Robb you are totally on point. The decision to use Christine Hals to vocalize and provide bgv is because I always try to be as authentic as possible, and hire folks that specialize in music from their own culture. A lot of the songwriting influences, however, are cinematic pop… Artists that are rooted in American folk music and darker Appalachian style work. The percussion and flutes, etc. as well as the vocals, are Northern Europe style. my woodwind player, for this played some Nordic flutes, but also some African and Middle Eastern flutes as well… My goal was to create something that lives in the world of Arknights, not something that is specifically tied to a certain ethnicity in our world. I’m glad that you were able to point that out… Great analysis, and I’m thankful for your kind words as always… Even if the music can be overwhelming at times, you are greatly appreciated.🎉
Overstimulating is probably a more apt word, i just haven't gotten used to saying it yet 😂
The folk thing makes a lot of sense too, that's probably what my mind was seeing as Southwest NA, I'm just not as versed in that area so i accidentally did the whitest thing and generalized it all in my head 🥲

"The Sámi maybe". Damn, not even close. Because you were beyond close got it 100% right. The Chinese server just started on an expedition to the unexplored Northern regions through the "mysterious nation of the Sámi", and they are a very tribal nation indeed.
I learned from people in my discord shortly after recording that Sami is a thing in the game, the name is just derived from the irl culture

the character this song is for is involved in an event that's presumably a prelude for Arknights' 4th installation of their roguelike mode. the Phantom (boss) Battle theme you reacted to last time was for the 2nd roguelike mode. the game devs just dropped the remastered version of the 1st roguelike mode's soundtracks, which were all written by Adam Gubman. i highly recommend you check out the boss theme for the 1st roguelike mode, also the shop themes for the 1st and 2nd roguelike modes.
This theme is brand new and have become a new favorite for me. The music, the character itself (and her kit). Appreciate seeing you reacting so fast to it!

Btw the chaotic Phantom of the opera and Saturday night game show r songs from the first and second theme of a rogue lite game mode, "Endospore" is from the third theme. This song u reacted to is the beginning of the upcoming fourth theme. So expect more chaos as all the big events r coming👀
out of nowhere relativ^^ pretty sure someone explained it already but there is a time delay between our arknights server and the one over there in china of 6 month
so it appears first there on their server and on bili bili and then after 6 month as "new" content on our server and here on the arknights youtube channel
thats why we get winter stuff in summer and the other way around - and new songs always appear first on fan channel and co that bring them over from bili bili and co
(that and the few that are for whatever reason so far exclusive on the japanes arknights youtube account -.-")

Wow, spot on with Sámi, this is the first event and 6* OP from Sami, and it's pretty obvious the connection there lol. Also as others have mentioned, when IS4 comes out in a few weeks or so we'll be getting a ton of these tracks with similar theming, can't wait myself!
I think slavic music could be good guess for influence, it reminds me some parts of witcher ost

Originally when I commented I said a little bit about how much I love more complex songs like this but now I'm too tired to say it all again. I love this song SO MUCH though.
This time around though I have thought of something to say about the song
I've been looking at your past reaction videos and really enjoying listening to the more upbeat or otherwise energetic stuff like the CC lobby themes, and it's been a bit since I listened to something softer and more somber like this. It almost makes me want to cry simply because of how soft, smooth, and powerful it is all at once. I live for music like this.
Also you should definitely react to Ensheath.
