Agents of Divine Mercy - Bishop Barron's Sunday Sermon

- Опубликовано: 13 июл 2024
- Friends, we continue our celebration of the Easter season on this Second Sunday of Easter, Divine Mercy Sunday. Mercy, St. Thomas Aquinas says, is compassion in regard to someone else’s suffering; thus, God’s mercy is his compassion reaching out to us precisely in our suffering. Keep that in mind as we walk through the Gospel passage for this week from John: the extraordinary account of the risen Jesus appearing to his disciples. Christ has been sent into the world as an agent of God’s mercy, answering our sin and woundedness with forgiving love. And the same Christ breathes on us, giving us the Holy Spirit, and sends us into the world with the same mission.

Today, I find my reflection dazzling with the beauty of our Lord Jesus Christ because there is a new prayer in my heart every time my lips utter it. I find peace and joy in the new measure. Bishop, I will continue to pray for Christ's mercy to flow His mercy from us to my family, and above all, to trust completely in Him so that we faithfully experience the graces of His mercy. You know yesterday I heard the most awe inspiring thing on some crime show it was “ I am not the ultimate judge of me”. To know someone can know us, like they say time only knows, I don’t think god is this tangible being, but for someone, something to know us better then we know our selfs, to root for the better of us, so much that it never ties us down to our darker periods of thought and deed. Oh what a blessing, oh what a thing worthy to pass on. I don’t think we can truly know god and his ways in this life, the sins of the flesh it’s greed and its material wants hold our thinking to much on it own ways, but we can be molded in spirit. With its aspiration far of eye from our earthly desire and reality, to its own heavens. May our spirits live long after our mortal bodies have been held down, may we reach the peace the pass all understanding, and may we do it together being the guiding lights of our neighbor, just as in our times of need we are not alone.
Thank you for your life of study, prayer, and reflection which you share with all.
😢...happy feast of the Divine Mercy
As always, Bishop Barron. Thank you. And may God Bless you and bless the grace-filled work you are performing.
God Bless you Bishop Barron!🙏 From Australia.
I just came back home from the Divine Mercy Sunday celebration, having experienced the mercy of Jesus at the confessional so beautifully to a very uncomfortable unexpected situation.
Lord guided me to your reflection that brought so much healing and peace to my soul. YOUR REFLECTION WAS MY PRAYER. 😊
Thank you so much for this simplified reflection of the gospel of divine mercy.
I could also pray for my other half.
God Bless you 🙏
Thank you Bishop Barron for this intense explanation.
Christo Viva❤ The Risen Christ indeed is more powerful than my/our fear... It's taken until now in my 56th year of living in this world, for the real Truth of that statement to sink in and be real, only by the grace of God, by forgiveness and by also the blessing of the real faith and Holy Spirit that lives in this man Bishop Barron. Thank you BB for the work you've been doing over here in the UK recently... God bless all the work you do in the name of Our Blessed Lord Jesus Christ... Christo Viva ❤😊🙏🏻
Happy Divine Mercy Sunday, Bishop Barron! Love your Sunday sermons. They are part of my Sunday morning prayers and prep for mass. You have given us all a wonderful challenge: to get up everyday asking ourselves "where can I bring the Lord's Divine Mercy to those who are suffering?" Thank you and His bless you.
Thank you for this. Thank you for explaining about how often we can make our mission of apostleship into an adventure that will naturally lead to better discipleship
Thank you for your great insights Bishop!
Christ is risen, He is truly risen!
Let us rejoice & be glad! 🙏🙏

Shalom Bishop and thank-you for your wisdom in sharing this gospel.
"It's our solidarity with our brothers and sisters in the Church that allows us to see and experience the Risen Lord." *- Bishop Robert Barron*
Yes, as stated by you: "It's our solidarity with our brothers & sisters in the Church that allows us to see & experience the Risen Lord". Sadly, the local Roman Catholic churches in many places lack this 'solidarity & fellowship' among people in church (unlike most Protestant churches), so we Catholics 'compensate' by giving all our attention to the Eucharist as a way of 'seeing & experiencing the Lord', but ignoring our brothers & sisters!

