      I'm 75, never have I heard a more reasonable explanation as to why Jesus vanished after the concercration. His work was finished with these two followers, it was time for them to get to work. Back to the 11 Apostles, they went to spread God's word. Perfect❤

    Amazing homily Bishop Barron! Short, instructive, and to the point. Jesus always is ready to “accompany us” when we are headed in the wrong direction! He speaks to us in our current circumstances. His Word informs and guides us, leading us on the path of conversion. After his Word inspires our thoughts with right thinking, he feeds us with the Eucharist, which strengthens and prepares us for the mission ahead: evangelization 🙏

    Walking the wrong way, but Jesus walks with them... Oh my so beautiful, just has He has walked with me throughout my life going the wrong way, the only difference is now I truly see that, I'm not blindly doing that now, I'm surrendering all, every moment,, my whole self and family and friends and the whole world to Jesus, He takes care of everything, and I'm listening, only in God's Grace and my being open to God's Grace can I do this, in constant prayer can I do this, even when going about my day, my heart offers all to God, and I've arrived at this place in my life, through listening and living what you Bishop Barron have shared in your ministry over the Internet (I'm in the UK) God bless you and WOF collaborating with God, working to do God's Will. Bishcop Barron... thank you! Just like The Lord let the original Apostoles see... so God and the Christ thru you have let us see. Simple as it gets... share the WORD (the TRUTH in its essence and correlated to the modern dynamics/topics based on the Light of the Sacred Scripture) and break the BREAD (meals at home) and then let the Holy Spirit take off in you and others. Listen! As the seed is sowed and just like the Gardener is always watching and tending... so most we in helping to realign the lost and the confused ones to come back and join it all (the Church) on our journey to Heaven. Because, a "los Cielos es para donde todos vamos." THANK YOU for such an invigorating sweet reminder of our mission as stewards/protectors/beneficiaries of the vision/tradition/revelation/pattern of Christ. God bless!

      @@rspjfrost1400 I saw that apology after I commented. Glad to see our bishops still have a conscience. The better question is how did this happen? It's still a very serious sacrilege. Don't down play it because you see my mention of the pope. Don't forget that there are still bishops in Germany allowing satanic rituals in cathedrals, blessing gay marriage and pushing for women's ordination. The pope has been publicly silent on that matter other than his "support of the synod" taking place there. My heart breaks for the universal church. Our mother, Mary, weeps for the sacrileges being committed against her son. But God will prevail. That we are assured. But what a test of patients it is in the mean time...

    Who is the God of peace and the Living God, who gave Jesus as a new covenant and raised him from the dead? Who loves him and who ignores him until this day?
    Hebrews 13:20 Now may the God of peace, WHO BROUGHT UP FROM THE DEAD the great shepherd of the sheep, our Lord Jesus, with the blood of an everlasting covenant,
    Hebrews 9: 14 how much more will the blood of the Christ, who through an everlasting spirit OFFERED HIMSELF WITHOUT BLEMISH.. TO GOD, cleanse our consciences from dead works so that we may render sacred service to THE LIVING GOD?
    Matthew 16:16 Simon Peter answered: “You are the Christ, THE SON.. OF.. THE LIVING GOD.”
    Jeremiah 10:10 But Jehovah is truly God. He is THE LIVING GOD and the eternal King. Because of his indignation the earth will quake

    This was a masterful homily….as a late comer to Christianity. It was a lightbulb moment…while I was sitting listening to Bill Creasy (Logos ministry, in LA) he started talking about ‘turning your other cheek’…I was thinking…yeah right!!…and then he said.. this is NOT about letting a crime go unpunished. It’s about releasing ‘this thing that happened to you go’…so it doesn’t grow (like cancer consumes you) 💡💡💡❤…that was the moment I began the journey into the Bible FOR REAL…with a new set of eyes. It was the moment I began my journey into becoming Christian. (It was kind of a selfish reason..but then you start maturing😂)! Great homily Bishop Barron, from start to finish!!!……I also have occasional problems with meme’s, I go to the comment section to try to figure them out!!)♥️✝️

    Theologically...The final words of Mass, " Ite, Misa est." means, go, the Mass is. NOT, the Mass is ended ! Being a theandric action of the God-man, it is an action outside of time and space...The Mass truly IS !

