composite over calcium hydroxide then bonding agent required
@@Aspire32 Thank you sir
Sir can v use cention n for class 1 in permanent tooth.
Actually some time patient not paying for composite work and also at the same time not want black colour (amalgam) restoration
Yes. You can use it. But the life will be less.
Cention is not a replacement for GIC. Its not chemically bonded. It needs undercut like amalgam
Nicely explained sir..... :)
Thank you Dr Ajay :)
Sir, Resin content if more then moisture sensitivity is less??? Bcz resin is resistant to water intake na????? I am getting confused , some say that resin increased moisture sensitivity but acc to this video when we have incorporated resin in GIC to make RMGIC, moisture sensitivity reduces.. plZ clear the concept sir
Its not about content. When the resin cures then it is less sensitive to moisture.
@@Aspire32 sir means uncured resin is more moisture sensitive & cured resin is least moisture sensitive??? Am i corrrct sir
Yes. When I talk about gic moisture sensitivity, its when its set and you reduce it with aerotor. The water can still affect it since the gic will fully cure after 24hours. So if u add resin the settings will be fast and then if u trim it now it will be less sensitive water
helo sir
i m filling my teeth myself at home
i am using light cured gic
i dont have light
can i use blue led night lamp instead ?
Light cured GIC will set without light too. It just takes more time.
Keeping the physics apart,, its better to get it done at Dentist :)
Nice explanation Dr
Thank you :).. do subscribe to the channel
@@Aspire32
Absolutely..
Is it used in class.2 restorations ?
Since Class 2 in permanent teeth are high stres bearing areas GIC is not a good choice.
However in case of non availability of other material this can be used. But it wont last long.
This can also be used as a transitional restoration.
When do we use RMGIC what class of tooth do we have to use and I what situations?
Its preferred over conventional gic. It can be finished earlier, its used as a base. Do watch alll the types of gic to understand it better. Here is the link