@Maria CANCER Praying For You
Keep trying to stay positive and connected to your Catholic faith. It will help you through cancer treatment.
In our brokenness Christ walks with us as we ascend to the Light. Believe, be strong.
Wonderful message of Bishop Barron. He is a treasure. There will be the side voices of division from the Evil One. No matter. We will continue every day to live our faith to best of our ability.
God "breaks through the locked doors of our fear." I like that very much. Thank you.
Indeed, there's a kind of dichotomy in Christianity: Our sin led to Christ becoming our great savior, kind of like the Felix Culpa in the Exultet.
And, yes, Christ has great power to break through locked doors and hearts tinged by fear to bring a surpassing sense of peace.
Let us rejoice and keep up the Alleluias.
Even in our weakness, He showed us the way, because He is the way. His wounds bound our bodies and souls back to our Creator who is our Father. How many times has the Lord told us to not fear? Plenty. He is our assurance of our immortality. There is no fear in the risen Christ who encompasses the souls who will believe. Amen Lord.
The description of Thomas, whose name means twin, struck me in a way regardinghuman nature. I feel that everyone has both a better nature and a lesser nature. And at first it's Thomas lesser nature that is directing the narrative. Then Thomas is immediately transformed upon seeing the Risen Lord who presents His wounds to him and then Jesus says to him, Shalom!
Thank you for posting this Bishop Barron. And may the Peace of the Risen Christ transform us all! Shalom!🙏
Thank you, Bishop Barron.
Amen 🙏🏻
Shalom ✨🙏🏼✨
Shalom, Divine Mercy! Its grace and mercy are a blessing to us all, and we can only strive to be worthy of it. As best as possible, we strive to remain mindful of Divine Mercy in our hearts and minds so that our decisions and actions are guided by it. We humbly accept Shalom Divine Mercy's guidance and strive to live up to it. May its grace and mercy bless us all and lead us to a brighter future.
The best Gospel is that which is lived! Thank you, Bishop, for the unselfish, generous and profound sharing of God’s word!
It is good if you have the freedom to live it; I do not have it😢
I got so much out of your Gospel today Bishop. Shalom 🙏☺️.

Divine Mercy Sunday is definitely my second favorite Sunday of the year. ❤

Father's Day?
What a beautiful reflection of the gospel, you make me feel the mercy of God.
Wow, just wow, I'm deeply moved by your homily Bishop Barron. And Shalom to you too.
"...God's compassion for us precisely in our suffering."
Could not have been summed up in a more scintillant way.
God bless you, all, and Shalom. x
3:25. Excellent comment regarding Thomas' doubt because he was "outside of the Church'; outside of his fellow believers. Awesome thank you Bishop.
That’s quite a perspective, I have never thought of it like that 🙌🏼
@@gildawaithira
Me too⭐
We need our church family.
I think that his doubt was also increased by the attitude of the other disciples, because instead of going out, they were still with the doors locked. Perhaps Thomas told them: How can you tell me that Jesus is alive and yet you are locked in here with fear? That is not consistent with what you said, therefore I cannot believe you.
I agree.... excellent comment and thought.... outside of the Church." One I had never considered before. I see myself in that spot and place too often.....by the simple inaction of not joining my fellow believers in true solidarity on a weekly basis.
"We're afraid."
When you spoke those words at the end, it brought tears to my eyes. ❤
Thank you for a wonderful homoly.😇
Like Saint Patrick the great evangelizer
Thank you Bishop. It’s so important to feel His Mercy always and take it to others
When he showed them his wounds, he revealed their/our sin. Wow, I've never thought of it like that. Thank you so much Bishop for pointing that out. Rob, Carlisle, UK

When Jesus taught the disciples to pray saying, ... "And forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us," he was preparing their hearts to receive the 'divine' mercy.
Thank you Bishop Barron ❤
May God’s mercy touch your heart so that you know you are loved infinitely and unconditionally by Him
Happy Feast Day 🙏✝️♥️
Many thanks again, Bishop Barron for your weekly Sunday's sermon. I loved this one when you said speaking of God's Mercy is to say His compassion reaches out to us precisely in our suffering. God bless You. I pray for You.

Today is the second greatest feast day in the Church - Divine Mercy Sunday - the day of Atonement for All our sins. Thank you Bishop Barron for sharing your thoughts on this great feast day. God Bless You!
Bryan .....the day of atonement for all our sins was on Nisan 12 ....33 A.d when Christ died on the cross ....nearly 2000 years ago