    I am really struggling with being loving helpful etc vs being a doormat. Can I get sone clarification?
    When is too much? Dealing with family who has moved in, does not contribute and has taken over my home. They believe they are owed this as they at o e time needed help. Now they just are taking. They claim I’m being materialistic when I ask for any contribution or a timeframe for moving out.

    The only thing that I cannot understand is that Cleopas and his friend recognized Jesus by The Breaking of the Bread. So this means that Cleopas and his friend were present at The Last Supper. So on Maundy Thursday, the apostles returned to the house where The Last Supper took place after Jesus's arrest, and Cleopas and his friend were there. It is a bit confusing. The Emmaus story happened on Easter Sunday evening; however, John, Peter and Mary Magdelene knew that Jesus was alive. If Cleopas was with the apostles, somehow Cleopas and his friend did not believe Mary Magdalene or Peter/John witnessed the empty tomb. I reckon Jesus showed himself to the twelve whilst Cleopas and his friend returned to Emmaus. If Cleopas and his friend had stayed a bit longer in the room of the Las Supper, they would have seen Jesus.

      Well Not necessarily, perhaps they were among the disciples at the Bread of Life Discourse (John 6: 35-59). So think of Christ going through all the OT passages that prefigured him. Well start with Genesis 14:18 where Melchizidek made and offering of Bread and wine, Ex 12: 1-20 (Passover Rite prescribed as perpetual institution); Ps 104:14-15 Bringing Bread from the earth and wine to gladden our hearts, Ps 110: 4 Lord swears you are like Melchizedek a priest forever. So Christ showed all the OT passages that pointed to him, and then Breaks bread, and that point they recognized him.

    Can never understand why Jesus chose to appear to his followers after his death in the form of an unfamiliar stranger? Why? Why didn't He just appear in his usual physical form?

    • @Swiss-s4b
      @Swiss-s4b Год назад

      He wasn’t an unfamiliar stranger. Reread the sacred texts. Something prevented them from immediately recognising Him. Their eyes were opened only after He broke the bread.
      A good example, When God calls people “blind” it doesn’t mean literally. It means there’s a veil over them. Peace unto you 💟💟💟

      Fiona ....The Glorified Body of Jesus after His resurrection is unrecognizable by human eyes .....He was recognized in His Actions like breaking bread or showing them his hands and side or feet . When Christ appeared in the upper room they thought they were seeing a ghost ....but when this body showed the signs of His
      Crucifixion or even asked for food ....they realised that it must be Him... every resurrection story has some disciples doubting.
      When Christ was raised it was in a Glorified Spiritual Body beyond description and in a body no longer subject to death ; death has no more power over Him

      @@Swiss-s4b Then why did Mary Magdalene assume He was the Gardner when she went to the tomb?

    • @Swiss-s4b
      @Swiss-s4b Год назад

      @@fionaobrien5683 The word is ‘assumed’
      Mary Magdalene never said it was the Gardner, she was mourning and thought to herself some people stole His body. It’s only after Our Lord called her “Mary” did she recognise His voice and her eyes were opened.
      We know God deeply through intimacy. At the sea as well, it is John (the Beloved disciple) who saw it was Jesus saying to Peter “It is the Lord.”
      Even today, Jesus would walk and only His intimate friends see Him. Fiona don’t think things through the flesh. See things through the Spirit. Ever asked yourself why on the judgment day Jesus will say to some “I never knew you.” How is that possible?
      That’s why I said there are certain Sacred Texts that you don’t read literally. The Holy Spirit gives revelation of His Word.
      “And only the pure of Heart shall see God?”
      Don’t think in the flesh…. go a little deeper Fiona 💟

    When you are doing wrong, correct your path and donate not 10% to the church but now 20%. The church offers nothing different in salvation and the promise of an eternal life that differs from any of the other 2500 religions currently being practiced in 2023. You are on earth for a few years and you are gone forever. It’s really just that simple. No god or religion needed. Save your 10% from the church and take a relaxing vacation each year. You will benefit more from the vacation than any religion. Fact!
