Great review, man! I’m glad you got around to review this. This is my all time favorite pomade. Extremely versatile and reliable. The scent is phenomenal as well.
I just discovered this channel. I like how you review pomades and tell if they're safe for work. Because I work outside in a bunch of different conditions and no other channel talks about something for work.
This was a great review! I’d just like to say that showing the pomade’s performance at the end of the day would let us viewers get a visual of what it looks like at the end of the day. But that’s just a thought. Now to my question, would you suggest crystal lake or red house private reserve? I’ll probably get both in the future, but I’m wondering which to get first. Any help would be much appreciated!
Yeah, I usually do an endurance test for the more popular ones in a separate video and I totally will for crystal lake in the future so good looking out!🍻 It depends on what you prefer. I personally find Redhouse to have better endurance and hold (by a little) but far more waxier and less manageable. I prefer Crystal Lake because I find it easier to restyle while having an above medium hold and endurance. Hope that helps!
The Workman's Pomp thank you for the reply! I just wanted to ask which do you think has more shine? And you said red house is wavier - what do you mean, as in your natural waves in your hair could come out through the day, or it’s just less slick?
Hi Brandon, thanks for the great review. If you have tried Lockhart Unorthodox pomade, what is your opinion about that one vs Shear Revival Crystal Lake especially hot climate?
Nice review man. I've still not tried it, but I'm kinda thinking I won't be big on that scent. I don't like wearing baby powder scents but maybe it's a good mixed smell
Great vid man , really want to try these , do you think this product will work better on fine hair than blackship? Btw can you do northen light from shear revival in your next review?
I have the newest and I get a lot of tug and pull. I almost gave up on it but started to melt it down before using it and also using it on build up and I love it now. My product also moves around in the jar which is pain but hey watcha gonna do
How do you apply it? I noticed different outcomes when comparing dry, damp, and wet hair. Also, warming it up in your hands for a minute straight helps it get really silky
Usually apply dry. I noticed it applied slightly easier with damp hair and it emulsified to the extreme. I'll apply late at night right out of the shower, sleep with it in, and then damp my hair in the morning to restyle.
I can’t speak for the current iteration of Crystal Lake, as I heard it has been lightened, but the old iteration had really good hold so in personal opinion I feel like it would add to the build up over all. If you try the newest iteration of crystal lake let me know
The first ingredient is aloe juice which they mix and make with water, so yeah, it’s first main ingredient is water. The second ingredient is beeswax making this product a bit heavier but I haven’t had issues washing it out of my hair or off my hands if the product was fully broken down.
The new, new, CL scoops out even creamier than odouds, Is no longer balls into shape no more, which I love that effect and made a difference in hair. In my opinion. I think it's Bc of this girly man users complain too much to make pomades "easy".
That’s the main thing now and days, F boys wanting everything to breakdown like lotion. Unfortunately, that’s why stuff like Nostalgics and Revivals oil based hardly ate restocked or gone now. They have to move with the market and what’s popular and if a product has any sort of resistance then the majority of people cry now.
The Workman’s Pomp Agreed. This fragile "man" complain too dam much. If they want something creamier go to blumaan or hanz de whatever. I just hope nostalgic don't change their original WB like CL. Makes me wanna punch this kids in the face (Jajajaj too much rage).
Hum ok, because i see a lot of metrosexual youtuber who using pre styler and i wondering myself why, because when i see guys like u, use only the pomade or whatever, no need to use more. Thx for ur comment.
Yeah, that isn’t what my channel is about. My channel is geared towards the working man with simple and practical info. I’m not hating on people who use prestylers and what not but I rarely if not ever use them myself
Yeah, u look like a lumberjack, real man, so good to see ur review. No hate on people too, but some of them, they spend so so so much time, use a pre styler, the product and one post styler, one hair dryer blablabla kinda boring, so good to see some review like that.
The Workman's Pomp same here. Maybe bc I have crazy thick hair makes it hard for this pomade to slick it back, idk. But I do like it tho, for me it gives me that relax look.
JR H most mediums do that to thick hair. I have been using firms and heavys since June and it’s been keeping my slickback nice and tight. Mediums just won’t hold my hair anymore it ends up giving my hair texture

Thanks man! I try and hear my stuff towards the working man because most of us are that, average working men and women!

Whoops, sorry! I meant waxier!
Just tried it for the first time today! It's phenomenal.
Agreed. It’s one of the OG’s for reason, that’s for sure!

You should wait for a limited scent then for sure
Just ordered some from Amazon. How do I know if it’s the newest version? Was the packaging different on the older versions?
Typically there will be a date on the bottom to help with that

Hi man. What do you suggest between Crystal lake and Blackship. Which one is better in terms of overall shape & endurance through out the day
They are both pretty close but I think Blackship beats Crystal Lake in endurance but Crystal Lake beats Blackship in shape! Hope that helps!
Thanks man. It does help a lot
Haha, that Big Lebowski reference though!
Between this an slick devil what you think is best ??
Would you use Crystal lake on buildup, like you would NG WB? Like to help break down buildup? Bc NG WB does a good job at that
I can’t speak for the current iteration of Crystal Lake, as I heard it has been lightened, but the old iteration had really good hold so in personal opinion I feel like it would add to the build up over all. If you try the newest iteration of crystal lake let me know
Best water based pomade
Do one on arcadian clay! How does it compare to firshand supply
such a quality product all around!
What has stronger hold and longer endurance, this or nostalgic matte pomade?
This
Is this actually water based? I read that people say water isn't the first ingredient and it's hard to wash out of the hair and hands
The first ingredient is aloe juice which they mix and make with water, so yeah, it’s first main ingredient is water. The second ingredient is beeswax making this product a bit heavier but I haven’t had issues washing it out of my hair or off my hands if the product was fully broken down.
What is the expire date on this pomade?
for me it's a vanilla coconut scent
I can see that as well!

🤔I can’t really decide which to get crystal lake or black ship
Depends on what your looking for. Crystal Lake is medium to firm if layered and Blackship is firm to heavy if layered.
Brandon Rodriguez any idea of which one has a stronger scent ?
Both
Brandon Rodriguez I see thanks for the suggestion I think imma have to go with black ship as I live in a place where it’s hot and humid
This or the easy tiger?
Easy tiger
Brandon you gotta check some of our Philippine pomades im telling you man we got some good shit
Any good brand suggestions?
Mike meyers never runs!
Yo my friend, did u use a pre styler? or u dont use?
Typically for reviews I don’t use pre-stylers. The closest thing I’ll do is use build up from the same product the next day
Hum ok, because i see a lot of metrosexual youtuber who using pre styler and i wondering myself why, because when i see guys like u, use only the pomade or whatever, no need to use more.

Is it just me or this is no longer slick.
Which iteration do you have? The most recent one is the one I got and it feels pretty slick. I mean, it’s not as slick as the OG though.
The Workman's Pomp I have the one you have. Aloe Vera as the main ingredient now. It feels more for like textures hairstyles. I do slicks backs.
How do you apply it? I feel like warming it up for a minute to 30 seconds straight and applying to damp hair works for me
The Workman's Pomp same here. Maybe bc I have crazy thick hair makes it hard for this pomade to slick it back, idk. But I do like it tho, for me it gives me that relax look.
